Excellent video. I have some turnips in the ground right now for the first time. This was a fabulous video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it.
I follow a whole plant based diet and it has introduced to me to all sorts of veges I have not eaten before. I cant wait to try my turnips. I just bought them
Thank you! I'm going to try microwaving my turnip tomorrow with a bit of oil and the skin still on. I'm trying to learn how to cook all sorts of vegetables. I want to be healthy - and to eat mostly vegetables.
Thanks for the cooking and storage tips regarding turnips. My grandmother made them together with potatoes and I loved them as a child. I'll try the baked-in-the-microwave recipe and eat them like that. Sounds really good. And the great tip about picking the smaller ones. Regards.
I used to work with a guy who bought turnips as a snack to work. I think he had a good idea to snack on them, He would cut them like potato chips or chunks. A dash of salt was OK, but they were surprisingly good. I'm a lousy cook, so eating them raw is good. Th anks for posting this.
Thank you! I've grown turnip greens primarily in the past... specific varieties that make tons of greens without much turnip. This year I planted white turnips and I've got a bumper crop of them. I need to freeze some, but I'm looking at many different recipes.
Thanks for the info on turnips. I grew some this year to feed the deer but was told that I should try some for myself. I have never tried them and was looking for a way to prepare them. Thanks again.
Oh you're so lucky. Fresh turnips. Turnips do store well, but not forever. I hope you can find ways to eat as many as possible...add a turnip to almost every dish you can...mashed, diced, cubed. Turnips are very good for you.
Very informative. Here in Canada we have those small ones but we also have larger types that are covered with wax. I guess to keep them longer due to our climate.
My family always sows an abundance of turnips in the fall for winter consumption, but there's no way that we can ever eat all that we plant. I personally love turnips, so it's always a shame when I have to disk up all of those turnip plants before spring plowing.
Great video. I'm looking for ideas for my new life with Plant Based Foods.....but... Your WEBSITE is dead!! (This is a 10 year old video.... Hell, YOU could be dead..hopefully not?)
Anita is a very appealing presenter, she made turnips interesting. I will definitely try this as I am now a vegetarian. Thanks Anita!
Thank you. As a kid, my mother use to cook turnips. I loved them. I wanted to add variety to my meals, so I decided to buy turnips. Great demo.

Thank you. I think turnips is one of the best kept secrets (and cheap) in the plant-based foods world.

Nice, thanks for the info Anita. I am experimenting with planting a 5 acre plot of turnips to help feed my cows through the winter.

The large ones with wax are called Rutabaga. They are Turnip/Cabbage combo.
Merci.
