Not gonna lie, this vid did a good job reminding me of HFTD Hailstorm. He was a nifty little dude that I gotta track down.
I have the Hailstorm version but I do want the Mindset repaint.
I was luck and found a hailstorm at a local collectables shop for like 6 bucks.

Oh boy, I had that "Shine Lion" thing as a toy as a kid. We got it from a dollar store. It was from a bootleg Power Rangers set.
I laughed when TJ tries to figure out the design of the Zybot toy because it looks nothing like a robot but then he realizes that the artwork of the character looks exactly like the toy.

I have amassed most of my collection from eBay. Finding a complete figure for a good price is always a challenge sometimes have to outbid 20+ folks to get a winning figure.
It´s exactly that challenge why I like hunting online much more then in a brick and mortar store nowdays. And because regular stores are often sold out on the good stuff anyway.
I do this as well. It’s great fun. There’s a great one at the moment where someone has a Saesee Tim Star Wars transformer up that they say they don’t know if it’s complete. It literally has no arms or legs.
Something that annoys me is when I was looking for Armada Megatron, I saw so many listings claiming to have a "complete" figure, but when you look at the pictures you can CLEARLY see his horns missing and absolutely no proof that he comes with his minicon.

I wonder why the sellers keep on telling us that their products are Transformers but are actually not? A fun video to see TJ just surfing eBay.

The last thing, the 'double winged flying raptor bot' is a toy I used to own.
They came in a box of four. One being a green brachiosaurus, a red triceratops, a brown styracosaurus and the blue raptor we see here.
I got them from a fun fair, which are infamous for selling knock off toys as we know.
Parts would fall off all the time when playing with them and their transformation consisted of just popping their head and feet the other way around for the robot to be revealed.
I tossed them in the bin two years ago when cleaning the basement.. Wish I kept them, seeing how 'rare' they apparently are.. damn!
That Iron Car is a KO of Iron Gear from the series Xabungle.
The quotes around "Rare" "Transformer" are apt.
Zybots may well be better known for their Robot Chicken appearance than for actually being a memorable toyline...

I was browsing a local online store app and there was this one entry where they are selling 3 of these tiny, cheaply-made, copies of actual Transformers.
They do Transform, albeit in a simplified manner, and they are usually sold for like a quarter of a dollar.
And yet THAT posting was selling 3 of them as "Rare" items, and priced them for 11 USD.
It's weird you called the Zybots knock off Go-Bots... I thought the Zybots were the Go-Bots Combiner subline trying to compete with Transformers combiners except the combined modes for the Zybots look AWEFUL!
BTW That last Dinobot Transformer you showed off at the end of the video... I actually HAD that toy. It came in a four pack with three other figures. The robot mode is mistransformed in that image but that figure was actually the best figure in that entire set. The other three were terrible. The beast modes were all fairly decent but the robot modes were usually just the laziest transformations that didn't even care about trying to hide the beast mode kibble. They had some decent articulation, better than you would expect from a cheap knock off set like this... like even the actual G1 Dinobots weren't that good... but the kibble usually got in the way of making any pose actually look good.
Anyway... those were my Dinobots for a while since I never had a real set of G1 Dinobots...
Canadian here. I love searching for TF auctions to look for something worth sniping. There's that listing of _"ROTF Power Bots Megatron New In Box RARE!!!!"_ that's up for months. At the beginning, starting bid was for 120$CAN. Now it's 60$CAN but something, it go back up to 80$CAN. There's just another in box, but many looses for like 10$ or less. Jesus.

I saw an incomplete, beat-up blue Voltron lion from the 80s listed as "Blue robot transformer dog, rare".
It's silly that they put "rare" in the title. People looking for the item know this and I don't think it would influence someone not familiar with the item.
I think "rare" is a relic of the 2005ish online sellers bouble, when people tried to buy and resell even if they had no experience or ideaa on how, and it become a self contained meme
In Space Year 2021, the 80's and 90's knockoffs from the likes of Four Star and Leader Shine probably are rare, if only because they'd have had to survive this long, but still aren't necessarily worth anything.

I do the same thing, except I look for Transformers Customs. And I found some doozies. Okay so you can find some of the stuff you’d expect, filler kits, some homages, but then you get to the weird/kinda cool stuff. I found an Animated Blurr that turned into the Batmobile, and a couple of Movie Bumblebees (debatable as to which movies) made into Subzero and Scorpion. Feel free to give it a try, you can find things.

6:15 I know for sure that guy with the green head and arms and black torso is a kids meal toy, from like the early 2000's for a kids show I think might have been on fox kids or something. I know that because I saw the show and had that toy. I don't remember the name of the show, but I do know it was about this guy who has a missing father and one day he and one of his friends get sent to to some other dimension where his missing father was in and the guy teamed up with a robot and few other characters (including the guy with the green head and black torso). While the Main guy the series follows is in this other world/dimension has powers to be able to shape shift parts of his body into people and things he seen before to mimic their powers. To express that the kids meal toys had a gimmick where heads and legs could detached from the torso for a mix and match with the other figures they did with them.

That "rare made in Macao Transformer" is, in fact, the super-cheap Dairugger XV/ Vehicle Voltron put out ages ago by LJN. Also, ZyBots is RemCo's failed GoBots and Transformers competitor... and it was CHEAP enough where they killed it off before series 3 came out. A lot of these listings just seem like a mom or dad cleaning out the basement thinking they can get some good money off their college-bound kid's random figures because they saw a dude get a buttload for actual G1 Transformers on Pawn Stars without actually doing any looking into what they have and without regard to the condition of the figures. Yeah, no. They shouldn't do that. What they should do is list these figures together as a grab-bag lot for parts-hunters and take what they can get for it. Because that's what a lot of these are. Parts fodder.
I use to owned the last dino figure shown in this vid. It's from Dino Squad by Tatsumiya and I got a bootleg set from a 99 cent store at a really young age. They're really weird but I absolutely loved them.

I wanted to ask for someone like me whose looking at Transformers, but hears a lot about how Hasbro has gone down in quality, should I just try and buy the old 2005 stuff, or try a new series? As an outsider looking in for the first time in a long time, I just see a lot of G1 Pandering. I hear the Kingdom Line is meant to be G1 and Beast Wars, but not as good as they used to be.

i found and bought a perfect condition DX King J-Der for 30 € on ebay once. Also a Zeo megazord with only the sword missing for 35€, funnily enough it came with a lot of extra stuff like Super Zeo zords, a Ninjor and others, which i sold and not only got my money back but gained an aditional 30 € on top

In all honesty, there was a point where I would have fallen for these things. Children shouldn’t have eBay.
thing is, a few "knockoff" comes from either other unrelated series, which are just repackage of older serie that would otherwise not reach some places, but are perfectly fine.
the problem is with the lead-painted, asbestos&plastic figures that sometimes you find around, with things like "supermen sentai league" in the title, and a shrek figure in the set...

Okay, the buggy is clearly a knockoff Buggyman from GoBots. Given the Australian price tag it's probably a Robo Machine or still a knockoff. I still have my Motobot truck (mine was blue but I think I had a yellow one as well).
Shine Lion is part of a third-party combiner group in the Quick Change line I picked up at Big Lots and wrote a review for which is the link I tried to bring up so you could see him and his friends. It's probably a knock-off of something because they made Aerialbots and Combaticon knock-offs I've also reviewed as well as a few other transforming robots

I was not expecting you to show a 4 star mr hardhat component. its supposed to be a crane. truth be told. mr hardhat bots are just rare in any condition, as most of them have probably been destroyed. granted. not as rare as its brother racetron. but still rare. yes.
