    her blood sugar was so high (550) which caused something called hyperglycemic hyperosmolar nonketotic syndrome (HHNS).if untreated immediately it starts damaging everything in the body... and because she was misdiagnosed at first, it was too late... the brain was already damaged.

    My grandmother has been in a coma for four years now. She fell into cardiac arrest and when paramedics arrived, it was too late (if blood flow is disrupted to your brain for even minutes, it can cause severe drain damage). Over the course of years, she was passed around from hospital to hospital until she ended up having her life support set up at her house. My grandfather now takes care of her along with my uncle on occasion.
    P.S: This isn’t intended as likebait. I just wanted to comment my story for anyone interested or can relate to it.

    My mother just passed away over the holidays. She went into the hospital for a broken hip. When the checked her breathing it was very low due to cigarett smoking. They put her into a coma and hooked her up to a breathing machine. They could do nothing for her broken hip due to her inability to breath on her own. She was in the hospital a couple of weeks. They told me she was brain dead and wanted to turn the breathing machine off. I was not there due to the distance i lived away fom her but my aunt and cousin was with her when she passed. They tell me she was gasping for air and said it was normal. From what i understand in this video if she was brain dead she would not have been gasping. That is very disturbing to me..

    • @jdyrj777
      @jdyrj777 7 лет назад +54

      Thats what i believe too. How does a person go into the hospital with a broken hip and dead 2 weeks later? They said her oxygen level was low and put her ona ventilator. That i believe was true. Suddenly uncapable of breathing on her own? It was her 2nd time around with that. The hospital claimed they tested her and said there was no brain activity.

      The breathing could be due to part of the brain stem still kicking, but that would not allow a human being to be a human being. Brain stems keep the human life support going, such as allowing a 'vegetable' to breathe. The brain test used to determine brain death knows how to read the brain, knowing what parts function and what does not. As for going from broken hip to brain death, many things can cause it. People catch infections such as MRSA staph infections and pneumonia. Your mother could also have had something that did not immediately show itself until after hospitalization.

I feel that it's not fair to have them suffer emotionally, psychologically, and not to mention financially, especially if there is little to zero chance that I'll recover. I was reading one article looking at the maximum amount of time that auditory processing could take place after sudden cardiac arrest. 7-8 minutes. Pretty horrific. The ability to see, move or do anything is just a few seconds. This kind of makes sense because (Pertinent info I'm a paramedic) the number of unresponsive people who remember sirens is crazy. Anyway the scary thing is. Imagine you are terminally ill in hospital, you go into cardiac arrest and cannot be revived. You are probably going to hear people give up and declare you dead before that auditory processing shuts down.

    I knew a dog that was pronounced brain dead, then the vets left the room to tell the dogs foster. A couple minutes later they walked back in and the dog was lifting her head up and looking around. She was too small for the transplant she needed and I don't know if she survived. I met her an heard her story and wanted to tell the story of the little miracle pup.
    She was the sweetest little thing.

    My brother was in a coma for 3 years..but here's how he got into it. So ik no one will read this.
    My family and I went to a birthday party in some kind of woods. There were a lot playgrounds in the area, and my parents took us so we can play in them.I had 6 siblings, so it was hard strangling all of them in one park and looking after all of them. My brother, he was about 6 or 7 at the time.I was about 4? And we were playing, of coarse. We Don't know completely what caused him to get sick. If he was playing and touched his eyes, mouth, or nose.But after the party and we all went home, he starting throwing up. My mom thought he ate too much or ran around right after he ate, so she just thought to give him medicine and the next he would be fine. But he wasn't fine.Over about a week, he was constantly vomiting and just really sick. My mom took him to the doctor, and she said it can be a stomach flu, so she gave him medication. But the 2nd most worst day of my life happened. So my sisters and I were just playing around. And we heard him vomiting, as usual :( Then we hear my mom panicking, and screamjng for help. We walk into the room she was in and we saw his eyes rolled back to his head, him shaking really hard, and white stuff coming out his mouth. I was obvious it was a seizure, but I was 4 so I didnt know. My mom said call for my dad, and my dad came upstairs. He sae him and picked him up. He took him to the hospital. So my sisters, the oldest was about 10 to 12. She said something really bad happened.But she tried to call me down and say he's just sick, so I wouldn't worry. But later I start worrying, becaus my mom wasn't coming home and it was already 8 . So I went to sleep. But now that I'm ten, I understand everything that happened. My mom stayed overnight at the hospital with him, and my dad came home to stay with us. He was in the hospital for a couple days. But...he went into a coma. I was 4, so my mom said he was sleeping for a long time. I said " when is he coming home?"They said,in a couple of weeks. But it wasn't a couple of weeks. He was passed to e hospital in 3 years. One year in each hospital. But on June 21st, 2015, the absolute worst day of my life..at 7:00 pm...he died. My mom and dad were at the store, and the hospital called. They said he wasn't looking so well. They asked my parents to come imidiently, sorry for the spelling. So my parents, scared, rushed to the hospital. It was 45 minutes away, probably an hour with traffic. But it was too late. They tried to revive him...but he was already out. And he was...dead 😔The next morning, at this time I was 7 and in 2nd grade. My parents woke me up with the worst news ever. He sajd he was dead.I cry and cry.I didn't go to school because I was just miserable.And that's my story,I'm ten and talk to him everyday. Sometimes, he leaves messages. Once I saw one of his stuffed animals move.I wasmt frightened at all. I was glad. He heard me. 💖

I am alive now. God bless.

    We assumed we could slowly help him revive, even if it costs us years and years!
    But the doctor told us he was technically braindead and there was no hope. Then they pulled the plug and it was done!
    A week later I saw him pale and doll-like in a coffin.... Dead...

    I have performed countless brain death studies. Its a very specific protocol and considers all things from vital signs, medications involved, movements, and surrounding equipment. Often times family members are in disbelief and continue to keep their family member on life support for weeks and even months. In fairness they just need more time to process the loss but most people have zero trust in medicine. So they refuse to believe bad news.

They saw her hand moving so they put a pen in it and put paper underneath and she wrote about what was going on in the room at that time. Brain dead diagnosis is a LIE...It is a LIE to get parents to SIGN FORMS so doctors can MURDER the patient to harvest the ORGANS. I have witnessed this murderous act of these quacks of the AMA. Sad but true. BOTH TIMES I witnessed parents resisting the lies and the badgering of the doctors to sign the forms and both children recovered fully. They were told the child was brain dead, if the child lived it would be a vegetable and never walk, blah, blah, blah. THESE QUACKS who serve the sorcery of the pharma cartel should be charged with MURDER. They murder people with abortions, vaccines, poisons for medicines and organ harvesting. It is sickening to watch the sheep run to these quacks to take tests that are literal traps to lie that the people will need some toxic concoction of pharma for life. I have witnessed that these tests are a FRAUD and are used to deceive. YOU ARE A WHOLE BEING, not a bunch of parts. The only good in the AMA are emergency rooms, until they start the organ harvesting lie. People can fix their own body through detoxing the pharma poisons, and nourishing the body and the WHOLE BODY HEALS. Here is pharmaceutical cartel's hit list website of the real cures www.quackwatch.com Our gov has been infiltrated by the sorcery of the pharma cartel and they make laws to "outlaw" the cures, so doctors will push only pharma drugs. FIRE THE AMA quacks and take responsibility for your health. Don't be deceived by these devils in white coats. www.quackwatch.com YOU can use the cures, but doctors cannot cure or they may be killed or black listed. See how many AMA doctors are on the quackwatch.com page If you want to cure cancer, you will find that no matter what is wrong with the body, the body will heal as it is a whole being, not a bunch of parts. These are cancer cures, but the whole body is what heals the body, not the foods or cleansing. Cellular communications are divinely led by a supernatural light that sends and receives messages between every cell. IN HIM, you live and move and have your being. www.cancertutor.com This doctor rebelled against pharma and imagine what the truth will do to the cancer industry. By the way, toxins causes cancers and pharma pushes toxins for medicines, puts toxins in our food, land, air, water, vaccines, medicines and you wonder why babies are getting cancers today? www.cancerisafungus.com

    Are we just conscious thoughts? If your brain gets corrupted, say damaged, and delete your memory, will that person (human body) still be you? If I'm correct, we are no different than AI. Organic Intelligence. So, by the same token, we could transfer our thoughts to another entity, such as a robot, and live as AI. The issue is that the body and brain that nurtured those thoughts (the original you) will no longer be there to keep them growing or changing them. Your thoughts would be frozen in time.. forever..

      SuperMan It's all thought provoking however the answer is simply that everything is just a illusion. Technically, we are different people every Planck unit of time. If we were to teleport (dying then reincarnating at another location technically), we would be the same person, and although this seems different from just existing normally, it is actually physically the same. If our memories and cognitive abilities were transferred to a robot, it would think it were you, and by the definition of "you", it is. But at the same time it's not! So basically, what is consciousness? An illusion.

    • @reeflextv9805
      @reeflextv9805 6 лет назад

      SuperMan And yes without our conscious thoughts, we aren't us. Also the AI we'd be transferred to would most likely have the capabilities of a learning human brain (because it wouldn't really be US otherwise due to the difference in existence without the ability to change).

    What I find really amazing is when the doctors declare someone brain dead and they actually remove all life support but the person doesn't die so I guess there really wouldn't brain-dead where they and actually wake up what do you call that you didn't mention that state did you.

    The doctors have called my father brain dead, vegetative state, and coma due to lack of oxygen to the brain. Basically caused by a strangulation. He has has been on a breathing machine for 3 years now. When I go see him i talk to him and sometimes tears run down his face and he squeezes my hand with a few fingers... he feels pain and they say that he can hear me. I was just told today that there is a netting planned to consider giving him morphine and taking him off of the ventilator. I don’t know how I feel about it. I’ve been told it’s cruel to keep him in this condition which I understand that it isn’t a great life for him at this point but at the same time I believe that he is a fighter and I have seen very very slow progress. The fact that it hasn’t gotten worse and his brain isn’t dying out more and more means a lot to me.

    Question: How long can a "brain dead" person live, its body, that is? If the brain is dead, then does it actually start to disintegrate over time, like other dead body parts would (frostbite)?

    • @mikeh2006

      If i understand him correctly, roughly 1 week. As long as the brain stem is functioning that is.
      If not, death is immediate, with the immune system being the thing that lasts longest. 12 to 24 hours as far as i know. Someone might pick up my comment and go in to more accurate detail on it.

    If a person who is “brain dead” moves there arms, legs and even opens there eyes responds to people talking, and could even squeeze a hand be really brain dead? He even choked on the tubes when he was I guess “coming too”. Thank you for your help, please respond whenever you get this. They’re telling us to think about dnr but I don’t think he’s really gone.

    my dad had an accident with a gun and was in a coma for a few days before being pronounced brain dead and my mom said ok to "pulling the plug" I was so mad at her for like a whole year and I didn't know why she did just let him come back from it

    One of my bros just died on July 4th, he was at a household firework party and there were too many fireworks together causing a huge explosion and the fireworks started shooting everywhere. My friend aswell as 6 others were forced to take cover and jump into a pond, unfortunately my friend jumped in an landed on a huge rock knocking him unconscious and making him fall into a comma. The doctors said he was brain dead 5 hours later and pulled the cord 😭

    My husband had a brain stroke ( pontine hemorrhage) that's what doc said. Till the 4 th day he was showing some signs of movement and on the 5 th day during the MRI also doctor gave me positive sign that it is getting better now, and suddenly after shifting him back to ICU after 15 mins they told me brain dead. Still cannot accept it. Don't understand what went wrong. Was it something frm the doctors side.

    Depends on how you define what constitutes a person and what constitutes living. If you define a person as simply being a body then yes, so long as the body lives the person is alive. However, if you define a person as the stream of consciousness within the mind of that body then no, a brain dead body can no longer sustain a stream of consciousness and therefore the person is dead regardless of if the body lives or not.
