Thank you very much for your words and your silence ♥️

I so agree with you about working in silence! I think some folks are afraid to be alone with their thoughts. There are times when I enjoy music or a book or podcast, but other time when the quiet is the best place for creating.
Those who always have to have something on in the background should give it a try some time. Who knows, it might bring unexpected peace and tranquility.
Well it is scary to face yourself, your fears and doubts. I also think our society isn't quite into quiet time. Everything has to be buzzing and we're crushed with images and sounds all the time, so most of us have lost the ability of just being.
But yes, I agree, anyone should give it a go for at least a day, just to try!
Thank You so-much for making this video, in just the way You did; for sharing ALL that You have, Stephanie!
I too enjoy how the Mind flows and weaves beautiful-tapestries - when Creating in-silence!
You are certainly a Kindred-Spirit, based-on the thoughts, method and philosophy of this video… and it warms My Heart to know that You are HERE/NOW; too!
Best-Wishes to You, Sweetheart!
I feel like I've just listened to one of the most fascinating audiobooks.
haha, probably not, but thanks!
LoveLoveLoveLoveLove
This is so beautiful, so relaxing, and absolutely fascinating! I LOVE history and old things…. How AWESOME that you got your hands on beautiful old books!! I, personally, would LOVE a video on the books themselves as well…… History is such a fascinating place, and you’re worlds are colliding when you’re holding those books that people held in the 17-1800’s…. So cool, and such an awesome concept with your art as well!!!!! LOVE THIS!
It's quite crazy, I don't think I ever hold something human-made that old in my bare hands. Usually old human made objects are in museum XD
Glad you love it so much! Will have to think about the old books video!
@@stephanie.kilgast i think it would be wonderful...
Morning ,Sending you Blue Skies (good health and happiness) from Northern Ontario Canada You are so very talented..Thank you for sharing all you beautiful hard work..Much success always..🙏
thank you so much! sending afternoon cloudy and blue skies back!
Thank you Stephanie
Very thought provoking Stephanie. :)
just discovered your channel and the pace of your beautiful thoughts is so soothing and wonderfully hopeful. be well and lots of light from Poland. W
thank you! glad you felt that way :)
I came to see how you made the mushrooms, but was struck by your thoughts and really thought about what you said. Thank you!
Glad your liked the set and the thoughts!
Wow , I felt the exact same as your friend, I lost my dad first to cancer , he was only 69 , then 3 years later my mum passed with cancer too 😢 I felt so lost , I had 5 daughters and husband and home , yet all the while when my parents were with me I still felt like a youngun myself, but as soon as they left me , it was the first time in my life I felt like a grown up and my decision making took me longer because I was the grown up now , I suffered a very bad nervous breakdown a year after my mums passing , and I am still recovering 3 years later, when I was previously such a strong person ,thank you for sharing this with us , I don’t feel so alone now ❤️❤️❤️
I'm sure many others feel the same way, so you're certainly not alone!
Mourning takes time especially for people that are as close as parents.
Many hugs, you'll be alright in the end.
I agree with every point you made. We are often too caught up in quantity instead of quality.
Thank you so much ❤️ could you maybe make an actual tutorial for the books and mushrooms? And maybe also what material you are using? ❤️
So delicate. I always love your work.
What a treat of a video. Thank you so much for sharing! Your sculpture is coming along beautifully.
thank you!
Such amazing Content ♥ Your thoughts are beautiful. Thank you for sharing them ♥
glad you enjoyed them ^^
ps Your sculpture is Lovely!!!
Your sculptures are so beautiful! The little mushrooms are perfect for the antique books. What treasures.
thank you so much Natasha :)
Vraiment beau bravo
merci beaucoup!
I love doing almost anything in silence. Sometimes I like music when I'm doing any type of art but mostly I work in silence. I feel like more of myself will go into whatever I'm doing if I let my thoughts kinda guide me. I'm so excited about your solo show. I've commented before about my love for books. The written word has saved my life to many times to count. Your work speaks me on so many levels and your commentary always makes me smile. Thank you again for sharing so much of yourself with me.
Dear Stephanie, such a treat to hear your thoughts and see your work, and your beautiful books. And yes, it's utterly appropriate to make these jewel-like books into sculpture. I guess consuming books changes us, adds to our knowledge, re-calibrates us emotionally; and art can do exactly the same. And you are so very right about working in silence. You have really given me pause for thought, I ALWAYS work with an audiobook or the radio on. If I work in silence the thoughts and stories in my head become deafening, and actively distracting. Perhaps it would be beneficial to allow myself to be distracted by them instead of pushing them away as I draw to another deadline. It's certainly an interesting new thought, and I thank you for that. And what a treat to see you at work; the format of working and musing is extremely satisfying. Thankyou. Love the fact that you have your mushroom ref out to one side of the books. Where oh where would we be wiithout our reference materials? You do know that the town I live in, Hay-on-Wye, is the second hand book capital of the world, right? Anytime you fancy a visit you'd be more than welcome to come and stay. And spend a fortune on books. I wonder, will the sculptures in the books change the way they smell? I do love the smells of old old books. Thanks again, really enjoyed the film. xLizzie
Lizzie, thank you! sorry for the late reply, I did ignore my channel for a month to focus on other things (also just on myself XD)
Working in silence can get very distracting indeed, but it's also just a getting used to :)
Your town of yours sounds like heaven! Maybe one day :)
No the sculptures don't change the smell. My materials are odorless once the sculpture is done.
Your video was wonderful and very calming. Also very thought provoking! I'd love to know how you make those beautiful mushrooms 🍄 if you would share, please 😊 Thank you so much!
This was a great way to get my day started! It also helped me realize how much tension I have been holding.
Ah well, we all hold onto tension, but it's good to realize it and try to actively relieve yourself from it!
non ?
en tout cas bravo sublime création
très agréable vidéo

quel boulot
merci merci pour ces partages
merci beaucoup :)
Thank you for sharing. I’d love to see a video on the old books in detail! This video is my favorite yet… I love old books and mushrooms… I’m in heaven. So beautiful….
thank you! mushrooms and old book is a good combination :)
Excellent video and commentary. I would definitely be interested in another video of you just going through the old books that were given to you. My sister, and myself more recently, has been collecting old books as a hobby. So much information from another period of history that you really don't come across these days. I find old books so fascinating! I recently acquired a book from the late 19th century on the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876. I bought it to originally use for making some paper props, but I haven't touched it yet as I'm not sure if I want to really destroy it for my own project. If I get a few more books, maybe I will, but I'd recommend hanging onto those really old books from the 18th century. As you said, they have so much character and history.
And of course, your sculpture is just stunning. Appreciated your thoughts as an artist and the importance of giving our work, or other's work, our full attention. Thanks for sharing! :)
Yes, keep that book! Better have a few first so you can "sacrifice" one or two for something else.
I will see about the flipping books video, maybe next week!
@@stephanie.kilgast I think I will keep it! Good idea to have a few extra to "sacrifice" before ruining the only copy you own. Looking forward to the flipping books video if you decide to do it!
Très beau comme toujours, joli chemin de pensée également. Merci pour la vidéo!
Your skills are mind blowing. It took me some time to understand the creation you created but it was worth watching. ✨
Such a beautiful video - an artwork in itself.
thank you!
What a beautifully presented video. Your art is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see the drawings in the old books. Wondering if even you could make them downloadable? I love making vintage albums for myself. Either way, I just love the context of this video, all so very true.
Thank you! I still need to do a flip through of these and film it. I tend to get wrapped up it too many projects and ideas!
You are Awesome
:D
That’s a really cool project. Made me calm inside while watching. Thank you for sharing your work. :)
glad you felt that way!
So beautiful. I love how you have handled these books and carefully chosen those which will become a different form of art in your hands. I would love to hear more on any topic you would like to share more on. The concept of slow living and slowing down is very interesting to me. I also love the idea of perfection in imperfection or the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. Do you have any thoughts on this?
those are all interesting indeed! I will write them down to discuss more in depth in future videos :)
Your work is so amazing, could I ask what you use for the mushroom stalks? And what paint you use, many thanks
Wire with cold porcelain for the stems. I use acrylic paint.
impatiente !
Please tell me what kind of sculpting clay (blue/white in a jar) are you using to make these mushroom caps?
Can you pls let me know about the clay that you are using. Is it air dry clay or polymer clay?
Hello Stephanie, what is the brand of the silicone you use to make molds ?
gedeo from pebeo, but I live in France, and that's the only one I find in art supplies store locally. I'm sure whatever your art shop has is good.
@@stephanie.kilgast thank you so much for answering.
Unfortunatelly the art shops around here don't have it. I'll look that one up online. Thanks again :)
🍍🍕
I see we've got some variations!
@@stephanie.kilgast I was going for the pineapple on pizza controversy.
@@greensun5998 I figured! It's a bold statement XD

I would love to make something like this!!! Your work is so lovely!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
