Nice video and we'll definitely try them out. Blazing Bagels is just south of them and excellent too. I'd say our favorite pizza in Seattle (not NY style at all) is Rocco's in Belltown. Hand tossed, locally sourced ingredients, killer bar to boot. They do slices and half and half pies. Get the half Fungi pizza with truffle oil finish and come back often.
Ahh, I used to go here for lunch often when I worked down here! Whenever my NY friends visit, they like going to Talariccos. (West Seattle) have you been there?
The only time I’ve been starstruck was when you rode past my parks and recreation gardening crew on the arboretum trail. Didn’t wanna freak out out by screaming but man I wanted to.
That pizza looks delicious. Here in Providence RI, when I was young everyone I knew made Sicilian style pizza no matter what part of Italy your family came from. My family came from Naples, Foggia and Abruzzo, but my mother and grandmothers made Sicilian style.
I left Seattle in late 2017. A few months ago I checked to see how many of my favorite restaurants were left in Seattle after COVID. *Half* were gone! I don't know if I'd even recognize the place anymore. :(
Kenji, have you tried Hot Mama's Pizza off Pine and Boylston? It's nostalgic dining for my wife and me, from when we used to live in Capitol Hill several years ago. I highly recommend their green pesto slices!
Looks delicious, will try it out next time I'm in SODO. If you get a chance, check out Supreme in either West Seattle or U District; my favorite NY style slice in Seattle.
@@JKenjiLopezAlt from here, but love NYC pizza... Been there about a dozen times, and had Prince, John's Bleeker, and several others. Closest thing is Supreme and Big Mario's. Hot Mama's on cap hill isn't too shabby, neither is Belltown Pizza or ROCCO'S... Just depends on your personal taste in sauce, crust, and baking styles.
Hey Kenji, are these videos sponsored? I think it would be great if you mentioned whether or not these are sponsered in the description somewhere or even in the video maybe.
These reviews are great. I'm quite exhausted with food influencer restaurant reviews in the instagram style at the moment, but Kenji really brings humanity and knowledge back to these.
Shame on Kenji if he did that, labeling people as racist or disliking them because of a political perspective is un-American. It’s also arrogant to think that you can completely understand a person and their perspective or actions based on things you hear or read. This isn’t a criminal we’re talking about it’s a sports guy, why would his or a chefs political perspective matter enough to try to stop an event from happening like that. I like Kenjis cooking videos but I could tell there is a bit of arrogance when he claims to invent recipes or techniques that existed already just because he put them in a magazine.
I'm judging on the plain slice as i don't like Sicilian style... the crust on the plain slice didn't crack and it didn't have those nice toasted marks on the bottom... and they're from California 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 they're more than likely A holes then and should've stayed in California with the rest of em! Overall, this video didn't convince me.
I'm digging the local reviews. Keep them coming!
right?! I'm loving it
We're so lucky to have Slice Box in Magnolia. It's a weekly thing for us! Love the local reviews!
As a recent arrival to Seattle thank you for these recommendations!!
Its almost like every night is pizza night with these reviews.
I love slice box, it’s a couple time a month lunch stop for me. Consistent, love the slice options, very kind staff.

Casual Kenji leaning on walls. Love it
love seeing the reviews on the street!
So great of you to promote local businesses
Ahh, I used to go here for lunch often when I worked down here! Whenever my NY friends visit, they like going to Talariccos. (West Seattle) have you been there?
Thank you!!!! My hubby is from NY and misses this type of pizza! We will visit this place for sure! xo
I've prepared and cooked an innumerable number of pies and those are the nicest I've ever seen
loving this! I grew up in New York and I always miss my Sicilian pizzas. Hadn't found a good place, will try this!
The only time I’ve been starstruck was when you rode past my parks and recreation gardening crew on the arboretum trail. Didn’t wanna freak out out by screaming but man I wanted to.
Those look so good. And I still haven't gotten used to the culture of selling slices. It just never reached here.
alright as a new yorker i can confirm that those slices look fire
Huh, I literally ate at the sandwich place that’s like a one minute walk from here. Definitely going to try some after class one day.
Damn i pass by this place almost every day. Never thought to stop and grab a slice..

Was going to say this! I'm from RI and that Sicilian makes me think of great grandma's pizza.
Neapolitan and Abruzzese family too. Remember my grandmother's big chewy fat pizza slathered with anchovies. Good times 😢
Big Mario's is my current favorite NY style up here. Gonna have to give these guys a try.
Big Mario’s would be better if the sauce didn’t taste like candy!!
Straight to the point, just how I like it. Thanks.
Subscribed in case Kenji randomly moves to Wisconsin and rates all my local spots
Damn I guess I have to go here
Nice review, would def try this place if I ever visit Seattle. Glad they’re doing NY pizza justice, lol
Being a seattle , I am loving Kenji’s take on awesome places on this post Covid world

Great pizza spot! I’ve been to both and the Sodo location has more slice options but you can’t go wrong with a plain cheese slice either.
I might slightly prefer Rocco's, but this is a great spot.
Love this format of video. Also a Sicilian slice is my favorite style of pizza glad to see you showing it some love
Kenji! You got to come to the big city of Wilkeson and try Washingtons best pizza!
Beautiful
Have you tried Supreme in West Seattle? It's next to Lady Jaye. I really like both slice box and post alley pizza
I’ve been to the University location, not West Seattle.
Cool Seattle stuff. We still have good independent restaurants. Eat local ❤
Kenji lookin good. Looks 10 years younger
Wait. Sunny in Seattle?
oooo I love sheetpan pizza
That looks amazing!
Looks delicious, will try it out next time I'm in SODO. If you get a chance, check out Supreme in either West Seattle or U District; my favorite NY style slice in Seattle.
I’ve tried Supreme a few times. Are you from NY?

@@JKenjiLopezAlt forgot to mention Ian's Pizza by the Slice, on cap hill, another fun place. Not my favorite, but a great place to try out!
Shout out to Detroit style pizza!
These look great!
Slicebox is the best
big marios apizza in cap hill is my NY style slice in seattle
Oh god I've eaten like 600 cumulative pizza from this place, they rule.
I don't even know why I am watching this. I've never been to the US and I'm nowhere near to it
let's get you and Dave to eat some pizza. Make ammends.
can we all just take a moment to appreciate how damn handsome Kenji is!?
"Mmmm look at that bottom" - Kenji 🍑
Portland is becoming one of the pizza capitals and I'd love to see you do a pizza tour down there.
A guy from Slovakia who will never go to Seattle in his life ... hmmm noted !
I love a good pizza review

If nothing else they’re a BRILLIANT way to turn meals into business expense deductions! :)
Kenji doing 1 bite pizza reviews now 😊
I’ve been reviewing pizzas since 2008!
Exactly. I also felt it was unnecessary for Dave to clash with Kenji 😢 As a fan of both their work, I feel the need for a middle ground!
Kenji is doing 1 bite pizza reviews, but considerably less racist

Much better than one bite reviews ;)
