to me this is one of the best cars on the market. it does everything as long as an EV makes sense for you and you can afford it (price plus depreciation)

Only thing I don’t like about using Apple Music or Spotify on the native car system is I think you have to pay for the upgraded connectivity vs using the data on your phone with car play. All the services add up if you’re not careful

Rivian is still burning money like crazy so i wouldn't call it success yet. I do hope they survive though since their cars are amazing for evs.

I canceled mine. Price dropped $8k in 4 months as the market is flooded with pre-order used ones. Went with a guzzler g63 since I have a model 3 for my commute

Rivian has lost money since day one. On the other hand product looks much better than "that other companies" but I'd be concerned buying a car from a company that has never made a profit. Hopefully they can get themselves together and learn how to become financially viable before too late.

To your Girlfriends point, I have not seen a commercial or any marketing for the rivian. I only know about the vehicle because of you tube videos. I have seen a few models in the Atlanta, GA area.
Could be saving money on marketing by letting it spread from word of mouth. Its look is very distinct so once you see one, you will notice it and ask about it. I certainly did.

Great looking vehicle but needs compatibility with Tesla charging. Otherwise, why review this old one when they just come out with new one?
Unfortunately it is too expensive. They need to make $40,000 versions if they want to survive, here in Georgia they stopped work on their new plant. I am not sure they will survive.
They need to build a base with more expensive cars with better margins. Then once they are profitable, they can introduce the lower priced mass market vehicle. Tesla did the same thing with the Model S and X before the 3 and Y were released. They will be fine.
The r2 is 45k and r3 will be less than that, but as they said, they needed the higher margins to help offset overhead.
Awesome EV. But the thing is about EV’s, is the all drive the same. No matter how much horsepower you have, they all have the same feeling. They all drive the same.

Tesla did the same. In this case, ev startups don’t have much of a choice as they need to offset overhead as they have to make manufacturing plants and service centers. They need higher profit margins as they will be loosing money at first. They need people willing to risk money on a startup which tends to be people with more money. Lucid, Tesla, and rivian, all have started out with more expensive cars and worked down. As he mentioned, china has the government backing the ev development which offset the overhead cost and allow lower prices immediately, the American manufactures do not.

As someone making less than 6 figs and single in a high cost area, I will be buying a R2 as my next vehicle, so sure, I’m taking up that bet. Also batteries will get better in the upcoming years. Things change. You have to help the change. You can recycle parts of the battery. The solid state battery is around the corner which will help range and material costs and weight. Give it 10 years, and things will improve. Like everything else, things take time to improve.
Complaint about lack of car play is not just because the native infotainment is may be not good. But you have to learn new systems. Why? Why reinvent the wheel when car play is well tested and proven?

Seen one of these the other day I was like damn it’s huge and while I was looking at it a Tesla model y performance pulled next to it at the red light and I was like that model y is going to smoke it boy when the light turned green I was wrong ! This thing is fast!

Appreciate the input! I used to typically do a film review and living with vlog for interesting cars. But started seeing the trend that the vlog would typically do better. Giving the combined single video a shot, will see how they perform and the feedback.
Exactly maybe two videos, you already have a platform, if you just review it a little more in your style and then a vlog would be pretty cool
Those door handles make me nervous. Need a 2nd row captain seating and better cup holder set up instead of all that open space in the misty front, some of the other things may not be that big of a deal for me as of right now. I’ll wait it out for another year and see how things go but this is the only ev I would think about buying.

in all seriousness, folks size can change in a single generation simply by having excellent or poor nutrition. Genes aren't everything. Rice is not very complete nutrition by itself. Hence the 'asian' size stereotype that is based on a rice-based diet since it is a poor source of protein.

For $100k there's so many other options that I'd probably go for over this. It's a cool vehicle but I'm not a fan of the exterior design overall.

This is a car you’re better off leasing for ~$700 per month for 3 years.
It's the best 3 row out there at any price right now IMO. The exterior looks great in person. Green isn't my favorite.
