An impressive piece and a valuable part of the wind quintet repertoire.
As a pianist, Mme. Farrenc studied with a pupil of Muzio Clementi; as a composer, her main teacher was Anton Reicha; so her classical lineage is very strong. She was also the only woman professor (piano) of the Paris Conservatoire in the 19th century.

I'm so glad LouiseFerenc (1804-1875) is finally being heard ! Charming music that has depth .I'm looking at her piano writing and she seems not to at this date learned anything from Chopin or Schumann closer to Mendellsohn (who had great imagination but did not invent new hand formations like Schumann and Chopin or Liszt . Her piano etudes also on youtube show more of Chopin's influence . Burgmuller,Hummel was one of her teachers. Moscheles also (his piano works and 2 pf . concerto are very praiseworthy !

reminds me of the texture of Mozart's Rondo for Glass Harmonica K617... in the same key as well...

Very Mozart, but fun to play, I'm sure.
