    I always had this mindset when playing osu and I can tell you from personal experience that the worst thing about this is when you dont beat your top score. Imagine setting a play on a map then coming back months later only to not beat your score from months ago. Makes you think if you've even improved at all. Can be really demotivating sometimes

    Can confirm playing offline and not looking at the online leaderboards works since you're gonna eliminate that standard of getting number 1 on said leaderboard which makes you way less anxious since you're not gonna be expecting anything which will ultimately make you play better drastically.

    Damn, a simple yet efficient and really helpful advice.
    I always put my self on having to be competitive asf and whenever I see someone slighty better than me I always get motivated to beat that certain player but with that mindset, I always keep choking cuz of the fact that I keep reminding myself that I need to beat that certain player and can't focus much and end up spamming retry until I quit that session. It's really painful tbh but with this mindset, It will really help me a lot becuz of how you elaborate it and how I thought this thru cuz of the fact that you're not beating anyone rather than yourself which shows how much you could improve and with this you can try many things and not worry abt submitting online that could overrun your top plays and this shows how much you can do and try the once you thought impossible plays could be your best plays of your entire osu journey and that's something you could be proud of, Thank you Spazza! I appreciate everythin your content has to offer!

    There is always a time where your better than yourself before and that’s basically called progress and development, comparing yourself to others isn’t bad but don’t get discouraged because your probably better than most players, where you are right now is probably not your peak, what matters most is your entertainment or fun at the game, beginner or not, there is nothing wrong of being bad, it just takes time.

    I’ve actually been doing for a good while already unintentionally,. I’m not really a normal osu game mode player but a mania player and my goal was just to beat my local rankings and it has helped me improve quite well without a short time span. I’ve now reached the point I’m slightly obsessed with just downloading loads of maps to rank up but I should really go back to attempting to beat my local rankings again as I realise I’ve been in a slump not doing so.

    This is one of the reason I never log on/ play online bcs whenever I get on I always want my rank to increase but not my skill. Tbh having so much farm maps in your osu folder is really negative since u get the incentive to play them just for pp and not for fun/ to improve

    • @rudyranger249
      @rudyranger249 3 года назад

      You should probably delete all of the farm maps in your folder and spend hours downloading any map that isn't tv size.
      Along with that, try to play osu for the music. This might fix your problem with only playing for rank and not for skill. Though make sure you don't play maps that are way too hard for you.

    • @aaaaaa-py6sg
      @aaaaaa-py6sg 2 года назад

      @@rudyranger249 nah the farm map problem is gone then again I can't really delete them bcs I like most of the songs. What I meant for rank gain is whenever I come online I force myself to FC maps or getting a cool score which makes me stressed and choke

    I quit osu standard for 6 years and now if I compare myself against my local scores, I'm an actual nooblet compared to me from 6 years ago.
    So, I switched to lazer for until I can come anywhere close to setting scores which could give me enough pp to where if I had 100 of them would get me to my previous rank.
    I did not import old scores to lazer.
    I'm competing against my recent scores and it's kinda neat seeing how I came from barely passing 5 star maps to passing 8 stars in like 1 1/2 months. Makes me feel like I'm the fastest improving player of all time, yet I'm still a noob compared to past me, especially regarding accuracy and low ar.

    Literally chad osu mindset. Hearing top players in this game talk about mindset is very interesting because they are all very strong. Take whitecat for example, He shits on people who say he can’t do something and is one of the best osu players ever. You can watch streamers like binfy retry spam a map and do much worse than they should simply because of the mindset they have towards it. I agree that mindset is very important but it doesn’t just come over night. Atleast in my opinion mindset is what stops very good players from becoming the “best” players. I don’t really mean the best in the world but atleast the best version of themselves

  • @quellavenix1262
    @quellavenix1262 2 года назад +2

    I was playing the game so much a few years ago and I always wanted to get to a higher rank. I got to the point where I couldn't gain any more rank and was at 75k at the highest. So I took a small break and returned casually. I am almost 100k now but regardless I am seeing far better results, and I get better and better just by playing casually. If the map is a PP map or not I don't care, if I like the map then I will play it.
    I have a couple of friends that are higher ranks than me. But when I play with them, guess who usually comes on top.

    The video in a comment:
    Don't compare yourself with others AND you should play offline, cause competing with yourself is more important than getting demotivated by competing with someone better than you.
    It will boost your confidence and your motivation to play the game.
    I've started to play offline like 10 months ago, and the only thing that changed was my improvement rate and higher motivation to play the game. If I didn't tell myself to play offline, I would probably have been demotivated months ago due to better players. I have also learned some very useful skill sets, such as EZHD. I plan to come back to play online when I can fc 6-7 star maps. I think at early-mid game it's best to play offline if you constantly compare yourself to other people.
    A very unrelated thing, but I play roblox obbies. I treat it like a singleplayer thing. Doing this caused me to pretty much carefully focus on what I'm doing wrong and improving like that.

    Mind block can be a struggle. If it's because of getting too focused on comparing yourself to other or struggling to read a map. I found out a few weeks ago how to hide UI (shift+tab). It made a world of a difference. I turned off hit sounds, and miss sounds because I would focus to much on FCing and health and found myself not actually improving. Now with UI off I don't choke plays anymore or struggle as much because I'm not focusing on anything but the map.

    ive had this exact problem for a while, i actually managed to get a bad score as a new 300pp (which is a lot for me, and it was sadly harumachi fiery diff) and since that ive been managing to get better 300pp's from actual maps that are hr nm and dt and recently ive gotten like 5 300pp plays which first took me 4 months to get (now i got 12 even) one way i knew i improved was that i finally got past a hard part in a map first attempt of the day and the moment i hit it i mightve missed after but i knew i could fc, first try after i fc'd 325pp (for reference, my top play is 338pp) and ive also bc of that in the last 7 days gone from 27k to 23k while i had been stuck on 27k-28k for almost 3 months

    I started to have this negative mindset, that I'm have a lots of A ranks in my profile, it kinda look bad? I'm now spending 2022 correcting the A ranks to S ranks, I have no longer try to submit any new maps except FC, I don't really know if that's a good thing to do it, but I felt happy because I'm able to correct some of the plays from my past 3 years score.
    Anyway enough of my ranting, very informative video, I really like about switching to local ranking, it does help to sooth the nerve, especially when I'm trying to get top 50 in some maps, I tried to focus on beating my old scores and I find it, it is much more easy to full combo.

    And within that pool I can actually improve.
    Certainly more fun to S a 4.5* map in online and get lobby rank 2, than trying to pass a 6* in offline for 50 consecutive plays, succeeding and then getting told I'm rank 7000 on that map.

    I have a question I am at rank 2 million but I am almost certain I'm at least a little better. My aim has improved and I am able to play harder maps what do I do.

      FC maps with at least 95% accuracy, and do that until you feel comfortable with the star rating. Then, go up .5 stars and repeat the process

      @@drownindesigner yeah because my youtube name has osu in it and its relatable to future channel content, it means im dedicating my whole life to it
      btw youre on an osu video too, and considering your pathetic answer, its pretty obvius that you are just babyraging because you are bad at the game, and blaming others who can play with minimum effort and you have to try your hardest to achieve something simple. please rethink your life and free yourself from commenting on this platform
