Once again very well done! I want to thank you for letting me know about frozen puddles, these I will not over, look this year. Thank you, and be safe and have a great holiday season.
Wonderful job of putting together this video. Your performance and editing is right on. Music too. Of course the information and ideas are excellent also. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely video in what is one of my favourite seasons the other being autumn as always very informative and great presentation thanks as always Kim for a very enjoyable video
On Sunday, it snowed in Blackpool for an hour. That's winter done with for another year. 😂🤣 The last time we had snow was in 2018 when the Beast from the East came to town and the snow only lasted half a day. The most reliable place for snow is your neck of the woods, Scotland! I once had an amazing New Year's Eve traversing the The Aonach Eagach in Glen Coe. There was more snow than I could shake a stick at. This was followed over night by a battle with a set of Victorian bagpipes, in a friend's house in Glen Nevis while fuelled on single malts. It wasn't pretty but I got it to play a noise.
What's up Kim? I've watched your videos before, but never commented on any; please don't ask why, because I couldn't tell you. Your ideas are really great. I'm from Cleveland, Ohio living in Phoenix, Az. You have given me things to look at doing when I head back home; which will be real soon. Don't get me wrong, I love it out here in Phoenix. But I'm getting up in age, and I think I need to be around my kin folks and friends from back in the day. I just turned 70 the day before Thanksgiving, and I really miss home. The sound of the leaves crunching under your feet while walking through the woods; or just walking down the street. The sound of freshly fallen snow nuder your feet; I kind of miss that. Anyway great video! Peace!
As always a great video with some very useful tips. Never heard the name Hoar frost , live and learn. seen the frost thou. Don't forget the soup or hot choc when venturing out. Stay safe everyone.
Love your channel Kim, you really show the beauty of nature through your filming and photpgraphs. Your tips and ideas are so valuable, a huge thankyou, enjoy the snow! It truely is magical!
Definitely at note taker, this one. On southern Vancover Island, our snow comes so unpredictably, and usually quickly dissipates. When we do have conditions conducive to going out in it, that I find I'm in a mad rush and just start shooting at everything! This is a valuable check list of things to keep in mind as one moves through the landscape. Thanks Kim!
Just got in from work to see you'd posted this loved it Kim. Doesn't my garden look great in the winter 😂 😂 😂 lll never forget that day we got snowed in but that hour we went out into the fields in front of the cottage to watch that snow tornados was totally amazing and something I'll never forget some great memories. We'll presented and some great tips.... X
Took some of my best shots in Winter Kim, and attempted most of your ideas in this Vlog, one thing I will have a go at is some abstract shots of ice in puddles, they make for some lovely unique images. Very envious of the two beautiful Red Squirrel shots, last time I spotted one in my area was over 40 years ago 🙁 but it is on my bucket list 🤞
Great one, Kim! Winter is gently joining us here in Canada, and I was able to capture many of those scenes a few days ago. ( oh, and here's some Canadian lingo: "storm stayed" : when you are stuck in the house due to too much snow!)
Thank you Kim, I've never ventured out in the snow with a camera, so if we get any, I'll take a walk around our huge public park near me, & see what happens.
Great advice Kim, no problem over this side of the pond with cold temps, first snowfall was a couple of days ago...lots of sub zero photography to come. thanks for sharing.
I took notes on this one. I am having eye surgery prior to Christmas and am hoping that I can pick up the camera again and actually see well enough to try some of these suggestions. By the way, I love my lighthouse calendar! Am looking forward to use it in the new year. Thanks for another wonderful video Kim.
Kim Beautiful pictures that I can only dream about taking. This might be as close as I get to see winter weather this year it was 34 degrees Celsius today in my part of California.
Kim you are very descriptive in conveying your ideas to viewers about where and what to photograph 😀However, I am sure many of us will benefit from a few 'technical tips' regarding e.g. snow photography. A few pointers on how to manage exposure and contrast in these filming conditions; 3 tips about capturing what you are talking about. Thank you. P.S. those SquiRRels are cute
Don't worry that will be coming in another video. This video is just to give people ideas of things to shoot this winter 🙂 I'm planning on doing a tips one like I did in the autumn in January ☺️
Thank you Kim for lots of great tips for us to try this winter. I was lucky enough to be out in a Hoar frost last year but I was too inexperienced to make the most of it. It was magical though. I hope I'll get another chance this year 🙂
I used to have one of their carbon fibre models. Used to love it but recently upgraded to a Benro and it is much better. The K&F was good for the price though but the legs did break after 2 years.
@@marknichols554 no, the extreme cold just this week, but snow since mid to late September. Our fall cookies started mid August. I'm above the arctic circle in Canada.
A beautiful shot of a squirrel, well done.
Great ideas.
Motivating...

Thanks Kim , some great tips I will certainly put some of them into practice this winter
Fantastic video and great examples. Bring on the colder weather.
Nice video and good ideas. I won't be able to use them here in Hawaii, but fun to watch!
A great video Kim. It is a good reminder for us photographers that like to stay inside next to the woodstove. 😊😊
I will watch this then add it to my saved videos so I can follow the tips when we antipodeans go into winter
Enjoyed your quick and concise ideas! Thanks for not taking 10 minutes per idea!
Great video!, Thanks for sharing. I don't live in an area where you see snow in the winter but I truly enjoyed watching.
Thanks Kim, great tips, always nice to see you and your videos.
Very informative.

Thank you. Very helpful.❤️

Excellent Kim! Loved the shot in falling snow of the tree. I live in a part of the country where we hardly get any snow, so thanks for sharing.
Thanks Janet. Glad you liked the photo 😊

Great stuff, but we are several months out from the prospects of snow. Thanks in advance for the ideas.

Brilliant
💜👍
I see you’re using a K&F tripod, which model do you use? Would you recommend them?
I used to have one of their carbon fibre models. Used to love it but recently upgraded to a Benro and it is much better. The K&F was good for the price though but the legs did break after 2 years.
@@kimgrantphotography That’s enough of a recommendation not to buy one. Thank you x
Jealous of your snow pics. Shame we dont get much down here in kent
Just
Thanks for the useful video. For me the background music is a bit distracting from what you are trying to say.
Cold temps, like -38°C, -42°C windchill? 😉 we've had that kind of frost on the tree branches and plant stems since mid September...
Oooh that's cold! 🥶
@@kimgrantphotography we get ice fog at those temps.
@@spidersj12 are you in Siberia?
@@marknichols554 no, the extreme cold just this week, but snow since mid to late September. Our fall cookies started mid August. I'm above the arctic circle in Canada.
How do you stop the snow coming out grey 😒
Try increasing your exposure compensation by one stop 😊
cant find any snow, now its +30degC
You left out the photo’s of the fireplace with the kettle heating up.
whats snow? lol
yawn
Great inspiration Kim, Thanks
Wonderful ideas, thank you.
Glad you liked them William
