MikefromQueens seeing as it's much much cheaper to go fast enough to be dangerous on bikes id assume the drivers who are driving fast cars are more prepared for it. Also that fact that cars cant high/low said and let you slide off the edge if you hit a bump mid turn
I have to admit I did not like these "One Take" format videos before but now I am an avid fan. It was really great to see your fanbase letting you into their daily rides and you break that up with the Viper and this ContiGT. Great Content! Thanks for waking yourself up at the crack of dawn to get great footage!
Yet another great review Matt..thanks...I enjoy the fact you are taking cars from all aspects from the big boys like the Bentley down to the Fiestas....Canyon running is where its at.
I won't be watching the review on Drive.. fuck drive. Matt take a note from Chris Harris.. I sponsor Chris and TFL Car on Patreon.. Chris is up to $4,000 per month now and TFL is approaching $1,000.. that's the right model, not this pay for content bullshit with 1 shitty video a month and 3 hours of spinelli.. but nevermind that.. Love these vids, keep up the great work sir.
TheSmokingTire I listened to you talk about it on a podcast a few months ago, have you put out any new content discussing how that model is going and what you guys are up to? It's really tough on drive to be one of the first out of the gates in that regard. I think the reason people aren't behind the pay for youtube model is the fear (justified or otherwise) that suddenly lots of your favorite channels will start charging and then it's not $1 a month or whatever, but 5-10.
Pas De MD as an employee, not an owner, it's not my responsibility nor my right to put out content that's directly dicsussing internal business stuff over there, but since changing the model to the 30 minute weekly format and stopping with the long video pay / short video free model, subscribers are going up, revenue is going up, and those who subscribe are really enjoying the content. We're doing some of the best work we've ever done, and with the 30 minute format, we have a product that truly has no competitor in the space, offering a product that is actually better than what competitors are giving away for free. Plus, without it, we wouldn't be able to make The Smoking Tire either. Drive and TST both need each other to exist.
I think this is the best bentley now. And this conti have proper sound now, i saw one and its pretty loud. By the way great shoots, and those clouds look awesome.
Another neat thing about such expensive cars are acoustics. Notice how crisp and clear Matt sounds. Could be different mic settings, but i bet it's the acoustics.
It would have been much more at home on Kanan or Malibu canyon. But even then, i would not want to be in this car during a highspeed understeer moment...Fcckkkkkk thattttt.
i'm somewhat surprised how much you praised this car in this environment ... i figured it would be laughable (granted you WERE laughing quite a bit!) but sounds like it was rather satisfying. loving these videos man. good stuff! if i were even remotely close to you, i'd love to get my f80 m3 its ~10 minutes of fame on your channel. keep it up!
+Matthew S the word on those cars is in glorious in the dry snappy and unpredictable in the wet quite sketchy at speed and the damping falls apart at speed too also electric steering has nearly 0 feel the proper M car died with the e90 M3 RIP glorious driving machines............ this new age of "efficiency" pisses me off who gives a fuck about mpg in a fucking M car? ppl who buy it and never drive it above 5 or 6 tenths?
+Adolf Hitler driving experience trumps fuel efficiency, agreed. I think most people agree the f80 is better/faster, but has lost some emotion, and for some, the M is no longer their car, but in its class it's my favorite. It's fun ripping it around on the track and when I'm puttering around town the fuel efficiency IS nice. stopping for gas is annoying. the extra torque in the f80 is also a lot of fun and I prefer it to the e90 overall, but the e90 was still quite nice.
mattybumpo68 c63 shits on both gens of m3 for fun around town if you want efficiency drive a prius the e90 and c63 are both investments at this point wheras the newest f80's are just the "new M cars" my sources are EVO Magazine (who are about the joy of driving above all else, including fuel efficiency) ill stick with my 2000 540i sportwagon on 18 inch M performance wheels im gonna SC my wagon so 540hp and 484lb-ft in 1750kg loaded 13k investment overall and nearly the same hp and tq ad the new m5 and it's a wagon i love bmw but they lost their way on the new car also nothing beats a v8 screaming over 8000rpm
The noise of the v8 was better. And c63 is great but I didn't see enough track support, more people us the m3 so there is more feedback as far as what brakes, wheels, tires work best. I also prefer the f80 styling but the c63 is growing on me. The c63, atsv and m3 are all awesome. E90 is definitely NOT an investment. And I did want something new which is another reason I went f80. The regulations on the auto industry is, to my understanding, why cars are moving towards efficiency. It's still a blast to drive too and I had an e46 m3 which I loved. The f80 is better overall (I need back seats) despite the fun I had in the e46. I looked for a used e90 but too many people abuse the cars and aren't enthusiasts... more reasons to go new. old school is very cool but new has its benefits. Best is having all of them! 540i wagon is a great choice! That will be a blast with a s/c. Enjoy it!
TheSmokingTire Matt there is a dark colored '15 STi in the back ground in the beginning of the video. Any chance that one will make the cut? Very interested to see it. Loved this vid btw. The v8 sounds amazing!!
You know you are watching too many youtube videos, too often...when someone says 521 horsepower and you dont flinch at all, and are almost unimpressed. If someone takes you to lunch in a 500+ horsepower car in real life....well then!
Are there any good resources for learning more about the culture around mulholland drive / california canyon driving? Seems really interesting, but not easy to find good info other than car reviews and such.
TheSmokingTire You have interns over at TST, no? Why not give them a couple of cameras and let them shoot a little film about the whole Mulholland thing? I bet there are many interesting aspects.
i know this might sound funny , but will you do any reviews on some v8 suvs or crossovers by anychance? , like the new durangos , bmw, mercredes in the v8 category though. just wondering...
Flavio Gomes they are traditionally less popular than enthusiast cars from a video standpoint, (and also less fun to make), but the new Durango R/T is bad ass.
Also it's a GT Car GT! Not sports cars. They are capable of high speeds but that's not what they're meant for. They're touring cars which means you're meant sit back and relax and just enjoy driving on a long journey. The speeds are more meant for a highway like the autostrada and the autobahn
Haroon Parvez we tried, but lost a gopro in the process. It was a nice little car; very similar to our SI except with a bit more grunt and a stiffer suspension. Very darty steering.
Matt, on average what does this channel make per month ? Im guessing 6K per month since you've started doing these one- takes. Good job dude. Hopefully in the future you can fund more project cars.
Yep - way too heavy. You can tell that it's not much fun around this road. Understeer, tyres squealing even though he had it in sports suspension. Meant for a motorway, not a canyon road.
TheSmokingTire what are the future plans for TST content? I enjoy these videos but it seems like a long time since you've done content other than these owner test rides. As a purchaser and enjoyer of All Cars Go To Heaven, I'd love to see a Vol. 2 in the works, or at least a new creative format on this channel.
I FINALLY got a chance to drive these roads this week, and if I could tolerate living in LA these roads would be enough to woo me here. Too bad I got stuck driving these roads in a Mazda 5 rental :-(. Oh well, I shall return this summer, an this time bringing my Mk6 2-door GTI
Please review that e36 bimmer in the background asap! I've been looking at them for some good time now (might buy one, possibly 325is) and I'd love to see a real driver's perspective on the driving dynamics instead of someone reading off the spec sheet
PureSlaughterpc yeah I don't know that guy. He was just there. We have a euro-spec E36 M3 on the calendar; that's really the only one I'm interested in.
I can't wait for Matt to bin a car on one of these "one takes". I know he's probably a pretty standard driver amongst motoring jouno's (which means he's better than most regular enthusiast drivers but nowhere near as good as a pro driver). I just hope he survives and uploads the footage. Props from Oz TST..
I had my first crash in a subject car, my first incident of any kind since 2003, in New Zealand, It was on a race track (I've crashed twice in my life, both on tracks, both in the rain), in fucking horrific conditions. I really shouldn't have been in the car at all they were so bad. I am going to share the video, even though I only have the crash from one angle. It wasn't that bad of a shunt, but it can happen to anyone. I apologized for half an hour, wrote the man a check, and immediately got in another car to test, because we had to do it that day. Rarely, but sometimes, this job sucks.
TheSmokingTire Damn sucky job hahaha!! Both times I've binned a car it was my own and they were both written off. Once a Holden SS Commodore into a rocky outcrop once a WRX backwards through a safety rail into a river in the wet. Neither times were recorded. Good luck mate.
boofighter the protocol for doing my job is that I have to be prepared to write a check at any time if something goes wrong and it's my fault. If it's a mechanical failure that has nothing to do with me, the owner/company takes care of it.
That's the exact car i would buy, if i won alot money or idk got job or something like that which would make me able to spend the kind of money that this car costs:O it is really one of my absolute favorite cars of all time:D
Hey I recently came across an opportunity to pick up a 1996 ford mustang cobra convertible that has a the first cobra 4.6liter compared to previous gen 5.0 and it has a vortec supercharger stage II kit and has original 14,000 miles and was wondering if the car has any good long term value. I'd appreciate your guys's thoughts. Thanks again Sean
as a low mileage example, it will probably retain value on that alone, somewhat. But unless it's a Mystic, it would take a very long time for that car to actually appreciate in value.
It's a good looking car but they've been doing it since 2003 if I'm not mistaking, even though this is the facelifted version, I mean the basic body shape. And again it has that douche vibe, like look at me and my Bentley, who cares it's a 2006 with 200,000 miles, it still looks the same. I wonder what they do with the new Continental GT in 2017. Other brands can skip two generations in this period of time! The way it sounds inside the cabin reminded me of AMG's with a M157 engine, good job there.
Matt love the videos and commentary btw !!! I have a 2015 Mercedes Benz designo cashmere Matt white E63 Biturbo type S that is modified to to over 730hp and 850ft/tq. If interested in test driving let me know. Thanks Sean
You've got some balls driving that Bentley quickly on a road that narrow and twisty. I salute you!
Keep doing what you're doing Matt! We love it, cheers from Canada!
P.s. - If you're ever in Ontario, Canada, you'd be more than welcome to come visit!
How often do people drive off those cliffs?
Smackindaface in cars? Once a month or so. People go off on bikes 10-15 per week.
I would think more cars go off. I guess the spandex on the road bikers makes em slip off their seats.
MikefromQueens motorcycles. not bicycles.
MikefromQueens seeing as it's much much cheaper to go fast enough to be dangerous on bikes id assume the drivers who are driving fast cars are more prepared for it. Also that fact that cars cant high/low said and let you slide off the edge if you hit a bump mid turn
ormand3000 probably a lot
One take with a Semi Truck. DO IT!
YES!
I have to admit I did not like these "One Take" format videos before but now I am an avid fan. It was really great to see your fanbase letting you into their daily rides and you break that up with the Viper and this ContiGT. Great Content! Thanks for waking yourself up at the crack of dawn to get great footage!
Props to you my man. I don't know how can you keep a conversation with the viewers while focusing on these chaotic small ass roads.
Wow that view at 1:51 over the canyon
Jariuana Great catch
Please continue early morning Snake runs. I love seeing the fog at the base of the canyons. Just gorgeous. I'd love to visit the Snake one day.
Yet another great review Matt..thanks...I enjoy the fact you are taking cars from all aspects from the big boys like the Bentley down to the Fiestas....Canyon running is where its at.
Daamn that E36 in the beginning of the video!! Did you review it? When u gonna upload it?
excellent- first review i've seen w some serious driving. looks like video game.
good adrenaline rush. thanks
One of these in yellow looks fantastic
I'm sure Kim K. and Paris Hilton will be thrilled to know how competently the Bentley handles the snake.
The surroundings look so pretty that early in the morning! Great One Take!
This vid though, never saw a Bentley hustled like that!! Good work, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I won't be watching the review on Drive.. fuck drive.

Sigrafix i mean, that's a pretty strong mis-diagnosis of what's happening at /DRIVE, but sure, whatever you think man.
TheSmokingTire I listened to you talk about it on a podcast a few months ago, have you put out any new content discussing how that model is going and what you guys are up to?

:-)

Did some poop creep out at 3:37. That understeer was not making the car go to a good place. TheSmokingTire
Another neat thing about such expensive cars are acoustics. Notice how crisp and clear Matt sounds. Could be different mic settings, but i bet it's the acoustics.
It's hard for me to watch a Chevy ad but i'll do it for you TheSmokingTire!
Aha!!!! I spy my little e36 chillin up there! Sure was fun chasing you in that Impreza with the STi! Keep up the good work.
wow this car is so heavy thats insane never would have thought 5k lbs !!!! go damn !
It's kinda pointless to drive a Bentley thay way especially in a canyon but it's also really cool to watch. Good job as always TheSmokingTire
snoopnorris Especially on the downhill.
It would have been much more at home on Kanan or Malibu canyon. But even then, i would not want to be in this car during a highspeed understeer moment...Fcckkkkkk thattttt.
Actually i retract that last portion. Going off a cliff in a Bentley would be much more enjoyable then in some p.o.s lmao.
Audi RS models have sports exhaust as option and sounds even better.
Audis Quiet?! The RS7 sounds like a monster. I would of expected the Bentley to be quieter, sans the perf. exhaust.
One of these vs the DB11 V8 review would be interesting
i'm somewhat surprised how much you praised this car in this environment ... i figured it would be laughable (granted you WERE laughing quite a bit!) but sounds like it was rather satisfying.

if you want efficiency drive a prius
the e90 and c63 are both investments at this point
wheras the newest f80's are just the "new M cars"
my sources are EVO Magazine (who are about the joy of driving above all else, including fuel efficiency)
ill stick with my 2000 540i sportwagon on 18 inch M performance wheels
im gonna SC my wagon so 540hp and 484lb-ft in 1750kg loaded
13k investment overall and nearly the same hp and tq ad the new m5
and it's a wagon
i love bmw but they lost their way on the new car

Christopher Garcia no, those other guys just happened to be there.
TheSmokingTire
too bad, would love to see you test a 2015 sti, especially with a decent tune
Thats my evo and my friends bmw/sti. Let me know if youd want to drive it. Ill put you in touch.
You know you are watching too many youtube videos, too often...when someone says 521 horsepower and you dont flinch at all, and are almost unimpressed. If someone takes you to lunch in a 500+ horsepower car in real life....well then!
what road is this? is this off mulholland? I've been up there countless times and have never seen this road? anyone know the name?
Love the vids keep it up Matt!
"This has that BRUTUTUUUTTUUTTUTUUTUTUTUTUUTUTUT..."
"I feel so important in this" - ha!
Is it just me or did Matt look like he was going to lose it @ 3:40?
it's not just you,i was the same when i saw
Can you do a one take with your corvette?
Driving like that in the mountains is insane. Can't imagine that road at night, not one street light, lol
I missed the patented Matt Farah giggle! I'm glad to see this car get it!
Damn.. when were you up there with a Viper? Where can I see that video? :)

TheSmokingTire Thnks.. I really appreciate that.
Are there any good resources for learning more about the culture around mulholland drive / california canyon driving? Seems really interesting, but not easy to find good info other than car reviews and such.
Pas De MD best way is to just show up and experience it for yourself!
RUclipsr Rnickeymouse has tons of mullholland videos.
TheSmokingTire Some day, man. Related, my California 1 vacation was ruined by it falling into the ocean and being closed for several months.
TheSmokingTire You have interns over at TST, no? Why not give them a couple of cameras and let them shoot a little film about the whole Mulholland thing? I bet there are many interesting aspects.
This road looks amazing. California seems like it has some of the best roads, sadly east coast not so much.
i know this might sound funny , but will you do any reviews on some v8 suvs or crossovers by anychance? , like the new durangos , bmw, mercredes in the v8 category though. just wondering...
Flavio Gomes they are traditionally less popular than enthusiast cars from a video standpoint, (and also less fun to make), but the new Durango R/T is bad ass.
3:35 was a bit scary! I'd have been a little startled there.
Video quality seems alot better! New cameras?
just good morning light.
Good job on the videos guys, don't let the drive+ haters get too ya!
Also it's a GT Car GT! Not sports cars. They are capable of high speeds but that's not what they're meant for. They're touring cars which means you're meant sit back and relax and just enjoy driving on a long journey. The speeds are more meant for a highway like the autostrada and the autobahn
Hi. Will you be reviewing an ep3. I saw it in one of the videos in the background
Haroon Parvez we tried, but lost a gopro in the process. It was a nice little car; very similar to our SI except with a bit more grunt and a stiffer suspension. Very darty steering.
Does is finally have a USB port?
Matt what do you think of the B8 Audi S4?????
Is this the same car Top Gear took rallying?
I cant remember exactly which Bentley it was, there are a few that are easy to confuse.
TheSmokingTire Dude, what time were you out there? It was beautiful with the low clouds and the light.
Did you watch the video or....? Within the first minute he says its 6:30...
Ha, Yea I forwarded through the first few minutes before he started driving because I had seen the episode about the car already.
Do Bentley's make sense now that you can get v12 s65 coupes for the same price as the v8s?
You feel like Captain Nemo because it's the same size and weight as the Nautilus :P
dat torque.
top work........love this
thanks for the video
Is it squirly in the corners, or does it stay pretty planted? Heard the tires squeal but it looked like you weren't having any trouble.
Alex Jacobson it's really planted.
How does the handling compare to the Challenger Hellcat? It looked to me that the Bentley was understeering quite a bit.
in terms of their limits, about the same. The bentley feels more planted at high speed though, and has better steering feel than the chally.
When you put the camera near the muffler/tail pipe is the best part
Matt, on average what does this channel make per month ? Im guessing 6K per month since you've started doing these one- takes.
Good job dude. Hopefully in the future you can fund more project cars.
***** Fair point. I was unaware there were 4 people part of TST. So yes.
Matt what windscreen mount do you use for your GoPro?
muckinfuncky matthews 6" suction cup with 3-axis arm.
If you had to choose, Bentley GT V8 S or an Aston Martin Vanquish?
Aston Martin Vanquish all the way.
Vanquish.
Bentley
the video looks alot smoother in this video for some reason
Does it have 3000K headlights, or is the white balance just a bit wonky on my screen?
Wait what is the red line ? I thought I heard 200rpm but that for sure isnt right. I'm just curious ...
5040lbs? Do they put fucking cinder blocks in the trunk?
I know you're probably not actually asking, but aside from the frame, sound deadening and copious leather + other luxury items add up in weight.
almost 1000Ibs worth of interior fuckery.
Four-wheel drive also adds weight.
To put it into perspective a 2013 Lincoln MKT weights around 4700-4800 lbs. That is loaded and seats 7. C7 Corvette approx 3200lbs. Big difference.
Yep - way too heavy. You can tell that it's not much fun around this road. Understeer, tyres squealing even though he had it in sports suspension.
Meant for a motorway, not a canyon road.
I love the noise, I wish they release a new V8.
the v8 is faster but dose it have a louder and more aggressive sound? i guess the w12 does?
Would love to see a video on the shelby 1000
***** we asked they won't let us drive one.
Is this the first video at 60fps? Looks more real.
Anton Maes nope, same settings as always just good morning light
TheSmokingTire
Yeah the gopro definitely benefits from good light, I've got the crappy skiing videos to prove it.
60fps videos will say 1080p60 or 720p60 for the quality settings
Where is this???
Matt you should take the Fiesta ST on some of the roads sometime!
here ya go ruclips.net/video/95B1J0Ugb64/видео.html
Wayne Rooney approves.
We have our series of "pretty films" from New Zealand coming out in the next few weeks, and we are filming ACGTH 2 in may.
Damn I really love this car
I FINALLY got a chance to drive these roads this week, and if I could tolerate living in LA these roads would be enough to woo me here. Too bad I got stuck driving these roads in a Mazda 5 rental :-(.
Oh well, I shall return this summer, an this time bringing my Mk6 2-door GTI
in the market for one of those.....the way this hangs on on the bends is crazyyy....thought it'd be a boat !! But it isnt !
Would you say the samething about the GTC/GTC Speed?
The snake in the morning is kinda having that foggy silent hill sensation doesn't it?
I submit that The W12 suits the character in the A8L W12 more so than any coupe. Correct tool for the job and all...
Daniel Hamilton sadly they don’t use the same W12 as the Bentley. It’s a much more outdated version
is the Snake in CALIFORNIA ?
AndrewMacedonia yes it is
Please review that e36 bimmer in the background asap! I've been looking at them for some good time now (might buy one, possibly 325is) and I'd love to see a real driver's perspective on the driving dynamics instead of someone reading off the spec sheet

Great video and car. Having said that I'll take the RS7 instead of this fine set of wheels.
I can't wait for Matt to bin a car on one of these "one takes". Goes to show what they could do with a lighter car if they wanted to. But they won't and I'm glad Bentley sticks to what they always have.
That's the exact car i would buy, if i won alot money or idk got job or something like that which would make me able to spend the kind of money that this car costs:O it is really one of my absolute favorite cars of all time:D

why are Bentley's so heavy do they do it on purpose?
All that leather and steel.
Yea more weight is better for the ride quality
I Want This Bentley.
Over 5,000 lbs? holly shit! my that's 2,000 more than my car, and more than a 1,000 than my van.
3:00 I really don't hope my Bentley will sound like this.
5000+ pounds?! Holy shit what a fucking rhino...
Sounds gorgeous though.
The way it sounds inside the cabin reminded me of AMG's with a M157 engine, good job there.
is this a 2016
I dream to have a dark green on saddle flying spur with this engine. One day one day. I’ve always loved Bentley idk y
You just don't care about the numbers, just those 12 cylinders and that sound.
Except for the fact that it has 8 cylinders, it's even in the title man...
no, it's got 365gtb running gear underneath...
Matt love the videos and commentary btw !!! I have a 2015 Mercedes Benz designo cashmere Matt white E63 Biturbo type S that is modified to to over 730hp and 850ft/tq. If interested in test driving let me know. Thanks
