Is that specific enough for you or do I have to regurgitate it for you?
danielquick, they do, but unless it is a derailment, the vehicle's operator is usually at fault. Can't steer the train. It is on two, immobile rails, and most crossings have the pavement painted with a warning, cross bucks (gates) lights flashing, bells ringing, and the locomotive has horns that can be heard a mile or more away. Too many people think it looks cool to 'beat the train' as a crossing. It looks ignorant, is extremely dangerous, and tragedies are not fun to see. Death is for eternity.
@danielquick5696 good thing the serial sexual predator Donald J Trump administration deregulated the requirements for the train industry... Facts matter
This is what's wrong with big railroad companies like this one. They want to make billions of dollars but yet they don't want to spend any money to fix the railroad tracks.
It's not as simple as paying the employees buying new materials, it's also how much profit are you losing while that track is getting repair? It's about 1.5 million dollars an hour for a main line that's not working
In this case the flat car's trailing truck had derailed, and it went kablooey once it hit the crossing. Probably a bearing failure, or out of gauge, not necessarily a track issue.
This is why you don’t want to be the first car at the tracks as a train goes by. If you are stay further back than the arms, at least double a train car width
So, for those who may not no, there's a little blue sign at every railroad crossing. On it is a number that goes directly to that railroad's dispatch. If you ever witness any kind of train accident or an unsafe condition, if you can safely do so, call the number on that sign and let them know the crossing number and what's going on. Otherwise, in a situation like this, it might take much longer for emergency services to be notified or even for the crew on that train to get notified
truck drivers check their equipment before leaving on a trip .and someone should check these railroad cars before starting on a trip . we don't have brake men on railroads anymore.
It was lucky that the train was moving so slow, usually when a train derailment happens it is way more serious than that with a lot more damage to both the train and the property surrounding the wreck
If I was a little kid and I saw a derailment in person, I would be telling my friends about it for the next year. That's going to be one the coolest memories he'll ever have.
I tried to warn the railroad, called told them the support beam was rotten and ever time a train car would go across it, it would hit just a little. Two or three months later, big derealment. Some of the cars are still in the ditches. This was in Alabama.
In 1989, my car’s windshield was smashed by a faulty railroad crossing arm that came down with no warning as I was driving across the tracks. I tried to sue, and was met with a fierce team of lawyers for the railroad. I wound up settling for a third of what I should have received, plus brain damage and whiplash. The concussion has had lasting effects to this day.
Those arms still have those problems today because of "safety software." The railroad had to hire two crossing guards to stand at every road crossing acros the city for three years until they could fix their crappy software. And because it was associated with the light rail tracks, I believe the city ended up footing the bill for 3 years of 24/7 overtime for all those flaggers freezing their butts off
All those times as a kid I would put rocks on the track to watch the train crush them by my step grandmas house I had no idea how dangerous that was until now when I actually understand how dangerous a train really can be
Well a rock is not going to derail a train and unless you were like a foot away it was not dangerous either to watch a train go by. I use to do the samething. I think every kid who lives by the tracks have done it.
The wheels on that steel car where already off. They're sparkling before the crossing. The cars are only sitting on the trucks by a 6in. pin. It's not often but it can be sheared right off

Drag Queen anyone?
We use to find large bolts and nuts by the freight crossing up the road from our house.
The rail/police after getting tips of said problem, went to the building next to the tracts and asked if they could install cameras adjacent to the tracks worked a charm caught the same kids every week doing it the evening before the train came through every Friday am. And after about 4 weeks they were there waiting.
People suck!
NTSB is going to love that video!!
This is exactly why I do not pull right up to the tracks or those arms that go down. That’s why I stay three car lengths back when the train is coming.
And that’s why I skip the whole line waiting for a train and go in front of you.

We need to hold these railroad companies accountable for accidents so towns like that one in Ohio get justice
@@Medieval1-1 If you don't know what your talking about you shouldn't leave a comment about Jack squat. Do I have to explain every little detail about my comment for you to understand? The accident that happened in Ohio where a train derailed and put toxic material into the ground and water. If you don't think that can destroy a town then why don't you go there and drink the water? Is that specific enough for you or do I have to regurgitate it for you?
danielquick, they do, but unless it is a derailment, the vehicle's operator is usually at fault. Can't steer the train. It is on two, immobile rails, and most crossings have the pavement painted with a warning, cross bucks (gates) lights flashing, bells ringing, and the locomotive has horns that can be heard a mile or more away.
Too many people think it looks cool to 'beat the train' as a crossing.
It looks ignorant, is extremely dangerous, and tragedies are not fun to see.
Death is for eternity.
Cry about it😂
@danielquick5696 good thing the serial sexual predator Donald J Trump administration deregulated the requirements for the train industry... Facts matter
This is what's wrong with big railroad companies like this one. They want to make billions of dollars but yet they don't want to spend any money to fix the railroad tracks.
Did you forget about the trillion dollar infrastructure bill? Your moeny is supposed to be fixing it. FJB
Spending money on maintenance means officials have no money for that new Ferrari, Rolex, ect., so they save by not spending.
You don't see that everyday......
"Yeah but I'm sure gonna act like I do 😎" lol
Talk about being at the right place at the right time
This is why you don’t want to be the first car at the tracks as a train goes by. If you are stay further back than the arms, at least double a train car width
Prayers going out for all the trains and their staff for safety. Too many accidents lately. 🙏❤️
I stand in agreement with you! 🙏🙏❤
The first car , I believe, was a car carring copper rolls
So, for those who may not no, there's a little blue sign at every railroad crossing. On it is a number that goes directly to that railroad's dispatch. If you ever witness any kind of train accident or an unsafe condition, if you can safely do so, call the number on that sign and let them know the crossing number and what's going on. Otherwise, in a situation like this, it might take much longer for emergency services to be notified or even for the crew on that train to get notified
Might as well turn around and look for another crossing. That one is going to be blocked for awhile.
Just throw it in 4X and drive over it
What's more incredible and amazing about this train derailment, is the fact you were in a perfect spot to capture it all!😳
And had a camera rolling 🤔
No. Why should we pay maintenance, upgrades on railroads when the majority in the US are owned by two billionaires. Slumlords of the rails.

Wheels get sheared off the car in front, land in the car behind. That was kind off cool to watch. It really shows the built up energy of the train.
truck drivers check their equipment before leaving on a trip .and someone should check these railroad cars before starting on a trip . we don't have brake men on railroads anymore.
That's awesome that dad turns it into a teaching moment.
He didn't turn it into anything. 😂
All countries face the risk of another train passing by, while one train deraila
This is why pre trip inspections are so important
You sure it wasn’t a failure of the tracks?
Seems to be a combination of the two
Pre trip inspections are important but they will never find everything

When "taking a short cut" goes wrong
This is what happens when you 'deregulate' safety railroad guidelines... and people wonder why this happens.
Odd that it derailed at an intersection and this person just "happened" to be recording a train going by.
People record trains every day. Nothing odd about it
This could have been MUCH worse. Hearing that child's voice. Glad everyone is okay.
It was lucky that the train was moving so slow, usually when a train derailment happens it is way more serious than that with a lot more damage to both the train and the property surrounding the wreck
This whole family is just chill.👍
That's not "chill" That's braindead.
If I was a little kid and I saw a derailment in person, I would be telling my friends about it for the next year. That's going to be one the coolest memories he'll ever have.

Just be glad the coils inside that car are contained correctly.
Emergency brakes on point
The railroads are seriously hurting for people. We can expect a lot more of this for the foreseeable future
They have ALWAYS been happening, we have just become more aware after East Palestine.
when ya pay good and treat folks right, you will have people beating the paint off yur doors wanting to work fer ya....
I tried to warn the railroad, called told them the support beam was rotten and ever time a train car would go across it, it would hit just a little. Two or three months later, big derealment. Some of the cars are still in the ditches. This was in Alabama.
What crane cleaned up??? Heavy duty...
Thank goodness that that car stayed up right.great catch
Give that dad a tater tot and a football game ticket.
Never saw one where the trucks came off the car.
There is only about a 1.5 inch thick pin holding the truck (wheels) to the car
The train was on the ground already then hit the xing planks which popped the rear truck and the following tank car trucks
The weight of the tank above and a pin, no nuts and bolts. Basically it's just friction fit
It's a static gravity fit with a little 'oh jesus' pin holding all together. The pin is 'oh jesus I hope this gonna hold'
The only thing holding the car on the truck is the weight of the car.
That could have gone very seriously bad. Thank the good Lord that the train wasn't moving at a high rate of speed. WOW.

You needed a better lawyer & lots of publicity. 😮
Those arms still have those problems today because of "safety software." The railroad had to hire two crossing guards to stand at every road crossing acros the city for three years until they could fix their crappy software. And because it was associated with the light rail tracks, I believe the city ended up footing the bill for 3 years of 24/7 overtime for all those flaggers freezing their butts off
That sucks. I'd ask for a retrial but now with the medical records proving the lasting damage it caused you.

Now that’s called a train derailment son.
Cool Dad
“You had to go put that penny on the track dad!” 😂😂😂
All those times as a kid I would put rocks on the track to watch the train crush them by my step grandmas house I had no idea how dangerous that was until now when I actually understand how dangerous a train really can be
bro a rock doesn’t derail a train.
You were fine doing that. I remember putting coins on the tracks when I was a little kid. Shit was so cool.
@@allegorx58 yea I know that now lol
Well a rock is not going to derail a train and unless you were like a foot away it was not dangerous either to watch a train go by. I use to do the samething. I think every kid who lives by the tracks have done it.
And that's how a foreman loses their job.
They need to start checking the wheels on the trains, making sure they are attached properly to the train
The track/road grade crossing failed at the joint. The wheels hit the road bed and it sheared the mount for the wheel truck.
The train cars aren't bolted to the wheel trucks. They just sit in a cradle, and the weight of the car keeps them in place....most of the time!
@edsloan8535 there not mounded to the bottom dip 😂😂.
The wheels on that steel car where already off. They're sparkling before the crossing. The cars are only sitting on the trucks by a 6in. pin. It's not often but it can be sheared right off
@nitram4611 they was off before lol.
That’s called, “you’re making a u-turn” 😂
