My father was in a coma for 7 weeks. One week after the heart attack and doctors alredy wanted to unplug the machine. i said no. He woke up after 7 weeks. If i had said yeas he probably would no be here right now. its been 6 years and he is still here.
my brother got into a bad car accident & the doctors said he became brain dead. I never understood why they couldn't just keep him alive with the machines, but now I do. thanks dnews.
Jennifer G I'm so sorry. My friend in band was in a car accident where they called him brain dead. But he came back I saw him today and I love him. I was happy he was back I'm sorry for your death.😭😭
My baby sister was braindead earlier this year, one day she was fine and the next day I came home from school and got a call that my sister was braindead in that evening my mom pulled the plug, we didn't even got to send the birthcarts, One day I had a sister and the next I didn't. Rest in Peace sissy she got to be 5 weeks old💜😢
@@Pensive_117 I don't exactly know how, but she was born with a malformation inside her body, it had caused multiple brainbleeds. We unfortunatly did not know about her condition until it was too late, but even if we knew there was nothing we could have done, her condition was a ticking timebomb... at least she had a normal life for the 5 weeks she was alive💜
my cousin died this way. her blood sugar was so high (550) which caused something called hyperglycemic hyperosmolar nonketotic syndrome (HHNS).if untreated immediately it starts damaging everything in the body... and because she was misdiagnosed at first, it was too late... the brain was already damaged. she was on life support for two weeks n then she passed away .. she was my age 21 she was my best friend
My grandpa was pronounced brain dead on Friday.. today they disconnected him from life support. They said he can go another few hours or a couple days on his own before he passes.. remember your loved ones and don’t let grudges hold you back. This video helps get some closure, thank you!
I was in a coma for two days in 2002. I'm very lucky to not have suffered any lasting damage to my brain or organs and I am so grateful that was the case. After coming across this video I have decided to express my gratitude for this daily. I have a lot I should be more grateful for.
I understand you thoroughly. I was in a Coma for 3 weeks after my heart stopped for ... 63 minutes ! - Even the hospital don't understand fully and the fact that my brain has recuperated after such a lack of oxygen is a miracle. I had to learn how to walk talk and write. Very frustrating, and i'll never be 100%. But We are so lucky. Cherish every day you live.
My grandmother has been in a coma for four years now. She fell into cardiac arrest and when paramedics arrived, it was too late (if blood flow is disrupted to your brain for even minutes, it can cause severe drain damage). Over the course of years, she was passed around from hospital to hospital until she ended up having her life support set up at her house. My grandfather now takes care of her along with my uncle on occasion. P.S: This isn’t intended as likebait. I just wanted to comment my story for anyone interested or can relate to it.
My grandmother died of cardiac arrest. When my Aunt and Uncle found her, she was warm but started to get cold. Even if they could, she probably would have turn out the same as your grandmother, on life support. There but nobody upstairs type of thing.
I can relate just lost someone close. 1 week and a day before my birthday and I was so excited for ec0veryone to be eating and celebrating. What hurts the most is not that he passed away really, but how scared he must have been. A great person with a big ❤. Thankyou for sharing. Its tough
My mother just passed away over the holidays. She went into the hospital for a broken hip. When the checked her breathing it was very low due to cigarett smoking. They put her into a coma and hooked her up to a breathing machine. They could do nothing for her broken hip due to her inability to breath on her own. She was in the hospital a couple of weeks. They told me she was brain dead and wanted to turn the breathing machine off. I was not there due to the distance i lived away fom her but my aunt and cousin was with her when she passed. They tell me she was gasping for air and said it was normal. From what i understand in this video if she was brain dead she would not have been gasping. That is very disturbing to me..
Thats what i believe too. How does a person go into the hospital with a broken hip and dead 2 weeks later? They said her oxygen level was low and put her ona ventilator. That i believe was true. Suddenly uncapable of breathing on her own? It was her 2nd time around with that. The hospital claimed they tested her and said there was no brain activity.
Big June mind your own business. I will say what ever i like when ever i like and it's nothing for you to critize me about. It's my right. So go away with your negitivity.
The breathing could be due to part of the brain stem still kicking, but that would not allow a human being to be a human being. Brain stems keep the human life support going, such as allowing a 'vegetable' to breathe. The brain test used to determine brain death knows how to read the brain, knowing what parts function and what does not. As for going from broken hip to brain death, many things can cause it. People catch infections such as MRSA staph infections and pneumonia. Your mother could also have had something that did not immediately show itself until after hospitalization.
In 2008 a woman named Val Thomas (not sure about the last name) was declared brain dead but she started talking to nurses when they came to unhook her life support.
my husband has had a very bad stroke. He Is only 39 years old. The doctor said he is brain dead. I’m coming to you to ask if you can pray for him? Can you ask others to pray for him? We are asking God for a miracle. We need all the prayers we can get right now. His name is Jose Aguilera. Please pray. Thank you.
My son he is vegetative State 7 year 40 years he have trach the E n t doctor don't want to help him not even try if he can breathe on his own he is in the nursing home how can l get him the help he is at medilaga of starlight hight do l need to get a leg attorney
The father of my grandson had a seizure and went into a coma. Later he was pronounced brain dead... They sent him to hospital in our capital city to harvest his organs for donations. As they took him off life support to harvest organs he came to and is alive and recovering well. It's been over 2 months since he woke up. They are filing a lawsuit
My siblings and I, sadly, had gotten to learn the distinction between a vegetative state, comatose and brain death in the one-week that followed my mom's cardiac arrest at the hospital. Considering it's only been eight months ago, I was actually surprised at how I was able to sit through this video without feeling all emotional.
I was in a coma for 3 weeks after our convoy fell into a 30 foot deep river, 1 died and 4 of us managed to survive AND my captain we were the only ones who got hurt i was 3 weeks in a coma the first 17 days i never had dreams the next 4 days i had dreams in those dreams everything made sense it was like i was really living a real life when i woke up i thought i was at home i didnt remember the 2 months i was in afghanistan I only remember the 2 months before the accident thank God that were no damages ony brain 6 months after the accident i was back the way I was before that accident I stay 3 more years in the military
A close family member was pronounced brain dead last year, I got to see her a couple of times while she was still in her bed in the intensive care unit, but before being allowed to see her, the doctor did tell us that she was already dead. It was very painful and sad.
Harley Quinn Decapitated people aren't dead for that reason, they still have to suffocate since it only severed the brain from its life support. If the brain dies, you die, everything else in your past body can still live normally for only a certain amount of time.
Issa You are absolutely right. My sister had a friend that was in the hospital sick for a while and then passed away. The doctors said that he was dead and nothing could be done. Well, when it was time to bury him he woke up in the morgue. True story. This happened when I was a kid 11 or 12 age and I will never forget it. It let's me know that doctors still screw up. Sometime you will still hear stories of people waking up in the morgue in 2018.
Actually a person in a coma CAN be aware, at least partially. There have been several people who have come out of coma, even after years, and report know who talked to them, and even what they said.
@@melaninduh7962 the love of my life is currently in a coma and this is my greatest fear…. I feel that he is still in there and I want to give him a fighting chance.
i can’t hide in denial anymore. someone I know is pretty much dead and i don’t know how to feel about that. she left a son behind. people can leave so suddenly. it’s crazy and it fucks me up.
The love of my life decided to end his own life, but was in hospital for 5,5 days being brain dead. I've always had an unconcious grudge against his parents for not keeping him on life support longer to wait for a miracle. It kinda gives me closure knowing this. So thanks. :)
My brother has been in a vegetative state for 4 days now and today they are running test on him to declare him brain dead 😢 once that’s done he will continue living by donating his organs that are eligible to those who are in need. Cherish your loved ones!
All I'm going to say is that if I were to go be brain dead, I have only one wish: to be surrounded by my loved ones to say their goodbyes and have them pull the plug. I feel that it's not fair to have them suffer emotionally, psychologically, and not to mention financially, especially if there is little to zero chance that I'll recover. The better option would be to just let my body die so I can be free. To quote Panic! At the Disco, "If you love me, let me go".
My dad had a massive stroke and was declared brain dead last morning. Judging by the size of the bleed he may have even been dead on Mother's day, when he had the stroke. These videos help me to understand. This is such a difficult time. God, I love him so much.
one of my relatives is said Brain dead by the doctors, we are not sure how long to keep her on the ventilation expecting regaining her consciousness back, she's been on ventilator for 3 days now. Update: She's declared dead & we buried the body also
I was reading one article looking at the maximum amount of time that auditory processing could take place after sudden cardiac arrest. 7-8 minutes. Pretty horrific. The ability to see, move or do anything is just a few seconds. This kind of makes sense because (Pertinent info I'm a paramedic) the number of unresponsive people who remember sirens is crazy. Anyway the scary thing is. Imagine you are terminally ill in hospital, you go into cardiac arrest and cannot be revived. You are probably going to hear people give up and declare you dead before that auditory processing shuts down.
I knew a dog that was pronounced brain dead, then the vets left the room to tell the dogs foster. A couple minutes later they walked back in and the dog was lifting her head up and looking around. She was too small for the transplant she needed and I don't know if she survived. I met her an heard her story and wanted to tell the story of the little miracle pup. She was the sweetest little thing.
My brother was in a coma for 3 years..but here's how he got into it. So ik no one will read this. My family and I went to a birthday party in some kind of woods. There were a lot playgrounds in the area, and my parents took us so we can play in them.I had 6 siblings, so it was hard strangling all of them in one park and looking after all of them. My brother, he was about 6 or 7 at the time.I was about 4? And we were playing, of coarse. We Don't know completely what caused him to get sick. If he was playing and touched his eyes, mouth, or nose. But after the party and we all went home, he starting throwing up. My mom thought he ate too much or ran around right after he ate, so she just thought to give him medicine and the next he would be fine. But he wasn't fine.Over about a week, he was constantly vomiting and just really sick. My mom took him to the doctor, and she said it can be a stomach flu, so she gave him medication. But the 2nd most worst day of my life happened. So my sisters and I were just playing around. And we heard him vomiting, as usual :( Then we hear my mom panicking, and screamjng for help. We walk into the room she was in and we saw his eyes rolled back to his head, him shaking really hard, and white stuff coming out his mouth. I was obvious it was a seizure, but I was 4 so I didnt know. My mom said call for my dad, and my dad came upstairs. He sae him and picked him up. He took him to the hospital. So my sisters, the oldest was about 10 to 12. She said something really bad happened. But she tried to call me down and say he's just sick, so I wouldn't worry. But later I start worrying, becaus my mom wasn't coming home and it was already 8 . So I went to sleep. But now that I'm ten, I understand everything that happened. My mom stayed overnight at the hospital with him, and my dad came home to stay with us. He was in the hospital for a couple days. But...he went into a coma. I was 4, so my mom said he was sleeping for a long time. I said " when is he coming home?"They said,in a couple of weeks. But it wasn't a couple of weeks. He was passed to e hospital in 3 years. One year in each hospital. But on June 21st, 2015, the absolute worst day of my life..at 7:00 pm...he died. My mom and dad were at the store, and the hospital called. They said he wasn't looking so well. They asked my parents to come imidiently, sorry for the spelling. So my parents, scared, rushed to the hospital. It was 45 minutes away, probably an hour with traffic. But it was too late. They tried to revive him...but he was already out. And he was...dead 😔The next morning, at this time I was 7 and in 2nd grade. My parents woke me up with the worst news ever. He sajd he was dead.I cry and cry.I didn't go to school because I was just miserable. And that's my story,I'm ten and talk to him everyday. Sometimes, he leaves messages. Once I saw one of his stuffed animals move.I wasmt frightened at all. I was glad. He heard me. 💖
Hana, I’m glad you talk to your brother. I recently experienced a catastrophic cardiac arrest. I was clinically dead for close to an hour. For several days afterwards I was placed on life support but was officially brain dead. My fiancé and daughter held my hand and talked to me every day praying for me to come back to life. I am alive now. God bless.
My mother as just pronounced brain dead this morning and haven’t been able to cope. I associated this term with a coma and didn’t understand why we can’t wait for her to awaken, but now I understand. Thank you.
One of my best friends drowned and got pulled out of the water too late. In hospital he was on life support and had spasms. We assumed we could slowly help him revive, even if it costs us years and years! But the doctor told us he was technically braindead and there was no hope. Then they pulled the plug and it was done! A week later I saw him pale and doll-like in a coffin.... Dead... It is a traumatic experience that I have to deal with for the rest of my life! I still can't believe it actually, it went by so fast... :(
My loved one expired by brain dead...met with an bike accident without helmet...he fight for 3 days in icu at 4th day doctor gave zero hope...teir family decided to donate organs for needy... finally we lost him in 5th day...sorry for my english hope you all understand my emotion...pls wear helmets always...
I have a friend who suffered a bad dirt bike accident and was in a coma for 8 months with severe brain damage he managed to wake up after the 8 months and he’s now actually going through therapy and hopefully can recover as much as he can but I know he will never be 100% again but I have faith in him
I have performed countless brain death studies. Its a very specific protocol and considers all things from vital signs, medications involved, movements, and surrounding equipment. Often times family members are in disbelief and continue to keep their family member on life support for weeks and even months. In fairness they just need more time to process the loss but most people have zero trust in medicine. So they refuse to believe bad news.
You simply do not know what you are talking about with comas. I know people that were in comas and were aware of what was happening around them They just couldn't respond..Also there are many stories of people recovering from so called brain death. One just happened recently and was on the news...
You cannot recover from being brain dead. When you're brain dead you have no activity in your brain and your body is only able to be kept alive with machines, so you're wrong.
Roy Jones Aware? No they are not. Their senses still work, and they can dream about their surroundings based on the received sensory input. That doesn't mean that they know what is happening at all.
BigBlueRed 26 My good friend was in a coma and diagnosed as technically dead and she clearly remembers the nurses and what they were doing to her. They saw her hand moving so they put a pen in it and put paper underneath and she wrote about what was going on in the room at that time. Eventually she fully regained consciousness and has thrived ever since. The doctors have no explanation as to how she survived and with no brain damage whatsoever. They said it was a miracle.
My friend she was 9 she was rushed to the er but it was too late the nurse came in and gave us the bad news, she was brain dead. Her mom did not want her to suffer so she turnt off life support, Rip Gabby 2002-2017. I CRY EVERYTIME I THINK OF HER!
My mother passed away several years ago they said half of her brain was dead so they said she would not wake up if she did she would be a vegetable so they stopped her ventilator. If half your brain is dead can you still live a normal life or close to it
Kevin Harris My dad is brain dead right now and please pray for me.And also I think if you survived the brain dead you prolly be normal or have a difficultys.
Brain dead diagnosis is a LIE...It is a LIE to get parents to SIGN FORMS so doctors can MURDER the patient to harvest the ORGANS. I have witnessed this murderous act of these quacks of the AMA. Sad but true. BOTH TIMES I witnessed parents resisting the lies and the badgering of the doctors to sign the forms and both children recovered fully. They were told the child was brain dead, if the child lived it would be a vegetable and never walk, blah, blah, blah. THESE QUACKS who serve the sorcery of the pharma cartel should be charged with MURDER. They murder people with abortions, vaccines, poisons for medicines and organ harvesting. It is sickening to watch the sheep run to these quacks to take tests that are literal traps to lie that the people will need some toxic concoction of pharma for life. I have witnessed that these tests are a FRAUD and are used to deceive. YOU ARE A WHOLE BEING, not a bunch of parts. The only good in the AMA are emergency rooms, until they start the organ harvesting lie. People can fix their own body through detoxing the pharma poisons, and nourishing the body and the WHOLE BODY HEALS. Here is pharmaceutical cartel's hit list website of the real cures www.quackwatch.com Our gov has been infiltrated by the sorcery of the pharma cartel and they make laws to "outlaw" the cures, so doctors will push only pharma drugs. FIRE THE AMA quacks and take responsibility for your health. Don't be deceived by these devils in white coats. www.quackwatch.com YOU can use the cures, but doctors cannot cure or they may be killed or black listed. See how many AMA doctors are on the quackwatch.com page If you want to cure cancer, you will find that no matter what is wrong with the body, the body will heal as it is a whole being, not a bunch of parts. These are cancer cures, but the whole body is what heals the body, not the foods or cleansing. Cellular communications are divinely led by a supernatural light that sends and receives messages between every cell. IN HIM, you live and move and have your being. www.cancertutor.com This doctor rebelled against pharma and imagine what the truth will do to the cancer industry. By the way, toxins causes cancers and pharma pushes toxins for medicines, puts toxins in our food, land, air, water, vaccines, medicines and you wonder why babies are getting cancers today? www.cancerisafungus.com
JesusIsLord OfAll Im pretty sure people would know if a doctor illegally harvested an organ. plus all the organs are kept track of, because theyre important.
Are we just conscious thoughts? If your brain gets corrupted, say damaged, and delete your memory, will that person (human body) still be you? If I'm correct, we are no different than AI. Organic Intelligence. So, by the same token, we could transfer our thoughts to another entity, such as a robot, and live as AI. The issue is that the body and brain that nurtured those thoughts (the original you) will no longer be there to keep them growing or changing them. Your thoughts would be frozen in time.. forever..
SuperMan It's all thought provoking however the answer is simply that everything is just a illusion. Technically, we are different people every Planck unit of time. If we were to teleport (dying then reincarnating at another location technically), we would be the same person, and although this seems different from just existing normally, it is actually physically the same. If our memories and cognitive abilities were transferred to a robot, it would think it were you, and by the definition of "you", it is. But at the same time it's not! So basically, what is consciousness? An illusion.
SuperMan And yes without our conscious thoughts, we aren't us. Also the AI we'd be transferred to would most likely have the capabilities of a learning human brain (because it wouldn't really be US otherwise due to the difference in existence without the ability to change).
I mean, so many things can change your personality, you can also suffer from memory loss, etc too. Trust me, I've had a psychotic break before. I was still there but I wasn't in control of me or my body. The person that made me wasn't. It's like someone else took control of me. I still am mentally ill but I haven't had one in awhile.
People in comas have measurable change sin their vital signs when they hear loved ones voices. Heart rate changes, BP changes, breathing patterns speed up. Even I. Thats state qe love.
I was in a coma for 12 hours. The Doctors say, there was no brain damage BUT they didn't do any test after I came out of the coma. How is this possible & how do they know without doing any test ? Also, I have bipolar 1 disorder so I haven't been mentally well for a very long time. How do they know this is not from being in the coma.....or do they really NOT know?????
Sounds like you could have suffered a TBI. Some patients seem to recover, but then later develop mental illness. Your coma and BPD could certainly be related.
when someone is declared brain-dead, and they have to remove the life support from the brain-dead person, do they simply disconnect you and allow you to "die" from oxygen deprivation to the brain, or is there a general humane way to do it? what's the procedure?
from The Wizard of Oz If I Only Had A Brain .. I could while away the hours Conferrin' with the flowers Consultin' with the rain And my head, I'd be scratchin' While my thoughts were busy hatchin' If I only had a brain I'd unravel every riddle For any individ'al In trouble or in pain With the thoughts you'll be thinkin' You could be another Lincoln If you only had a brain Oh, I could tell you why the ocean's near the shore I could think of things I never thunk before And then I'd sit and think some more I would not be just a nothin' My head all full of stuffin' My heart all full of pain I would dance and be merry Life would be a ding-a-derry If I only had a brain Gosh, it would be awful pleasin' To reason out the reason For things I can't explain Then perhaps I'll deserve your And be even worthy of you If I only had a brain
i can concur a coma is like an intense nap! i was in a medically induced coma for a Month after a stroke, when i woke up i was told i was out for a Month! just felt like a 5min nap!
I would think it depends on what you mean by "dead". Your body doesn't always die all at once. Remember you are a SYSTEM of living things. When you die these systems start failing (dying), but these failures don't always take place at the same time.
my sister died in brain death she was having eye surgery in a surery they didnt see her oxygen is not working afer one week she died . rest in heaven my beautiful sis.
If you can read this it's time for you to wake up. You've been in a coma for 20 years and have created an artificial reality to live in. Also we need you awake to file your tax return. It's severely overdue and I kinda crashed your car.
Explain to me why doctor's would deprive their patients oxygen to determine brain death? Wouldn't that kind of secure the death of the brain? Just asking. Makes zero sense to me, but I'm no doctor. I love and miss you Dad and hope I made the correct decision by listening to doctors.
Because the body at its most basic function knows to breathe..... Its testing to see if any part of the Brain stem, which regulates basic body function, is doing anything
Marianne Simani Yup always believe in Christ and miracles do happen and my dad is brain dead too and always pray and pray because praying is the most powerful thing that no one can stop and god is listening to your prayers and don't lose hope.
* patient wakes from coma ....5 more minutes!!! * Very unfortunate technicalities and so much pain for the families that watch over them. Blessings and strength to those having to go through this
My friend died this way. She had an allergic shock. Ate a cake of nut and got into a hospital. Fallen into coma.. parents thought she couldn't make it so they thought they'll stop the machines a day after... but than she got brain dead. Nearly a year since she died. 9th of May 2017 🕇 Rest in peace! I will never forget our beautiful time Paula! ❤
Is it true the brain it's self doesn't actually feel pain and if that's true then why would they keep a hospital room soo cold" to help stimulate the brain if possible while someone is on ventilator in a medically induced coma being monitored, eyes kept open and smothered with Vaseline type lubercante so their eyes don't dry out and if eyes can dry out and covered in lube, would your eyes water at all? In beginning? hours later? Both eyes? just one eye? Neither one?
What I find really amazing is when the doctors declare someone brain dead and they actually remove all life support but the person doesn't die so I guess there really wouldn't brain-dead where they and actually wake up what do you call that you didn't mention that state did you.
The doctors have called my father brain dead, vegetative state, and coma due to lack of oxygen to the brain. Basically caused by a strangulation. He has has been on a breathing machine for 3 years now. When I go see him i talk to him and sometimes tears run down his face and he squeezes my hand with a few fingers... he feels pain and they say that he can hear me. I was just told today that there is a netting planned to consider giving him morphine and taking him off of the ventilator. I don’t know how I feel about it. I’ve been told it’s cruel to keep him in this condition which I understand that it isn’t a great life for him at this point but at the same time I believe that he is a fighter and I have seen very very slow progress. The fact that it hasn’t gotten worse and his brain isn’t dying out more and more means a lot to me.
Question: How long can a "brain dead" person live, its body, that is? If the brain is dead, then does it actually start to disintegrate over time, like other dead body parts would (frostbite)?
If i understand him correctly, roughly 1 week. As long as the brain stem is functioning that is. If not, death is immediate, with the immune system being the thing that lasts longest. 12 to 24 hours as far as i know. Someone might pick up my comment and go in to more accurate detail on it.
Well hes corfimend dead and tonight there gunna unplug the machine. And yeah he did get attack. If he got stabbed somewhere else he would've survived🤧😰😭😫
Have you ever done a video on Brain Hemorrhages? I am curious on how they can be caused, can they develop over time and how long can you survive with one?
If a person who is “brain dead” moves there arms, legs and even opens there eyes responds to people talking, and could even squeeze a hand be really brain dead? He even choked on the tubes when he was I guess “coming too”. Thank you for your help, please respond whenever you get this. They’re telling us to think about dnr but I don’t think he’s really gone.
yea this actually helped me understand what brain dead is. my dad had an accident with a gun and was in a coma for a few days before being pronounced brain dead and my mom said ok to "pulling the plug" I was so mad at her for like a whole year and I didn't know why she did just let him come back from it
One of my bros just died on July 4th, he was at a household firework party and there were too many fireworks together causing a huge explosion and the fireworks started shooting everywhere. My friend aswell as 6 others were forced to take cover and jump into a pond, unfortunately my friend jumped in an landed on a huge rock knocking him unconscious and making him fall into a comma. The doctors said he was brain dead 5 hours later and pulled the cord 😭
This happened to my god brother he accidentally drowned thought he would make it I still had hope after the doctors said he was brain dead sadly they took him off life support just 3 days later.💔
everyone wants it including me. But it would be "wanted" for a long time because of the randomness and the vast of unnoticeable potential. Hope no one be mad about this. Just wanted to shared my thoughts.
My husband had a brain stroke ( pontine hemorrhage) that's what doc said. Till the 4 th day he was showing some signs of movement and on the 5 th day during the MRI also doctor gave me positive sign that it is getting better now, and suddenly after shifting him back to ICU after 15 mins they told me brain dead. Still cannot accept it. Don't understand what went wrong. Was it something frm the doctors side.
Been through this with my sister its so hard to go through.. I didn't want to be there when they turned the machines off.. They did try everything they could for 10 days unfortunately she was never going to be able to wake from the coma
Depends on how you define what constitutes a person and what constitutes living. If you define a person as simply being a body then yes, so long as the body lives the person is alive. However, if you define a person as the stream of consciousness within the mind of that body then no, a brain dead body can no longer sustain a stream of consciousness and therefore the person is dead regardless of if the body lives or not.
My father was in a coma for 7 weeks. One week after the heart attack and doctors alredy wanted to unplug the machine. i said no. He woke up after 7 weeks. If i had said yeas he probably would no be here right now. its been 6 years and he is still here.

Update?? How is she now?

Jack Quick Holy fucking shit!
yeah thats scary,
The brainstem also plays an important role in the regulation of cardiac and respiratory function, consciousness, and the sleep cycle.
I knew a dog that was pronounced brain dead, then the vets left the room to tell the dogs foster. A couple minutes later they walked back in and the dog was lifting her head up and looking around.

I feel depressed after learning about this 😢 😢😢😢
I have performed countless brain death studies.
Roy Jones it's sad that people who were organ donors died bc they were so called brain dead while they could've still recovered

At what point does “having hope” become being selfish?
Are we just conscious thoughts? If your brain gets corrupted, say damaged, and delete your memory, will that person (human body) still be you? If I'm correct, we are no different than AI. Organic Intelligence. So, by the same token, we could transfer our thoughts to another entity, such as a robot, and live as AI. The issue is that the body and brain that nurtured those thoughts (the original you) will no longer be there to keep them growing or changing them. Your thoughts would be frozen in time.. forever..
Yea
I mean, thought and feelings yeah, but its basically impossible to simulate consciousness on a computer.

I think they give you something for the pain. Idk though.

@@yaminienterprisingllc7217 I understand this. But in certain cases, like a methadone overdose, do the same rules apply? Again, just asking?
please pray for my aunt ( its confusing) she was declared brain dead today miracles can happen :(
Marianne Simani Yup always believe in Christ and miracles do happen and my dad is brain dead too and always pray and pray because praying is the most powerful thing that no one can stop and god is listening to your prayers and don't lose hope.
BeastX KingV if God knows everything why do you have to pray?
* patient wakes from coma ....5 more minutes!!! *
Very unfortunate technicalities and so much pain for the families that watch over them.

Rest in peace!
Here tnt praying my best friend will wake up tmr... My mind is running 😢
My dad was in a vegetative state due to cardiac arrest on October 18, 2022. Ventilator removal was done on Nov 4, 2023, and he died Nov 9, 2022.
Here after DMX was announced brain dead🤦🏾♂️
I knew it the day he overdosed it wasn’t his first time and when he was announced brain dead I knew he fucked up bad this time
My friends jus passed away dis morning from a car crash brain dead LLA🕊️
Here for DMX
What I find really amazing is when the doctors declare someone brain dead and they actually remove all life support but the person doesn't die so I guess there really wouldn't brain-dead where they and actually wake up what do you call that you didn't mention that state did you.
If I'm in a vegetative state feed me meat
I will feed you a vegan gluten free diet and you won't be able to stop me.

He is in the VA hospital in San Antonio.
I’m so happy I’ve never had to know anyone in this situation 🙏🏻
my maternal grandmother is currently in hospital and doctor said that she is critically serious
My cousin got stabbed in the heart and he has brain dead and he sitting in a hospital please pray
Well hes corfimend dead and tonight there gunna unplug the machine. And yeah he did get attack. If he got stabbed somewhere else he would've survived🤧😰😭😫
"Your brain is pretty vital for that whole 'staying alive' thing" 🤣🤣🤣
Measurable Brian activity being the key phrase. We learn every day
Have you ever done a video on Brain Hemorrhages? I am curious on how they can be caused, can they develop over time and how long can you survive with one?
If a person who is “brain dead” moves there arms, legs and even opens there eyes responds to people talking, and could even squeeze a hand be really brain dead? He even choked on the tubes when he was I guess “coming too”. Thank you for your help, please respond whenever you get this. They’re telling us to think about dnr but I don’t think he’s really gone.
Can you tell me what the outcome was? My aunt is declared brain dead but she moves her pupils and even blinks on one eye.
DMX....
yea this actually helped me understand what brain dead is.
my dad had an accident with a gun and was in a coma for a few days before being pronounced brain dead and my mom said ok to "pulling the plug" I was so mad at her for like a whole year and I didn't know why she did just let him come back from it
Someone please explain this to the family of Jahi Mcmath.
They are in denial. According to what a friend told me, the last picture also showed her body decomposing.
😔 sorry to hear that
I am now breathing manually...thanks DNews!
This happened to my god brother he accidentally drowned thought he would make it I still had hope after the doctors said he was brain dead sadly they took him off life support just 3 days later.💔
Everything. I want to know everything about the brain.
But you are too scared
Who knows what you'll find lurking in the deep abyss of your mind.

everyone wants it including me. But it would be "wanted" for a long time because of the randomness and the vast of unnoticeable potential. Hope no one be mad about this. Just wanted to shared my thoughts.

Yup My Mom Was In A Coma...She Heard The Doctor Say " She Not Alive...Have To Pull The Plug"...She Said She Was Trying To Scream Dont Unplug!!!
I did not have a proper sleep for 4 months ...I feel I don't get sleep now there is pain at back of myhead
Thanks for the sad clarification
Been through this with my sister its so hard to go through.. I didn't want to be there when they turned the machines off.. They did try everything they could for 10 days unfortunately she was never going to be able to wake from the coma
Depends on how you define what constitutes a person and what constitutes living. If you define a person as simply being a body then yes, so long as the body lives the person is alive. However, if you define a person as the stream of consciousness within the mind of that body then no, a brain dead body can no longer sustain a stream of consciousness and therefore the person is dead regardless of if the body lives or not.
