Why Would A Loving God Include A Tree With Forbidden Fruit in the Garden of Eden?

  • Why would a caring Creator purposely place the 'Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil' smack dab in the middle of the garden of Eden while expressly warning his first children not to eat of its fruit? When you begin with the perspective of God as a tenderhearted Father, the answer may surprise you and will certainly help you to navigate deeper questions like: Why do I experience fear and anxiety? Where is God when hard things are happening? And maybe most importantly, why is it so hard at times to trust God and how can I grow to trust him more as a good Father?
Brent Lokker is an author, speaker and pastor sharing the exceptionally good news of God as our tender-hearted Father and how to live a vibrant life, filled with his love. Brent's church, Blazing Fire, meets on Saturday nights in Dublin, CA. www.blazingfire.org

God can do as He wants -- He doesn't need man's corrupt logic to do His Good.

Eating of the fruit is what made us become human
It's what separates us from the animals
The garden of eden is the story of the ascension of humanity
    God wanted us to grow

Actually no. Adam was already created in Gods image. Its the knowledge of evil that destroys faith. Adam was to overcome that evil. We now can overcome that evil because we learn that evil comes from those that walk after the flesh. Walking by the flesh means you have no hope and men act desperately when there is no hope. We now have hope because the promised one came to set us free from trying to please God through the flesh. For the flesh will not see God. The new creation and the new birth comes from the cross where Jesus took our sins upon himself setting us free from slavery to sin and death. We were also crucified with him and raised with him justified by faith that God was in Jesus doing the fathers work for those who could not pay their way out of it by works.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Yet while the whole world was in sin he came.
We now have to realize God is very much with us even when we feel far from him. Just like he was trying to get the hebrews to understand in the desert. There is none righteous no not one, which when you really think about that its a huge relief. Its not a statement of condemnation. Its a statement of no one has worked their way into heaven for heaven came to us. The righteousness we have now is given to us through the work of our savior the promised one. You cannot earn Gods love and kindness for he is love and its his very nature.

It's an ancient Hebrew fairy tale about a good god vs evil humans. The plot is designed to create fear, shame and guilt in little children and you fell for it.

That's a way looking at it
Or it's a story of how we ascended from the animals.
How we realized that ethics was something our brains not only could work on, it was something we wanted to work on.
Instead of following preprogrammed instincts, we wrestle with the question of what is good and evil.
The garden was the beginning of our journey into humanity.
The plot is to let us know that we have a powerful intellect. And with great power comes great responsibility, for the earth is in our care. We can nurture our home or destroy it. We can help other people...or not.
The story lets us know we have the power of choice in addition to our powerful intellect.
It's designed to let us know how powerful we are.
Yes, I fell for it! Maybe cause it's true. Our choices are powerful and have long lasting effects. It is worth it to try to figure out right and wrong. It is worth it to try to do good.
A story need not be literally true to demonstrate truths.

The serpent (aka OPHIS) is the fallen mindset. The fruit of the fallen mindset is believing a lie about oneself. Trees always represent persons as Jesus is the Tree of Life. For you shall be like a tree planted by streams…

Am I detecting some Baxter language in Patmos perhaps? I'm curious, if trees always represent persons and Jesus is the Tree of Life (to which I wholeheartedly agree), then the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil represents who?

I’m sorry to say, for some reason the RUclips algorithm directed me to your channel. I try to avoid ad hominem’s where ever possible, but I have not heard such nonsensical apologetics for months.
A loving father is in attendance and protects his children.
Your father is hidden, and fills your house with landmines and bear traps. Moreover, he knows in advance with 100% certainty that you’re going to trigger all of them. In any moral society you would be removed from your fathers ‘loving” care by social services.

Why must other humans who had nothing to do with Adam decision have to suffer the disastrous consequences of his actions. That doesn’t seem very loving in my mind. If i could teleport back in time and kill Adam and Eve to stop corruption of world I would without a second thought. My life has been pure hell and I don’t see god doing anything for me or all the other people suffering in this rotten world like 6 million jews who died in death camps in Nazi germany for a example.

What have you done for God? Think of a parent that has a child that is constantly disobedient? How does that parent feel when he knows what us best for you but you still want to do you own thing. How selfish. God created you! Adam and Eve are a depiction of his love for us. Even though they sinned he still gave us a way through Jesus. Satin had already fell from grace so it was bound to happen. How dare you cry about how bad God is. You have breath in your lungs because of him crying because of your tough life. Look what Jesus did on the cross to give you life and you are still complaining because you have no clue the love of God because your spiritual dead and choose not receive the gift of salvation.
