In 1978, I first played this game in a Chico, California Arcade. I was 13 and quickly discovered, I could not lose. I would repeatedly win games on this machine. I remember my Dad coming to bring me home. He watched me from behind win game after game until we finally left with about 6 free games waiting to play. I loved the game and sadly heve never seen it since then.
Happy's Flea Market, Roanoke VA, 1979. I was a 10-year-old squirt playing one of these pinballs when it was new! This video brings back a lot of memories.
My friend and I played this machine so much when we were kids. And he was so good at it that he rolled over the score on it. Racked up so many credits on it also.
This was one of the last Pins' that my father had... always pissed me off that I never got to play it, as the flippers wore out shortly after he got it (mid-80s,) before I could dump quarters into it. Oh well, got a Black Knight machine shortly afterwards (dual level, mag-saves,) and that was a heck of a treat.
For all the complaining about the banana flippers, I personally didn't find them much different than normal flippers aside from being easier to trap the ball and able to impart some really wicked spin with them as compared to ordinary flippers. Takes a little getting used to, but I could still hit targets and put the ball where I wanted it when I played Time Warp, the other game that had banana flippers on it (though Williams called them Curved Flippers, banana flippers is just a nickname due to the shape and the color)
Why do you tease us with the PAPA machines? I like to stop by there when visiting family out near there. Or do they have open days like a regular museum?
I was in high school during the disco era, and my theory is that the flippers were originally going to be stylized coke spoons. Be perfect for the Studio 54 crowd :)
when fancy flippers with bezels started to appear I knew the days of boxes of free 45's and pieces of broken slate to use as frisbee's were coming to an end ...
Couldn't it have been that it was repaired at some point in time? I mean they might've put the banana flippers in later on. I have no knowledge of it so I wouldn't know.
Time Warp (the other machine to use banana flippers) has a lot more going on. Personally I like it more, but this is still pretty cool. Awesome review as always!
This is such a sexy machine, Mark is right about the amazing design. I think the unique cocaine flippers are funny looking. This would be an awesome machine if you install some music (or boombox), and exchange the flippers with normal straight ones.
Man that ball drain seems a bit wide. Maybe it's the angle or the banana flippers that make it look a little wide. Also, this seems to be a bar trap pinball machine. Haven't finished the video yet but you may call it one in the vid shortly. Will see I suppose. Regardless, that definitely looks like a bar trap. No music since it's in a bar which usually already has music of some sort, and the weird flippers that make aiming and proper ball control suspiciously trivial and lastly that wide drain, aimed specifically to take quarters I think. In my opinion anyway. Would changing the flippers on this do anything to improve the game?
Actually, I believe there were two sound modes on this pin. One was for sci-fi effects, and the other was disco sounds. I think you could switch between the two.
This video makes me want to dress up in a silver jumpsuit, go to my local Walmart and just run around knocking people down and bouncing off of things. I guess that'd be more like bowling, though.
I GOT IT! The banana shaped flippers are because Elvis (I mean, the later Elvis with the white suit and the huge sideburns) loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches. What? Prove me wrong, people!
Allow me to finish marks joke..... The designers did so much coke, the banana flippers looked like regular flippers, so the only way to have fun on this machine, is on LOTS OF COKE......and in bell bottoms. Then it feels like regular pinball. And its a lot more interesting.
Lol, yeah, I would have expected some music or more effects from this machine. The table seems pretty basic overall, but the video was awesome, haha =)
I love banana flippers.

There’s one at the pinball gallery in malvern pa if your in the area
As far as the lack of music goes...I think they expected the bar, arcade, or whatever to be playing the music anyway. :-)

According to the original brochure, "The curved surface of this new flipper allows the player to put 'English' on the ball for the first time ever."
Listened to KC and the sunshine band on my way to work today. All because of you, Mark :)
1:48 listen to the sound it makes it sounds like Robotron
I don't know... The fact that he's wearing a vest just makes the review very awesome.
Mark, you were born in the disco pinball dimension! THAT'S cool!

What was the last song? It was cool
This guys is the coolest dude around, why grow up and become boring when you can stay young forever!
Aww man, there's an Attack from Mars table right nearby during the review. I wish Mark would review that one someday, it's my personal favorite table.
Never stop doing these videos!!! EVER!
2:14 curved flippers that makes youre aiming your shots nearly impossible
What is Happy's like now? I know they still have bingo, but is there still an arcade?
Why do you tease us with the PAPA machines?
I like to stop by there when visiting family out near there.

could this be the pinball machine from auction hunters?
Well, the Doctor once said "always bring bananas to a party".
Also, play the credits for time splitters future perfect while you play. ;)
Couldn't it have been that it was repaired at some point in time? I mean they might've put the banana flippers in later on.
I have no knowledge of it so I wouldn't know.
Do you have arcade games
Awesome that you are reviewing pinball games. Actually, I think you're the only prominent RUclipsr reviewing them.
That reminds me...back in WCW, wrestler Disco Inferno had a theme song called "Disco Fever".
Time Warp (the other machine to use banana flippers) has a lot more going on. Personally I like it more, but this is still pretty cool. Awesome review as always!
It would have been even more weird and ironic if that Super Straight table next to it had had the banana flippers.
SkateWorld memories on this PB machine.
This guy's videos are awesome
Thanks for another awesome review
Five bucks one of the next mini tournaments at PAPA 16 is going to be a 90's game with banana flippers.
CGR's disco music would have hit the charts during the 70's
The only other disco themed pinball machine I know about is Night Moves, a 1989 cocktail pin from Gottlieb / Premier
eight ball deluxe ... about all i can remember is where the machine was ... would love to see how it plays ...
I imagine Mark in the 70's looked just like the guy on the backglass of the pinball machine he's playing
You are a disco era baby, you were born into it, inherently...
Disco Fever is the best! You have to have special skills to aim the ball on those banana flippers!
I love the "super straight" pinball machine next to him.
Great review man.
This guy is so funny. He makes it clear he did not like the banana flippers. lol

great stuff
Putting a coin in sounds more like Joust after entering a high score 🤖
Actually, I believe there were two sound modes on this pin. One was for sci-fi effects, and the other was disco sounds. I think you could switch between the two.
I had a Disco Fever lunchbox in the 5th grade ;)
Remember "banana seats" on bicycles in the 70's? Maybe that's the reason for those bad boys.
@InecomCompany why don't you review ANY games from the counter strike series? It's so much fun
I remember in my day to play one of thid pinball machine only for 5 cents :)
I go bananas for Mark's reviews!
Well since those used to stand in discos and bars the music would have been played by the jukebox anyway :)
back when this game was released i think memory chips along with sound chips and amplifier chips where limited for pinball machines
this was uploaded on my birthday
I had one of those :)
Finally mark is dancing
Mark is way too obsessed about bananas. Someone get this guy a banana already! Sheesh.
I'd like to see this in Pinball Arcade.
Note though, the text below the banana flippers: 'FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY' LOL
This video makes me want to dress up in a silver jumpsuit, go to my local Walmart and just run around knocking people down and bouncing off of things. I guess that'd be more like bowling, though.
flagged for what? for awesomeness?
Does it has bananas
Those flippers aren't curved - they're GROOVY!
I GOT IT! The banana shaped flippers are because Elvis (I mean, the later Elvis with the white suit and the huge sideburns) loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
What? Prove me wrong, people!

Maybe this happened. The machine was built and tested and everyone thought it was boring, so they spiced it up with bananas.
mark,i know undertow already reviewed this game, but you should play coldwiner
I’m straight as those flippers
Play the Goldeneye 007 Sega Machine!
More awesomeness.
I think the machine kinda sounds like R2D2
"Disco Stu likes disco music"
The dude on the machine looks like 70s era Peter Parker.
"They're curved because they have done so much cocaine" 2:33
Useless trivia-- Paul Newman is playing this machine at the beginning of the movie The Verdict.
Hello Mark :)
Where's Hayzoos the coked up chicken when you need him!?
A logical explanation, they put a wrong music chip in it
lmfao i love this guy vid he should have more subs
Disco is Dead... this pinball machine killed it.
Nah, there's a little area with a couple of pool tables and 3 or 4 video games but nothing you'd call an arcade.
The game has marginally better sound than that. Unfortunately it was set to "Chime" mode.
Coked up! Where's that chicken?
they did so much cocaine they decided not to do it in lines anymore?
horrible and random concept with the banana flippers. i guess this was the time before they had the ramps and other things in pinball.
More like a pancake breakfast without pancakes.
...whats disco?
I have a curved disco myself....
der war geil.
Those flippers aren't bananas. They're coke spoons.
i dig diggy diggy hoooooooo wilson disco :D
Disco pinball without Disco? why not make a pinball machine without a ball?
sorry for the spam but at the end of the video i needed to shout: DISCO INFERNOOOO !!!
Maybe it's a reference to copacabana. /:(
What he is listening to 1:30
watch?v=RKoZMke594A
Funny, nowadays movie tie-in games are shitty console releases, in the 70's, movie tie-in games were shitty pinball machines.
Jesus Christ, He's 40 plus
Jive talking... :-) CIAO'
