Sorry you feel that way, all of the other feedback I’ve gotten this one has been positive, and it’s a fully custom script, but there’s plenty of other people teaching games so one of them will probably be a better fit for your learning style.

At the end of the day, you do what’s most fun for your group, especially when it’s a silly party game like this. The rules say you can use the language however you want as long as you are only using those 5 words/sounds. Just make sure you don’t get into charades territory. I think if you want to play in the full spirit of the rules then you should use a negative tone of voice and maybe a head shake, and eliminate the hand motions, but again, it’s a party game, as long as you’re not actually doing charades I think you’re okay.

@@trevorpierce6519 I don’t think you can do that, the chameleon only takes on the value, not the ability, of the card it’s pointing at and it can only point left or right, not down.

@@PlaytheGameHQ@trevorpierce6519 so yeah, I think the chameleon would be worth zero if placed as the 4th card on a row of three jackals, unless pointing at another 4th card on another row of three jackals directly adjacent to it. (pretty unlikely, but it could technically happen, since there are 6 jackals in the deck.)

I didn’t double check the rules and was thinking that the fourth card had to be a jackal, but it can be any card, so yeah, if you have a row of 3 jackals next to a row of 3 jackals and the chameleon is the fourth card and it’s pointing at another fourth card then it’s worth whatever that card is that it’s pointing at, but if it’s pointing at an empty space then it’s worth zero

You use a card action - either vision or oppression - to roll dice for the track. When you use that action you then roll the 5 dice to move up tue track. The only time you ever draw cards is at the end of the round when you’re drawing back up to 6, otherwise you’re always using one of your 3 preselected cards to dictate your action for your turn.

@@deaddancergaming I don’t have the rules in front of me but I believe if you have the ending ability you get to fully resolve the card, so yes, you get to do both actions when you play that card

This is a genuine question, what more do you want in a how to play video? It's fully scripted, touches on all elements of gameplay, with supporting graphics and text and 3 camera angles. Do you prefer sample hands or more examples in your how to plays or just a deeper explanation of the rules than you got here?

@PlaytheGameHQ I think an example round or at least played examples of mechanisms (depending on the game) would be really helpful.

I do tend to do more examples of mechanisms in more complex games, but it becomes really cumbersome to try to figure out how to play a multi-handed round with one person and keep things making sense since you can't script those parts, they can get kind of rambling, but it's definitely something I'll keep in mind in future videos

@@AaronOfYell wow, you’re right on that. The burn and turn is standard poker rules and that’s how I was taught the gang and how I’ve played every time so when I did the poker teach, I just used the standard rules and didn’t check to see if this rulebook followed that, I just assumed. It doesn’t make a huge difference either way, the burn and turn just breaks up cards that may not have been shuffled as well or are stacked together in the deck but you can play either way.

I know - I was trying to hit a specific timeframe for this one and definitely went faster than I should have and I have seen and taken that feedback seriously and slowed it down in more recent tutorials. For this one though, in the bottom right of the video window there's an option to adjust playback speed to .75, and yotube pitch shifts it so it doesn't sound wierd.

Yes, when you get an action card you choose who to give it to, or choose to keep it yourself but you never have to keep it for yourself. The only exception is second chance - you can only have one so You keep the first one for yourself but if you get another second chance you must give it to someone else. But the other action cards you get to choose who has to resolve it.

@ oh yeah, that change adds a lot of strategy, especially when it comes to freezing a runaway leader.

Which leads to another question which is does law of attraction apply to both face up and face down cards? Or only face up?

@@ZoevanDijk-g3b law of attraction only applies to face up cards. Until you flip them over they’re “unknown” so they don’t move with the law of attraction, and facedown cards won’t attract other facedown cards either.

Would you prefer they keep just reskinning the original game or take chances with using some of the core mechanics of risk in different ways? The theme works good, I think - the use of the sietches and the dreadnaught, and making each side have unique mechanics and objectives that at least loosely fit with the theme. They could have called it Risk Dune and just had different colored but otherwise identical troops for everyone, but I appreciate at least making an effort to do something different and incorporate the theme within the limitations of a mass market existing IP game.

I believe you would only take out one card per scorpion played so if there was more than one, you would still only remove one.

Yeah, this game caught fire this fall and they're currently out of stock on amazon but if you have a local game store they might have one!

Correct, if your opponent has 2 you can't have more than three - only one more than the other player at any given time.

The dealer deals 1 card to each player in order so that wouldn't be possible unless that person got dealt multiple flip 3's and took them all for themselves and got very lucky in the process, but outside of that extreme edge case everyone will get dealt cards until they bust, stop, or get 7, but as soon as someone gets 7 the round ends immediately even if there haven't been an equal number of turns.

It definitely can get mathy if you want to count cards and try to figure out how many of a certain card have already been played, but otherwise it's just basic addition for every card except the 2x bonus. It's a genuinely wonderful game so hopefully the math part won't be too intimidating!

Sorry, correction. The modifiers go above your cards and apply to all cards in your hand, but there’s only 1 x2 in the deck and it doubles the total of all of your non-modifier cards

Hey, glad it was helpful! So the answer to both questions is no, the scorpion and magnetic effects only happen when the card is placed, so if there’s nothing for the scorpion to kill then it does nothing and if there’s no room to pull something over when it’s placed, the magnetic effect just doesn’t happen for that card.
