In this episode, Mitchell goes to film what he thinks is a normal siren test in Kenosha County, Wisconsin until he hears an ambient P-50 continuing to go off for five minutes past the test time... He goes to investigate, and witnesses one of the rarest siren failures firsthand.

This was entertaining to watch.
Nice video and channel! The same thing happened for about 23 minutes to the Model 2 in my town. The siren has a weird control setup, with multiple Square D brand flashers for controlling the different signals, 2 Motorola radios, and one of those rare Whelen DTMF encoders to send back a polling response to the other Whelen equipment at dispatch about 20 miles away. The FD eventually went in, and didn’t know what they were doing. They let me come in the room. They then proceeded to pull the wires out of the Whelen Encoder, saying “It might send the beepy thingies to the green boxes and shut the siren off!” The box they were talking about was of course one of the flashers. They thought pulling the wires on the Whelen endec would send tones TO THE FLASHER. Eventually they stuck a screwdriver INTO THE RC2W and pried the contactor apart. About 2 weeks later I see a Whelen and Federal Signal crew there fixing everything up and was told that the 2 people that pulled the wires and messed with the contactor were fired because they could’ve just switched off the main power to the siren. Props to the Kenosha or Trevor FD whatever it was for doing the right thing.

I was almost thinking that the welded shut relay would burn the motor out and start smoking like the Plymouth Indiana T-128.
Not with a continuous duty motor
@@TheSleepyMechanic0524 I realized later on that Doerr motors in P-50s were continuous duty motors and having fans to cool down the motor so it could handle running for a good amount of time.

Arent they built to last really long? Like a tornado would be over 30 minutes long
Yeah, but a siren is only built to sound up to 3 to 15 minutes at a time without the motor overheating, but yeah, they’re built to last very long against the weather

P-50s have fans in the motors to cool them off, so P-50s can probably run for 2 hours straight if they had to.

I don't think anyone there was. It's not a good idea to be near a running siren without hearing protection.

Dude. The motor is burnt. Any siren using a fan burns when it goes 15 mins or more!
It's motor was strained. And it's not a fan and it's a chopper. There's fans in the motor that cools it down.

@@traintraveler5413 clayranger143, got exposed for being a predator thus leading to him getting removed from the SHO team, videos will return, they have to redo the outro music. He will no longer appear in anymore new SHO videos.
