Hi. I'd like to share some information to expand on this a little. I'll start by saying I wear glasses, I have a psvr2, and that my wife is a dispensing optician with her own business so I have quite a few pairs of glasses in varying shapes and styles and so I am in the lucky position of having been able to experiment with this. There are a few separate variables that will affect the answer to whether or not you can wear your glasses with the psvr2. 1. If you have large lenses like the ones kireth has in this video, the frames are not going to limit your peripheral vision. You have if you have smaller designer lenses with a much narrower vertical profile, the tops and bottom of the frame will impede your vertical field of vision. Exactly how much will depend on the thickness and shape of your frames. 2. Your prescription. My right eye has a far stronger prescription than my left eye. My left eye has perfectly clear vision pretty much to the edge of the field of view both vertically and horizontally. My right eye with the stronger prescription and the thicker lens has considerable chromatic distortion to the right side of my field of view and to the upper verticle field of view. This varies with larger and smaller lenses but it is there and you can't do anything about it. You may suffer this you may not, it is 100% dependant upon your prescription. As I say I get it in my right eye not my left. The stronger your prescription in each lens the more likely you are to suffer from this. 3. Lens profile. Flat lenses work ok (with the above caveats) wrap around style lenses don't and cause a lot of chromatic distortion around the edges of the field of view. Again your prescription will affect this, but both the wrap-around lenses I tried have it. 4. Vari-focal and bi-focal lenses. Don't do it... The reading portion of your lenses, therefore basically the lower third of your field of view will be out of focus. I'll be honest I don't really understand the mechanics, is the screen your eye is focusing on is very close to your eye. But the distance section of your lens will be in focus and the reading (close vision) section of your lens will be out of focus. Psvr2, and I assume all vr headsets (I have never tried any others) require single prescription distance lenses only. If you wear glasses reading ONLY, from my limited testing with one other person, you probably won't need to wear glasses in the psvr2. There is of course the issue of scratching which was covered in this video so I don't need to go over that. 5. Contact lenses. Ok, I'm in the luxury position of not only having a selection of glasses, but also a tame optician to put contact lenses in for me everytime I want to play with the psvr2. If you need glasses and can get contact lenses in your prescription, do this. My personal experience is that contact lenses improve my experience 100 fold. But I also understand that this isn't possible for everybody, but if you can this is the best solution. So the general answer is you 'can' wear glasses, but your mileage will vary from person to person and if you are lucky, it won't affect your experience in a negative way, but it might... So if you do wear spectacles the best advice that I can give, is please find a way to try a headset somewhere before you buy. I hope that helps some people out there
I wear a beanie while using this to help protect my head and it helps keep a bit more space between my face and the headset so it stays a bit further away from my glasses as well
I just ordered some VR Optician prescription lenses for the PSVR 2 to remove the need to wear glasses whilst wearing the headset and should also help protect the PSVR 2 lenses.
watching you has absolutely convinced me to not get a PS VR2 I knew it would be a headache and a hassle. Do they have a lens insert system that you can apply to the headset most do I guess I'll do a RUclips search on that. because if it's a hassle I'm not interested I have 120 inch projector that I'm using now and I don't like the lag. The VR headset is the only thing I could think of that would come close to that but I'm just not interested in happened to a little bit left a little bit right a little bit up a little bit down a little bit left a little bit right every time I have to put the headset on.
I wonder if it depends on what you have wrong with your eyes. I'm short sighted and don't wear glasses with the headset and image quality is fine. But a friend who's long sighted said he can't use it without them.
Wait so you can’t see things in the distance? I’m short sighted too. Things far are blurry. Can I play games comfortably without glasses? Will the screen/image on the headset be clear or blurry?
@@Micronisus Although the screens are close to your eyes, the lenses adjust the focal distance of VR headsets to around 4 to 6 feet away so if your vision isn't perfect at this distance then you will need to wear glasses/contacts or insert prescription lenses to have perfect vision in VR.
If you wear glasses, I suggest you get some HONSVR plano or perscription lens covers before putting the headset on. Even if you don't wear glasses still get some plano lenses so you can share your headset with others who do. This headset has no hard stop on how far you can move the visor in. Couple with this the PSVR2's small sweet spot and you'll be constantly readjusting it during games. This is what happened to me during Pistol Whip. My lenses are now scratched. I spoke with Sony about this and their response is that this is classed as physical abuse, they advised me that my warranty is now null and void. Don't make the same mistake as me :(
damn that’s good to know i wear contacts and glasses but when i’m home chillen i’ll throw my glasses on even if the contacts are more comfortable but imma just pop them in when i play from now on
My glasses has scratched mine, my right lens, but didn't with the PSVR1, I noticed that on the PSVR2 the lenses stick out more, the plastic molding they sit in stick out more so if you have the PSVR 2 Scope close to your face, the lenses touch your glass frame and then rubs against it and scratches the lens over time, in the manual it just says take take care wearing glasses, it needs to be a warning if to close they could damage the lenses, you should not need to buy something to protect them, it should be included already, it costs £549 so it should be part of it, it needs a guard in the middle where your nose is so it pushes the glasses back and stops the scope/lens hitting them or it stops the scope before hitting the frames, problem is no company tests things in the wild properly and only in lab conditions, look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold phone and how wrong they got that, my son has had 3 of them, because there screens break, this could of not just happened to me only.
I bought the PSVR2 on sale last week and I'm already in here from my brother's glasses....pain....lmao there better be a free repair under warranty from Sony

Things at a distance are blurry for me also and I’ve been using PSVR 2 comfortably without glasses since I discovered slight scratches on the lenses. It’s not as sharp and clear as it would be with your glasses on of course, but you can bring the display closer to your eyes and increase your field of view.
The glasses are quite problematic. You get a lot of glare from the “screen” on your lenses. It creates a blur by making it a bit hazy because of the glare. I ordered some vr lenses and we’ll see if they help
I’m noticing an increase in this type of content. Yes, the headset lenses can become damaged but it is avoidable. Anyone that wears spectacles should not be discouraged from investing in the PSVR 2 or other VR platforms
There's the lense glasses you can clip on but they require to use more money. For me, comfort is impoetant, and i hated all the precautions i was taking when using the qiest 2. It depends. Based on your description of your eyesight, you may not have to wear your glasses. The lenses in VR headsets, simulate a further distance from you in order to provide depth. Even though the screens are inches away from your eyes, it doesn't appear that way.
