Thank you another great episode I have made my list and am working on the biggest item on it at the moment. I’m making the anthology throw by Helen Stewart with my 2023 advent box. I finished my July socks and have August socks cast on for portable knitting. I have a cardigan on the needles that I really need to finish for this fall if it ever comes to south Texas. If those items all get done I have yarn for a couple more Emotional Support Chickens in the pride/progress yarns. I am resisting the temptation to start new things. I do need to swatch for two other projects that will be fall/winter knits.
Well done! Love the sleeves TAAT--great way to get them even. I have a list (or several as I lose them, change my mind....I'm awful 😂). Been out of country for 5 weeks and severely jet lagged (14 hour time difference), so am just now getting reacquainted with my WIP pile and as such am nearly done with one sleeve of a cardigan (other sleeve and remaining 1/4 of body to go) 🥳Really want to get both sleeves done before the weekend and not get (more) distracted by shiny new cast ons.
I am excited for my summer plans to join in the summer MAL. The Octopus and jumper are so cute. Good job! . I have 4 WIPS I hope to finish soon and plans for possibly starting some new items. Thanks for the motivation! 💚
Love your videos so much, thanks, Martyn! I buy yarn for specific projects, but I buy faster than I knit. All those projects go in my Queue on Ravelry. (No yarn yet? Those stay on Favorites!) When I CO, it becomes a Project. I use a Gideon Method chart I made so that I can devote 12 hours in turn to each of 5 projects. (1. I can’t monogamous-knit, it drives me crazy, and 2. I devote no more than one slot to things like sewing or genealogy). When one is done, I shop my Queue, where I put important things at the top.
Loving your octopus, I’ve just got the yarn to make Keane the squid. You’ve got me well and truly hooked on Toft. I’ve just finished the frog bag ❤🐸🧶 . I always do both of my sleeves at once, it seems to be quicker! Even if it is just in my head 😂
No probs about mentioning the 'C' word this early. I'm part of a project wind orchestra and our concert this year is on 14th December. Very much a festive concert. Dots were sent out today... YAY! MORAG!
That octopus is brilliant! 🐙 It looks so effective with the hand dyed yarn. Very impressed at this amount of enthusiasm and detail whilst you were hungover 😅 Great episode, thanks! x
If you didn’t say I would never imagine you went on a night out the day before! ❤😂 I was thinking to have a list for next projects but I have a number of project bags with the yarn inside in my living room cupboard and I should pick there when I want to start a new project. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work as I need to match my mood, the weather, brain space etc 😂
Graeme looks awesome! My yarn arrived ages ago and yet I've been trying to finish off previous projects instead as part of the summer MAL. Really need to write that list though as it's currently in my head and I've had another list of "things to do" that has obviously taken priority - almost there with updating my address and cancelling things now so yay!!!
I just finished Clue #2 of the SSAL and I did the Brioche option!!!! And it worked! #proudofmyself. Busy weaving in all the ends right now, so that I will be ready for Clue #3 tomorrow. I just broke down and bought 2 skeins of Fag Beyond from Undercover Otter’s Queerdo Collection. It looks like it will be fabulous to knit something with. 😬 And I have some sweater yarn coming from S & P (paid for 2 months ago so it doesn’t count) and 2 shawls to finish…. And it will be MKAL kit season before you know it. I’m already feeling behind.
You have inspired me to make a list, starting with four baby blankets, finish my Artus shawl, finish Derecho top, and start/finish Floodlight tee. I made two baby blankets, two at a time, for twins and wanted to sure that they were the same size. It was a chore, but when I was finished, I had both of them done. I have four more blankets to make and will do the same thing. Your sweater is adorable! How lucky for the nieces and nephew. Happy knitting and I look forward to the next episode!
Thank you Martyn for inspiring me to start a list….October is coming, no matter what anyone says! 😇I also do TAAT when possible (vanilla socks, sleeves) I agree it does keep projects consistent. I’m anxious to see what buttons you choose for the jumper (remember to be sure they’re washable…..ask me how I know😵💫) I think sharing progress helps keep us on task so thanks for sharing and keeping us up to date. (Have you completed the Westknits sock along socks? You little 😈) It was good to see Mark! Have a lovely week!
Hi Martyn, on bottom up sweaters I do the sleeves at the same time, mostly to ensure the increases are at the same place. I connect the two sleeves together with a bulb stitch marker, to help ensure that I don't turn the knitting round at the wrong point x
Hi Martyn, Noah's jumper is really growing. Can't wait to see Morag. It's a pattern that I love, but out of the budget atm. I finished Mums capelet/shawl in time for her birthday on the 14th. She's using it regularly, which is good. Finished an old wip of a baby blanket, but not been able to craft since Friday, hands and fingers a bit sore. Hopefully tomorrow! Have a great week. xxJane 🐑🌼
There is a list in my head but I'm seem to be in my monogamous phase, so working one at a time. Got a Delineate from pompom quarterly on my needles. Want to be able to wear it in August, so the aim is to finish by end July. Then I plan to cast on a Jumper. I always do TAAT sleeves and socks, I hate repeating what I've just made so have to do them together.
Love the octopus, looks fab in that colourway. My makes have been baby blanket which travelled with me on holiday, and is now completed before the baby's due date - phew! Next on my list is finishing a second sock, I'm almost at the toe so almost there. Hope the hangover is long gone for you both x
I'm about start knitting a jumper for my grandson and cardigan for my granddaughter and will be knitting both sleeves at the same time as I get stuck on sleeve island frequently. Love the octopus.
LOVE the octopus!! I've gotten soooo many "little things" done, I've decided that this is my summer of "one skein wonders".... I had lots of patterns just waiting!! This MAL is the perfect medium to get them done!!! I don't do Instagram (I'd NEVER get anything done!!! 🤣😂🤣) so I can't decide....do I send one MASSIVE email mail with all my projects?? Oooor, a lot of short emails with 1-2 projects??? Which is best for you??
hello martyn, will the TOFT-summer competition happen without you? and another question : how are things going with the dye-adventure that sprouted in the latest wonderwool-show when 4 of your dye-friends should each dye 2 skeins of yarn? (youtube made me rewatch that episode). good luck with your list!
You are so good to do your video even when a bit hangover. 😁 Thanks 🙏 When knitting on two pieces at a time, I usually join them with a big closable stitch marker, then it is easier to always stay on the same row for both parts, You have to be careful though not to join both parts and to use a different ball for each part. It is especially helpful when you have to lput down the knitting and come back to it later. I love doing things two at a time, it gives me the impression i finish my projects quicker, I never have second sock syndrome ... Sleeves are usuallu 1/3 of the yarn on a sweater.
Hi Martyn and Mark. I have a list. About 30 long. As I have a friend that adds to it for me. Oh that’s nice I’ll have one please. Also she tells others Ange will do it. So I know how that feels. Also my stuff ends up the same as Marks jumper. Western Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🧶💜
Oh yes, I love the shoulder buttons. And the wool you chose for the octopus is perfect. Progress!!!!

You have inspired me to make a list Martyn. I have a lot to put on it 😂, I shall need a large sheet of paper 📝.thanks for sharing x💕
Love the octopus ❤❤❤❤ dare I say Mark's Jumper??? Told you he can wear it for Pride 2025 😂😂😂
I was thinking about Mark's jumper, too. One day we will all be surprised.
Making a list - checking it twice 😄 using your MAL as a wip-buster: finishing the first thing tonight 👏🏻
Thank you Martyn for inspiring me to start a list….October is coming, no matter what anyone says! 😇I also do TAAT when possible (vanilla socks, sleeves) I agree it does keep projects consistent. You are going so well with your Summer list Martyn. Inspirational!
I always make two sleeves or two jumper fronts, and even 2 socks at a time. That way they always match.
Love the octopus ❤

Martyn how do we get you over 10,000. People please share let’s do this!,,,
Loom bands for stitch markers 🤔
I'm in the 'inspired' category, I think I'm going to make my own Summer MAL list. But I have to ask - how is Mark's jumper going?
