Not just for beginners. In the hands of an expert, a bike like this can be endless fun on the backroad twisties; in a way that bigger more powerful bikes simply are not.
I've had my cbr250r for 3 years now, lots of fun, 65-100 mpg. Ive put 24k+ miles on mine now. Ive taken 300+mile trips on it. I've put a toolbox on the back, replaced the 14T front sprocket with a 15T sprocket on it to reduce the rpms(it just makes me feel better on the freeway, but I never come close to redlining it). Whenever I think of upgrading ( like to a cb500x) I keep thinking about the incredible MPG's it gets. Its like a sport, fun, utility bike for me..... IDK, I keep asking myself; whenever I think of upgrading, is it me or somebody else who wants me to upgrade.???
It's peer pressure making you want to upgrade. I love mine. There's moments where I get mad that the bike doesn't go above 80-82, but it's quick enough 0-65 mph that I don't even care. Biggest longevity thing with these are all the poorly thought out body panels I think. For a starter bike it's incredibly unfriendly to being dropped, the silver front cowl wings are essential to the design but are incredibly fragile
I would like a cbr250 but for the money my ninja 250 2008 ia the king of the small bikes and can hit 105 only reason I wouldn't only want a cbr or gsxr250 but as a second or third bike yah there neat
I have had mine for the past year and am only considering upgrading because a lady is looking for a small bike for her high school aged daughter. It is a fun little ride - I put about 3300 miles on it in the past year, and she's been a solid workhorse for me.
My CBR250R is a garage rescue. A little wrenching needed to bring it back out of seven years of unmothballed hibernation, and it's now in the process of a combination dual sport/naked street fighter conversion, all for under $1K including new tires. I quit riding after an altercation with a stupid deer years back an am re-entering motorcycling. This is the bike made for my return.
Sold my exact model and color 2012 same color…a few months ago to a kid as his first bike for 2000. Bike only had 13,000 miles on it. It was immaculate. I’m almost 56 and now ride a Boom Vader 125 to zip to work on or around town with my son for fun. Just got parts for new carb etc. I felt like I needed to have a smaller bike to be safer. God is good!
he's talking about the importance of safety gear but he miss the most important thing that is gloves. the first thing you do when you fall is put your hands out in front of you to break your fall
Love my 250R. I just started riding again after 30 years and this motorcycle feels like an extension of my body. So maneuverable. Thanks for the sweet ride-along. Wish you were closer so I could buy my next bike from you. ;-)
I learned to ride on a 87 Kawasaki GPX Ninja 250 and it was magic. Pretty hardy and easy to work on bike. The parallel twin needed to rev, but it was still a lot of fun. I’d love to try one of these Honda’s.
many people despise that bike on my country indonesia, coz 1 cylinder ..but they just dont know its very useful if we use it at crowd city traffic , and the head lights is...ugly ...but i love that bike anyway its has a good value for money and the endurance also good.
I have a vtr 1000 and today i bought a 13 cbr250r Repsol to use as a daily. I wasnt expecting much goin from a 1000 to a 250 but i have to admit i was suprised. Its pretty quick for a small bike and im pretty sure im gonna spend more time on the 250 than i will on my 1000 when im riding here in town.
I've ridden for over a decade with a lot of miles and riding year-round in any and all conditions. I'm spoiled to riding 1liter+ super sports but honestly I can have just as much fun on a little 250.. I've not tried the cbr 250 but ridden a few others including the little rebel. I think pride is the issue. I want to be seen riding super bikes and having people look and know I'm experienced... but the truth is, pride is dangerous and it ruins the enjoyment. When I get out there and just ride, I have fun on a little 250. Pride (and showing off) are probably the top killers in riding. Obviously lack of experience is way up there, but I think pride is equal
I am 5'2 so my biggest priority is seat height. That erases all above 500cc for me, except cruisers. I had one Naked Bike that was too big and 2 cruisers, now i am going to get me this one here for fun and speed.
Hey! I'm 5'3" myself and have the same issue! I just bought this bike yesterday and I actually have a lowering kit on the front and back of it and I can touch the ground flat foot no problem! Would definitely recommend for shorter people like myself 😊
I've had one for about 7 months so far and put 5000 miles on it, it's my daily vehicle unless it's raining. I don't have the money for a real bike so I'll just keep enjoying this one until it requires some maintenance I don't want to do. Insurance was 75 bucks for a whole year and each fill up is like $6, just can't beat it. Even if I got another bike this one is so cheap to own I'd just keep it
@4:30 "starter bike" just as dumb as "starter home" IMO. I found a nice 1,100sqft home I could afford and picture myself retiring in 10 years later still happy. 250cc bikes are fun bikes and can easily ride 70mph, America is the only country in the world that thinks otherwise.
I currently have a 2012 CBR250RA as my first bike and I tell you this - it is a sweet little bike. Mine is the red, white, and blue scheme and it is plenty perky for a new rider. Got her to 85 a few weekends ago. Don't discount that older girl - she will surprise you :)
I’ve riding a few bikes before but it’s been a long time ago. I want to get back to riding again but I’m so nervous to get on one. That’s why I was looking at a 250 just like this so I wouldn’t have too much power and lay it down. I’m still very much a noob. The bike I taught myself the basics on was one of those mini pocket rockets. A 110cc four speed manual that weighed 150 lbs and would go 55 with my fat ass on it. 6’1” 245.
I just got ripped off bought a cbr 250r and was warming it up heard a knocking, metal in the oil, cam melted into the Head. Can't find a engine in Canada...
