Italian dressing either regular or zesty works great marinating steak. My late Mom did that a lot. I do it sometimes just to remember my Mom. It breaks down the tissue in the steak especially a cheaper cut of meat giving it great taste and texture.
Great video buddy I do a lot of cooking while I’m traveling. I do a lot of videos of it as well. You can always learn something from somebody else. Thank you for the video.
Another great way to tenderize meat is to us pineapple juice instead of lime juice it hac bromolen like the powder meat tenderizer hope you like this idea. thanks Blackie for another great video 👍
Hi Blackie! What a great video again, I like the way you explain the things. The only problem I have just now is, I am getting so hungry but I have to go to bed soon😴, so I cannot eat anything.🤣 Thank you very much🙏 for showing and as always all the best from an Austrian silverwolf 🤠👍🏕🔥
I remember cooking in the boy scouts in the 60's , my meal was a round steak skewered and cooked over coals (we were camping) potatoes and carrots were buried in the coals. Good food back then .
@@brianmiller6055 i use alcohol sometimes, too. I even put one skillet in my Trangia 25 kit because I like it better than the one that came with the Trangia
Looks mighty good Blackie, wish I was there. Mmmmmm. I love cooking over an open fire and at 62 I'm still doing it. It tastes better and it's healthier for you. Keep up the good work Blackie and God bless.
I don't have a cold handle skillet. I but have a hammered carbon skillet, Its a lot lighter than cast but believe its a little heavier than a cool handle. It does heat really fast. Great video Blackie.
Blackie, Great Video and Outstanding looking steaks and tasty too , I do have a Cold Handle Skillet I got from my grandmother things ,it's a small one also got some of Cast iron skillets too . Thanks Again Sir and I like the way you cook steaks for you and Mrs. Blackie. Tim L.
I've been wanting to do some cooking when I go fishing. I bank fish at state parks and water authority reservoirs. Maybe I'll get one of those cold handle skillets and a little camp stove and give it a try this fishing season.
One of my personal favorite carry along spices is white pepper. So much sweeter than black pepper. Good explanation of how to prep for field. Somewhere , a vegetarian just passed out. If you meet a lady with an aluminum pan, keep your meat moving quickly, and avoid future visits. Things are unlikely to improve.
I must say Blackie that I wish I had smellavision , those steaks looked superb. It's amazing how much you and I have in common , I like my steaks rare also. There are quite a few other things that we have in common. Maybe if we meet at a gathering some day we can compare more issues of common interest. Till then keep crankin' out the good stuff.
Good video Blackie. Your steaks look good to me, no complaints. The best steak I've ever had was moose meat steak fixed the same way while truck camping.
I have a lot of cast iron (mostly Lodge, some heirloom) and I have a couple small cold handle skillets. I’ve recently been getting a set of the Lodge carbon steel skillets. They are much thinner and lighter than cast iron, a modern version of those cold handle skillets.
They think a lot of those old cold handle pans these days. Used to see them in any good country store back when us Silver Wolves were cubs. Great video, Thanks!
Thin carbon steel pans are often lighter weight than cast iron equivalents giving it an advantage for carrying it. It was the ultralight camp gear of the 1800’s.
Hi Blackie, greeting from Australia 🇦🇺, thank you for your time to make these videos, muchly appreciated. Just a quick question who is going to do the cook book you or 🐻 as l look at both 😊.
Love my steaks the same way just acquired a cool handle pan and I already have the cast iron. I have to adjust my food as I cannot put any salt in my diet due to 50% kidney function. I will have to work something out and have a steak at the next gathering with ya. Thanks brother.,
I've got 1 cold handle skillet looked to be about the size you had. I need to to the antique shop here in town. I'd like to find one the next size down.
I would probably fall in the category of Silver Wolf at 41. OTR. driving has took its toll. Ive got the grey hair, and long hours behind the wheel, has hurt my motivation. So you more Silvery Wolves, can probably walk me into the ground. Im losing weight, an' working myself back into shape
dam I love steak but diverticulitis hurts to bad for about a week now. Doctor says change your life style, antibiotics and no fatty meats. scheduled for a CT scan tomorrow. hate the barium Kool-Aid. Don't waste mine give to another silver wolf whose plumbing is better shape than mine. You know the old saying "If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself when I was young". Che la vie. Good technique Blackie, thanks for sharing.
Give you a piece of advice if you can do it. Try fasting for a week. Total water fast, nothing else but water. Fasting releases a hormone called Human Growth Hormone which plays an jncredible role in healing and rejuvenating. It will also give your digestive system a rest. Ten days is better, but try it.
Thanks very much Kind of you send your best wishes. I heard one of your YT peers say you were a real gentleman surely this to me confirms his idea of your character. @@BLACKIETHOMAS
Pathfinder is making a carbon steel skillet with a folding handle should be available in the fall just saw a video the other day looks like it’s going to be really nice and not expensive
While I love all sorts of food including steak, at times I also love to eat food without adding any other favoring materials, so that I can enjoy the item in its natural state..
That wasn't much of a sear on those steaks. And instead of wasting the fond, you could deglaze your pan with a little wine or beer for a sauce or cook your vegetables straight in the juices. Don't toss one of the tastiest parts of the meal :)
better than Gordon Ramsey but if you could please spell the uncommon (for foreigners) words slowly please? you've said that 'sirloin' so fast I could barely found what that was
take the time to really learn how to cook well it will make you and your family happy
Thank you very much for your skills and explanations!
God bless your heart!

Is there any other way to eat steak other than Rare???
I have read you shouldn't wrap the steak tightly in foil but rather just tent the foil.
Blackie, sometimes this ole Yanke has to just come visit you and your common sense
