For my choice in their new names I would say Xernihil (nihilist is a person who believes that life is meaningless) & Yvival (revival)

The real definition would be closer to "someone who believes nothing in life (including life itself) has any inherent value
For those who aren't just emo about it, this often means they take comfort in a lack of any sort of inherent value, allowing them to live more freely and with less regrets
A little fun fact: sometimes when mooses regrow their antlers, a bit of the skin gets stuck on them. I know that it wasn't probably intentional, but Xerneas having those decaying leaves looks very similar to that

You should definitely go with Groudon/Kyogre next. Making the fish into a land Pokémon, and vice versa would be the most interesting.

I know they aren’t a mascot duo like xerneas and yeveltal but I would love to see giritina and arceas get swapped. A benevolent giritina overthrowing and banishing it’s evil creator sounds awesome

Vivaltal is great! I personally would spell it “Viveltal” but that’s just me, I quite like the name, as it keeps the yveltal feel while breathing life into the Pokémon.
That’s a cool concept. I’d love to see some for the other legendaries, like a moon Solgaleo and sun lunala. Probably wouldn’t work out too well for zacian and zamazenta though.
Those two could be alternative form of Xerneas and Yveltal. The two of them could have lived for eons switching roles. When Xerneas have use too much vital energy he need to recharge and take this form to start absorbing the energy of others living being until he become the Xerneas we know. And for Yveltal once he have absorbed enough vital energy he become this form and start giving some vital energy back. Both of them always switching role of life and death and Zygarde make sure that they always do it at the same time to not perturbate the cycle.
Really cool designs, I'm not ussually the fan of dark and edgy designs but I do like the Xerneas swap so that's pretty cool..

I think Yveltal as a phoenix with Xerneas's color scheme would've worked pretty well too, since they're capable of coming back to life

Fun Fact! When real deers' antlers shed and regrow, they start with a fuzzy velvet until they're full grown and the velvet is shed. This can lead to a deer with blood-covered antlers with dead skin hanging from them. It's perfectly normal and doesn't hurt the deer but it's grizzly to see.

Since yveltal, xerneas and zygarde are the symbolism of the circle of life for xerneas almost reminda me of corruption and the decay of life with his withered/swamp tree form as "nergillus" while yveltal takimg the form as a dove so instead of the one who brings conflict and death, will see to that conflict ends before it even begins while regarding as good fortune so maybe "paxforte"

A cool way of making xerneas evil is by making it resemble a wendigo as they are symbols of winter and starvation whiff often relate to death so I just thought that could be cool

Good Yveltal still looks a bit menacing with the black marks that look like veins, I guess you can say that despite being a symbol of peace it’s not afraid of fighting for good or take the revival approach where it looks poisoned and about to die but peace will always be eternal

Xernatos (from thanatos is a Greek God of death and the name sounds like yearning like yearning for death) and Yenix ( the bird that resurrect from it's ashes)

Another cool idea for these two could be swapping the good/evil dynamic they have:
Instead of death-Xerneas being a hunter/predator, maybe have it be a reaper of souls. They go about the battlefield granting a merciful death to those needlessly suffering.
Life-Yveltal could be based around a sort of adrenaline rush. The extra bit of life you seem to get to keep pushing and fighting, resisting that final rest.

Thanks! I’ll probably do them next! I use photoshop though I know a ton use a program called Procreate. Neither are free but I think there are free alternatives.
I also just use a mouse and a laptop which is ooookayy though I know a lot of the pros use a tablet and stylus pen.

Xerxenas References Xerxes, a warlord king who is associated with invading, war, and armies. Ytherital derives from etherial given its divine nature and angelic appearance.
I adore the design of the re-imagined Xerneas, but not so much on Yvetal (or whatever it's spelled), though it's not terrible at all.

Their names should be: Yeacove (Yevetal, Peace, & Dove) & Xeweares (Xerneas, War, & Ares).
These look super cool. You did an amazing job on these! What if you swapped Lunala and Solgaleo, with Lunala being the Sun and Solgaleo being the Moon, and then Necrozma could have colors from both?
Necroseas would be a cool name for xerneas since Necrosis means death

In an alternate version of kalos ,during a very dangerous war between two nations ,uzuki and uchiku ,zygrade created doublife to protect people,
Doublife can restore anybody's wound and give him another life,
The olive tree ,doublife herits if touches ground ,every war in the world will stop for ages,but after that doublife will become a olive tree for ages to restore his power,
Antivil -( antilope ( a type of deer) + evil/ devil )
Dark + ground
After ages uchiku and uzuki clans started fighting but doublife was taking rest ,
Zygrade became furious and understood war never stops with peace ,so he decided to create a legendary that will make other people fear so they wont war,so he created antivil,
Antivil takes life energy from other beings to make them fear 😨,but then antivil decided to take life from others without any reason to make him immortal ,so antivil started killing others ,so antivil and doublife started fighting

Xerneas could become Averneas after a Latin name for the entrance to the underworld (Avernus), while maybe Yveltal becomes Biental, since bien can mean well, as in wellness. Now they're A & B legendaries!

The sun Lion Solgaleo and the moon bat Lunala become a moon Lion and a sun bat.
I don't think the gen 8 and 9 box art legends would work as well as gen 8 are both dogs but one has a sword while the other has a shield they might look more like shiny versions then new mons. And gen 9's are both paradox versions of the same mon while it could work they might look to much like the other then a new mon.

Tbh I think these are just better than Yeveltal and Xerneas. Yeveltal always was a Pokémon I wanted to love but something was just off with it, and same for Xerneas. But this kinda just showed me I think the concepts should’ve been swapped. I love them both so much and think they fit much better design wise
