As a conductor I can tell you: I have seen many, many people fall during choir rehearsals and concerts. Especially students. It's the combination of standing for a long time and singing.

Nobody shut up through out the piece , I could hear every word and people laughing, I’m sure they weren’t laughing about me, I hope. One girl even said aloud I can’t see his fingers and then leant over the piano and for rest of the piece stared at me then my fingers and at me then my fingers and so on, I played the piece terribly but people still congratulated me

The recording of the Portsmouth Sinfonia playing this is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. It had me when it was first released in the 1970s and it still makes me weak with laughter. Thing is, although nobody was playing an instrument they knew how to play and some people were beginners, everyone was giving it their very best and at no point do you lose track of what the piece is supposed to sound like. Their other recordings are almost as good. This was not a comedy act, it had a serious musical purpose. You can listen to the whole of their wonderful "also spake zarathustra" here: ruclips.net/video/hpJ6anurfuw/видео.html and if you are interested in the ideas behind this there's a wikipedia page. I wore the original LP down till it couldnt be played any more, and still visit their youtube pages when I need cheering up.

You can see both of them look at each other and then look away from each other so that they wouldn't break down. The poor girl finally lost it at the end, so she turned away from the audience. My vocal teacher would have all her students do a recital roughly 2-4 times a year. One of those recitals was a disaster. It was just brutal - over half the performers (voice and piano) choked. Forgotten lyrics, poorly played pieces...it just kept happening. I was pretty close with my teacher, and she told me she was just gripping her seat the entire time...
I actually do well in those situations, and am very thankful that I didn't forget any lyrics lol! And you could actually feel the audience relax once it became clear that I wasn't going to choke. Not that I'm above it, but I'm glad it at least didn't happen that time.
