I was 18 when he died. Seems like a lifetime ago. Just watched a have I got news for you with him in it in 1996. He was the same age that I am now. Mad.
@@MrDaiseymay he refused to go to see a dr despite the producers and writers of father ted imploring him to do so in one episode of father ted you can see him having a small heart attack. he was not a well man
It's the episode where he gets a shock and jumps a bit. Frank Kelly said in an interview after dermot died that dermot was on very strong blood pressure medication and coming towards the end of the final series he was very tired looking. I saw the comic relief special he did with ardal o Hanlon and looked awful.
this is Dermot Morgan before he did Father Ted I didn't know he was a stand up but after seeing this I can understand why father ted was such a success this is a great live stand-up performance it does in my top ten live stand-up comedy moments of all time I recently got this in a charity shop where I live in Pinner I got it for £1 fantastic I believe this is the only stand-up film you ever did enjoy
EllenTheTwig Dermot Morgan a one off person all wit Irish only us can relate taken too soon laughter we need Dermot we miss you the best comedian ever here father Ted was the best ever rip Dermot god bless you for the humour of the great Irish wit 😅
I was planning on watching this and skipping through big chunks just to get a taste of what his live shows were all about (I’m 32 so, only really know Dermot from Fr. Ted) but I just end up sitting back and watching the whole thing!! Really good stuff! Great to see his talent still being recognised!
I had my first Guinness around the age of 20, Jesus it took me all night to drink it...Now Caffrey's goes down easy however after the 5th one geeez it felt like the world was spinning a million miles a hour and the next day I swear a bus hit me..
I saw a great doco on Dermot today regarding his life, family and work and Father Ted. He did stand up before anyone knew what it was. I was ecstatic to find this because they talked about his determination to keep creating his comic writing and performance after a cancellation of his show after 3 series. I believe he was quite advanced soul and was striving on another level to put his loving and comedic message out into the world. It was a race to get to Father Ted. And he did it. God bless all who love his genius as I do. RIP💔💙 😂❤️❤️❤️🌹
@@rogerlapin9809 The Irish comedy scene is very very ordinary nowadays in comparison. The impressionists only copying him from what he done in the '80's, and then his material was original, doing Reynolds, P.Flynn, and Jimmy Magee!
Four years before his fatal heart attack, but you can already hear how very out of breath Dermot was in this performance. Never put it off, or ignore signs, or avoid asking basic questions of your doctor.
+Ackros Gliceas I'd like to see Bishop Dougall or Cardinal Dougall, i.e. same actor ( O'Hanlon or something i think) plays dougall, appointed to the island district or somewhere else dire because nobody wants to be there, Ted has passed but is a voice in Dougalls head - wonder if anyone from Dermots family sounds the same ?

Dermot's joke about the Irish Rugby team and Football team is so strange today. It's been flipped on its head The Rugby team are so much better than the Football team these days! 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Gonna get slammed for this but I didn't find this funny at all....Loved Father Ted, loved it, respect the writers and actors so much and I so so wanted to love this....first time I've seen his stand up and thought I was settled for an hour and a half of comedy gold....but oh no, dear lord...it's like amateur student comedy from the 80s....possibly because I don't know the irish personalities referred to, so in that regard I'm perfectly prepared to be shot down in flames for my iconoclasm. :-) Anyone have any links to other material he has performed? My searches have provided scant return...:-) Still reckon he's a legend of the first order.
Alex, if you don't know the characters who he's mimicking then clearly you're not going to find it particularly entertaining. The audience are clearly enjoying it.
That is understandable. Dermot was well known at home for his Saturday morning radio sketch show (also featuring Pauline McLynn) where he quite brilliantly lampooned these same politicians, so this is what the crowd would expect in his live show. He was a very funny man.
A brilliant man who left us far too soon. R.I.P Dermot
Yep agreed.

So rare to see him as anything other than Father Ted in my little bubble. Thanks for posting!
Brilliant comedy Dermot. Such a handsome Irishman 😍! Gone too soon to be sure!

Very funny man.
23 years on, Father Ted remains a classic.

What a hero! This show never ever gets old. :)
Would anyone happen to know the name of the song he's using for his Bono bit? :P
The soccor and rugby gag didn't hold up super well
The joke about the Irish soccer team winning their games has not aged well haha

It’s just dated a bit and is made for an Irish audience. The talent still comes through.
