the genius of him changing one lyric to "she'll see her baby Boy" and then continuing without changing the next lyric: "you're a pink pony girl and you dance at the club"
I cant stop thinking about how their two versions mirror the opposite emotions that come with living authentically. Hers feels like nervous joy of going against expectations to be happy, his feels like the moments of bittersweetness where you acknowledge that by going your own way you create distance and confusion between you and some if the people who knew you before. Its not worth giving up over but its change that evokes a type of grief Finding yourself is often both joy and trepidation.
What a way with words you have. You're so right though. It's not always an easy experience freeing yourself from expectation. You in the end have to swallow that disappointment of some other people that you may even still care about in order to live as yourself. That's just the truth of the matter. It's a raw somber truth and I hear it in this cover.
@@SamInFl “God what have you done? You’re a Pink Pony Girl and you dance at the club.” In Chappell’s version this line sounds like the mom is talking to Chappell Roan and asking her what she’s doing with her life. Accusing her of being a child of the nightlife and living in the clubs. In Orville’s version it sounds like the mom is talking to God. Asking him why he gave her a gay son.
You ever see something and realize you're witnessing a pivotal queer moment? That's how I feel about how Pink Pony Club is so important to a lot of queer folks right now❤️
100% how I feel. This song, Chappel Roan, Orville Peck and so many other queer artists on stages in front of the world singing their truth, love, pain and joy fills me with so much queer joy... but this song in particular gets right in my heart.
I like to think that the pov character in Chappel's version and the one in Orville's version are both dancing on opposite ends of the Pink Pony club dancefloor while singing this song internally at the exact same time.
First time I saw Chappell Roan’s video for this song, I immediately thought, “Orville Peck needs to do this song.” I’d love to see a Chappell/Orville duet someday.
This literally brought me to tears. Orville Peck has done that many times before, but Pink Pony Club has been very important for me the last few months. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love me some Chappell. But as a gay boy from the country with family on the Rez. This hits wayyy too hard. Thank you Mistress Peck! I still love you in Northern AZ, you’re always on my mind.
I didn’t grow up on the rez but I’m also queer and native!! It’s cool to see another person like me in the comments of a video of one of my favorite artists :)
ahhhh! ok i don’t want to take all the credit for this but i’ve been WILLING THIS to happen for such a long time…! this must have been so fucking awesome to see live, i can’t even! yee fucking haw, thank you so much for sharing this!

He does something similar in his Fancy cover! ("There stood a woman where a half-grown boy had stood")
drag❤️💙
A pink pony girl is a concept but he is his mums baby boy
Ngl, I teared up a bit. It's a powerful song and he did it justice.
@@whms1989that part always gets me without fail.
Orville and Chappell embodying the yeehaw gay genre make this the ultimate game recognizing game
I’m lovin the yehaw gay division of country so far!!!
We need to get a chappell roan cover of fancy next
Imagine Orville Peck and Chappell Roan getting together to make a proper Queen of the Rodeo x Pink Pony Club mashup, music video and all.
@ I pray for it every day
Yesss! the yee haw gay genre is exactly what 2024 needs, and beyond
Yee, and I can't emphasize this enough, Haw.

✨🥰 it totally feels like that! So moving and special!!
Moments and music like this make me so glad I’m alive right here and now.

This is how I felt when I heard Hair by Lady Gaga. This whole song makes me feel how Born This Way the album made me feel when I was in middle school
This is how I felt when I heard Smalltown Boy by the Bronski Beat

I'm a huge metal fan, why was this suggested to me? Why does it go so freaking hard?!?! Love it!
Chappell Roan created a song that will be sung at karaoke for the next 25 years.
First time I saw Chappell Roan’s video for this song, I immediately thought, “Orville Peck needs to do this song.” I’d love to see a Chappell/Orville duet someday.
I love Orville and Chapelle. They both have phenomenal voices, full of depth, emotion, timbre. Just wow. What a beautiful cover.
I hope he does an official recording, I love his take on it. Thank you so much for uploading!

Making this into more of a ballad is just absolutely beautiful, I’m legit almost in tears ❤
I absolutely LOVE that he took this pop song and made it a country ballad. WHEN IS THE COLLAB?!?!
I love how Chappells songs are covered. I think she would as well. Gorgeous ❤

Oh wow! This the first time hearing this version, but when I first heard Pink Pony Club I was sure I'd already heard Orville Peck do it.

The guitar solo was SO good. I hope they record it.
