Congrats on the early success of your new channel. Your video production looks great and you’re very charismatic on screen. I bet a lot of new subscribers are headed your way in the near future!
You have a great review format! I own base Everdell and like it a lot so I was considering getting all the expansions one at a time every few months. Then I discovered some expansions can only be acquired with the complete collection, but the price of that is not good for the heart. Then I heard about Farshore and thought that would be the better way to jump in from the beginning and get all the expansions as they are released. You didn't mention price but Farshore isn't cheap. I can do it, but do I want to? I honestly don't know what I'm going to do yet besides keep watching videos like yours. Great job!
Nice overview! Love my Everdell collector's box. The duplicate-cards rule and ankers will be house-ruled/introduced by me from now on into all of my future Everdell game (Tickets and reservation tokens are already a must). I am still debating if I need this in addition. Let's see how the future expansions fit on this main board - considering the point-track-art as a board-frame.
I appreciate the thorough and balanced review! I'm trying to get the original Everdell off my Shelf of Shame (the last couple weekends have been busy), but it sounds like owning one means I don't need to own the other.
Great review! It's one of those things where I think I'd only have one in my collection, either Everdell or Farshore, since they are so so similar in gameplay. And the stuff falling from the lighthouse would drive me nuts 😅
Thanks for the review! I think I may be tempted to get this if I didn't have either, but happy to have original Everdell instead and not have the temptation to pick this one up, especially with Gen Con rapidly approaching
Great video! I totally agree with you. My wife and I played the original Everdell a lot and we still like it. I'd also expect some major gameplay changes from the new game. This new ocean theme is kind of similar to the old Pearlbrook expansion. The illustrations in the new version are more cartoonish I'd say and they lack that Pixar/Disney feel that the original game had.
I own Everdell and 2 of the expansions… haven’t played this yet, but my son has and he thinks I’d like it better because it is a bit simplified for those of us who have issues with “ analysis paralysis”.😊
Great review Board Game Buzz! Thank you for sharing your honest opinions about the pros and cons of this new game. The original Everdell is my favorite game I've ever played. Like you, I do wish Farshore would have had more marine wildlife on the cards, and a different shape of lighthouse tower that would accommodate the critters better. That would get really annoying very fast. However, I do really love the progression of the boat around that gorgeous board, and the treasure chest collection for more points is great for a beginner like me. Overall if money wasn't an issue, I would want this game because it is so stinking cute. But in this very expensive world money is an issue, and because it is so similar to Everdell in game play, I'll have to pass on this one. Great review though.
Carly thanks for being honest! These days it’s very hard to know who to trust because SO many tubers are paid reviews and opinions. Your channel will surpass them because you’re being real and up front. ❤
Publishers need to research the content creators before sending them games. That way you will have a greater chance of matching up a game that the reviewer will like, at least to some degree. If a publisher sends a reviewer a game that the reviewer does not like, that's on the publisher for sure.
Great review! Insightful and thoughtful. You pretty much confirmed everything I thought about Farshore. I, too, was severely disappointed when I saw what the "new" Everdell game was. This is basically a reimplementation of Everdell; not a sequel. I was hoping for more of what Expeditions is to Scythe - a new way to explore a familiar and beloved world with different mechanics and a different experience. This looks like it removed the tenser, more immersive, and more rewarding aspects of Everdell in order to make it easier to play. If someone were interested in Everdell but intimidated by all the existing content I would think this is a good jumping on point. But as someone who owns and loves all the existing Everdell content this is an easy pass.
The sign is absolutely awesome. Where did you go about getting that made??? Great review, as someone who loves the base game and still has the expansions to dive into, I'ma be holding off on this.
Oh I got really sad hearing about the lack of ocean animals. I thought for sure like all the birds would be like seagulls and pipers and stuff. And the animals would be gulf and ocean land and sea creatures. Thank you for a balanced and well thought out review.
Good review. I probably would have taken off a half point or something because it is such a rehash. It looks fun, but anyone who's already invested in Everdell and any expansions just won't have as rich an experience.
Well, the designers obviously knew how similar the game was to Everdell, so I have to wonder just who their intended audience is? Maybe they decided to do a redesign instead of a reprint. I need to do some research into their intentions. It seems to me that this should have been an expansion instead of a whole new game 🤔 Anyway, great review with some great insights. Viewers should be able to tell if this is a game for them or not.
Thank you so much! And yes I agree. That’s why I’m confused why they presented this as a “new game set in the Everdell world” … because it’s not really a new game lol! It is good! Just not really “New” 🤷♀️
i have the same impression about the artwork,,the original is better because its like more cozy and boots on the ground like theme XD ,if i remember correctly farshore has a different artist? and did i say something about the price? its too expensive that it feels like a cashgrab, maybe the only positive is its easier to teach which is a big deal for me,,but the art~
I think farshore would have done better if it wasn’t a stand-alone and instead was able to combined with Everdell or vice versa. It would incentivize people to purchase this if it added fun modules to Everdell or again vice versa.
Yea I can see that. I think I would have been received a bit better if it wasn’t marketed as a “new game” as hard as it was. Maybe introduced as a “new theming of Everdell” or something. It was really good though!! The gameplay was solid. Just like Everdell,
Yes! Thank you for your honest appraisal as opposed to simply glowing about everything as so many do.
You are welcome Larry!!

Thank youuu!! And yes! It’s crazy how much Forshore is going for right now! I’m fully expecting it to drop in price
You do this so good! The Game looks amazing. Cant wait to get my hands on.
Thank you so much!!!

Farshore is really goo! But yea... If you own Everdell.. You own farshore too LOL
It is clear that you are not afraid to give an honest opinion. Refreshing!
Always
Great and honest review, thank you!
My pleasure!

UGGGG it really did drive me CRAZYYY LOL!!! I was like "Who approved this?" LOL!

Yea I wish there would have been more changes from the original, But it did play really smooth!

Yuppp. My thoughts exactly!

My husband ordered it for me off of Etsy!!!!
Hello Great review! Whats about if I Am a more solo player? I know that farshore has a more complete solo mode than the base normal everdell
Oh I got really sad hearing about the lack of ocean animals. I thought for sure like all the birds would be like seagulls and pipers and stuff. And the animals would be gulf and ocean land and sea creatures. Thank you for a balanced and well thought out review.
Thank you @ameritrashtalk36
I was suprised at that too, why would they not put in more sea creatures, there are so many they could choose.
Good review. I probably would have taken off a half point or something because it is such a rehash. It looks fun, but anyone who's already invested in Everdell and any expansions just won't have as rich an experience.
Yup!!!
