Congratulations on having the first Farshore video I've seen! in the last few hours since this posted, that's apparently the only thing my RUclips subscription feed can talk about, haha.
Everdell is one of our favorites, so this seems like a must. The similarities are pretty striking, but there does seem to be enough differences to warrant the purchase. Thanks for the review!
Wow, this is really similar to Everdell, and looks to be mostly just a reskin of the same game without the Andrew Bosley artwork. Have the Everdell Complete Collection, not sure I need a new version. I look forward to you playing Everdell and a comparison. I'm sure many will have comparisons. :)
The comparison will post later today or tomorrow, but having played both (base only, no expansions), I like Farshore better. The boats and maps add different ways to score, and overall it feels like a better gateway than Everdell - the treasure tokens as wilds open up a lot of opportunities, and the scores are going to be higher because of the boats and maps, and I like high scoring games! But alison disagrees with me.
We posted our comparison video this afternoon that addresses the specific differences - there's plenty of things that farshor has that Everdell doesn't, and I enjoyed it more, but I don't know what the expansions might add that will do similar things for Everdell.
honestly, I don't think about them in the same category because of the dice mechanics used in Creature Comforts. Both scratch the card combo itch though (and the cute creatures). I (Alison) would probably choose Everdell over Creature Comforts because I prefer the strategy without the luck of the dice. But I also wouldn't turn down a chance to play CC again.
Everdell with the complete collection is a near perfect game, the games are tight, often victory is a 1pt difference.. the fact that sometimes the strategy you're going for just doesn't get to come to fruition is sort of rectified in Bellfare and New Leaf, so I add those to most games, and then I just rotate between the other expansions so every game has a bit of a new flavour but really having that collection, I just look at this game and immediately switch off, I don't need it when I have that giant box of Everdell on my shelf
We posted a comparison video this afternoon that addresses that idea - I really liked Farshore more than base Everdell - it felt more refined and streamlined, but I wouldn't be surprised if the expansions fill in some of those gaps, and if Farshore in reality takes the best things from the expansions and incorporates them into a single base game.
@@PlaytheGameHQ I do think base Farshore looks more polished than Everdell base. As someone who has several plays and loves Everdell I just think that my money would probably go somewhere else, and I think that's probably going to be the same for a lot of people in my position but I hope it goes well, and for people who haven't played either I'd probably recommend Farshore.. it'll be interesting either way to see how this does

would you choose this game over creature comforts?

I think the white bird is a puffin.

"A worker placement game where you will be placing your workers" might be the least valuable sentence I've ever heard 😂
