He lost against Froz in the lower bracket semifinals and missed meeting you in the lower bracket finals. I don't play anymore but I still watch your casts daily and really appreciate you keeping SC1 (my first love) alive for me and all of these other NA viewers.

I think this is one of your best casts on this channel. A small thing I noticed was when you said: You might be like "why 3 is it wraiths?"; and then proceeded to explain it. There is a tendency for a lot of people to hear the question "why (something)?" or "why not (something else)?" and take it as a rhetorical question to suggest that this thing would be superior even when it was just meant as a simple question. Explaining all these little "why?" questions is super helpful for the viewers (like me) who don't play brood war and literally don't know the reasons why certain decisions are made. Great game, great commentary 👍
@@Ceratisa Defiler has counterplay by the time it's being made and you can't really not do anything before you get them, but due to the micro potential of mutas and how early on you can make them you can win just by spamming them constantly a lot of the time Which is why people started valk rushing, which are also countered by scourge and zergs started getting carapace because of it too
So we use this bug quite regularly in a map Called Diplo Infinity. There is a 2nd caveat to the bunker/turret freezing. It only works if you come in from the sides or from the bottom. It doesn’t work if you try to freeze it coming in from the top. Which is why if you spam “S” the turret eventually fires. Because the turret eventually spins where the angle of attack is pointing up, allowing it to fire.
How do you trigger it? I noticed the mutalisk also wasnt attacking. Do you just press hold position? Okay wait this is a stupid question but if you press hold, does no unit in the game fire anymore? I thought this only applies to lurkers.
@ As far as the unit not firing, I’d call it a one off. Only because I admittedly don’t see it in my games most of the time. Now, we don’t use mutalisks, we use dropships/wraiths/scouts/corsairs(can also use any Terran flying buildings). If he does press hold position, as long as another flying unit doesn’t fly over top of the muta, the turret will stay frozen. If you fly a flying unit onto the unit freezing the turret, you can get your unit to “shove” the other unit out of the way to get the turret to start firing again as well. I do think that 9 times out of 10 the unit will either shoot the turret or shoot the units around it as long as they’re in range, but this was the 1 out of 10 it doesn’t. Which is funny because this is probably the 1 in 10,000 we see this even be used in a StarCraft game.
@@BobJason1 I wonder if the exact same bug that is preventing the turret from shooting is also preventing the muta from shooting: overlapping with the dead center of an enemy unit.
Hello fellow diplo infinity lol. You trigger this bug by spamming move command by the M hotkey on the turret or bunker. Works with every air damage dealing unit - corsair, Valk, wraith, battle cruiser, scout and such. Works with dropships too if you unload on the turret
Yeah I was only paying a little attention and so it looked like vultures were firing into thin air and the drone came out of the extractor to meet the vulture shots 😂
Crazy game. Felt like the mutas were doing so much damage and the Zerg must have been ahead, then all of a sudden once the vessels were online it was like the Zerg was suddenly dead.
Loving this channel! I played on iccup or whatever it was called, back in like 2009 but then got distracted by dota2 for years. Stumbling on your channel a few months ago was a great revival of this great game.
Artosis when you play TvT, if you fly a terran dropship onto a missile turret from the side (not from above the turret) with the 'unload all' command, it will freeze 100% of the time while you unload. Works with lots of units, even floating terran structures. Can freeze bunkers with wraiths and valkyires and other units too.
@10:40 - I had no idea rulings in the tourneys for SC1 were controversial like that. I wonder if they'd DQ someone these days?? Nobody will probably try it, I would think, for the likelihood of throwing the game by losing to a DQ

I’d love to chip in a few bucks to the prize pool, and I’d even be down to do this on a yearly basis. If we could gather around $5k a year, this could be huge for Brood War!

I've had people do that one to me before. I play more custom games though and the person did it to me with a scout. I think you can click patrol onto a cannon/MT to make it happen. It's also easy to do with scourge, valkyries, or corsairs.
Hey Artosis! This was such a cool game, thanks for casting it! I was never super good at melee in brood war, but I did play a ton of UMS maps. One of them, Diplomacy: Infinity, has tons of fun ways to abuse the missile turret glitch! There's also the exact same glitch that's present for the bunker and the spore colony, we used to always do the glitch with dropships so seeing it done with mutas makes perfect sense to me. If anyone wonders how to do it, I can explain, it's a very finicky bug lol.

Speed now going back into bio, +1 attack, up to 3 rax. 9:08 and the irradiate lands! so this is pretty much held. these mutas are gonna be so low now. starts another vulture, which is kinda nuts, i guess there's no armory for a goliath. 9:35 yeah. definitely never seen that with a muta lol. one thing i never knew is that the muta doesn't shoot the turret either, which is pretty weird 10:36 ok, hydras coming, the latest academy ever, no hive because Z has been kept on 2 base, so no crazy zerg. and going now into 4 rax. if he can get medics out, terran looks fine, simply because Z can't get to 3 base atm. still only 25 drones. It looks bad that terran had to lift the nat, but keep in mind that terran can actually go 1 base against 2 in this matchup for a while. He's got 4 vessels against no lurkers or hive yet. so the question now becomes, do we get some tanks. hive is a LONG way off here. a tank push is absolutely possible, even though the timing of it is absolutely crazy. adds the second gas we'll see if he starts adding tanks or just builds a second port. this +1 infantry weaps is quite quick, compared to the hive. that's +1 carapace on the other side for zerg, terran way ahead on ups, somehow, out of this scramble. 12:55 zerg adding *counting things....* about 700 thousand lurkers and going to hive. FINALLY zergling speed, at almost 13 minutes, shows how crazy this game has been. 13:25 ok... so for the record. speed is definitely spending his gas. i have no idea what he's spending it on, but it's staying very low. window for a tank push is past, tho. this vessel push is very scary, but i don't believe queen will die to it, he's just going to bleed a LOT of lurkers to all these irradiates. 14:29 both sides launching haymakers! terran shuts down the third and is gonna send zerg back into the 20s in worker count, but the ling flood hits at the front! i think queen needs to lift the nat again to extend the game. he can't even afford to start consume while continuing to build units. AND QUEEN'S HAD ENOUGH what a crazy game from speed. i think the initial damage was too much for queen, i was expecting he would add a few hydras before mutas; maybe he should have. Thanks RT!
The vulture and wraith harrassment was good but it seemed like Speed was behind after the muta counterattack, he had to lift his natural CC. I guess Queen just committed too hard with the mutalisks which were broken apart by the science vessels? Maybe he thought he could win and didn't move to expand and tech up. Science Vessel rush with mass turrets seemed like a good counter to muta. I wonder if we will see more of that.
He didn’t over commit with mutas. Science vessel marines will destroy 11 mutas in a straight up fight so he kept harassing with them to delay Terran from moving out, forcing Terran to stay on defense so he can tech to lurkers. If he sent those mutas straight back home after the first irradiate, Terran would b line to the natural with a handful of marines, a few medics, and science vessels then the game would’ve ended 2 minutes earlier.
@@leeva93 That makes sense. Do you think additional zerglings would have helped or at that point the terran did enough damage that they only needed to stall to get critical mass of science vessels and assuming no major blunders they win just based on unit comp?
I saw a strange bug the other day when I played Fastest Map. My zealots kept running into an invisible wall, while my ally ran his units over the exact same area. It felt as if someone was able to control my units and turn them around from attacking.
If only he still won after pulling off that bug!!! Bro didn't want to let go of the mutas but the irradiates are too strong, he shoulda tucked em away for more harrasment later
This game was crazy though I'm not sure how much there is to learn from it, besides "Speed is a god!" The timing on the wraiths + missile turret defence was absolutely insane though. It felt like he was super close to dead there. Now we see that SK Terran is really just "mass vessels with MM for support" which I guess was the whole point all along
i understand why i didnt see this bug with muta with observer you just right click and it stops exactly above turret with muta you cant do that, it will stop nearby and shoot btw rewatching the replay i noticed turret was shooting before muta bugged it, so it doesnt require a building turret

That turret bug reminds me of that UMS map where you have to clear 21 or 28 bugs/glitches in the game.
Too much starcraft content is not something I'd list as a problem. But if it has to be one, I'll take it.

couple valks push this back easy btw. Using dropships/shuttles to stop turrets from firing is something I learned how to do in custom games.

10:36 ok, hydras coming, the latest academy ever, no hive because Z has been kept on 2 base, so no crazy zerg. and going now into 4 rax. if he can get medics out, terran looks fine, simply because Z can't get to 3 base atm. still only 25 drones. It looks bad that terran had to lift the nat, but keep in mind that terran can actually go 1 base against 2 in this matchup for a while. He's got 4 vessels against no lurkers or hive yet. so the question now becomes, do we get some tanks. hive is a LONG way off here. a tank push is absolutely possible, even though the timing of it is absolutely crazy. adds the second gas we'll see if he starts adding tanks or just builds a second port. this +1 infantry weaps is quite quick, compared to the hive. that's +1 carapace on the other side for zerg, terran way ahead on ups, somehow, out of this scramble.
12:55 zerg adding *counting things....* about 700 thousand lurkers and going to hive. FINALLY zergling speed, at almost 13 minutes, shows how crazy this game has been.
13:25 ok... so for the record. speed is definitely spending his gas. i have no idea what he's spending it on, but it's staying very low. window for a tank push is past, tho. this vessel push is very scary, but i don't believe queen will die to it, he's just going to bleed a LOT of lurkers to all these irradiates.
14:29 both sides launching haymakers! terran shuts down the third and is gonna send zerg back into the 20s in worker count, but the ling flood hits at the front! i think queen needs to lift the nat again to extend the game. he can't even afford to start consume while continuing to build units.

The vulture and wraith harrassment was good but it seemed like Speed was behind after the muta counterattack, he had to lift his natural CC. I guess Queen just committed too hard with the mutalisks which were broken apart by the science vessels? Maybe he thought he could win and didn't move to expand and tech up.
Science Vessel rush with mass turrets seemed like a good counter to muta. I wonder if we will see more of that.
He didn’t over commit with mutas. Science vessel marines will destroy 11 mutas in a straight up fight so he kept harassing with them to delay Terran from moving out, forcing Terran to stay on defense so he can tech to lurkers. If he sent those mutas straight back home after the first irradiate, Terran would b line to the natural with a handful of marines, a few medics, and science vessels then the game would’ve ended 2 minutes earlier.

That makes sense. Do you think additional zerglings would have helped or at that point the terran did enough damage that they only needed to stall to get critical mass of science vessels and assuming no major blunders they win just based on unit comp?

Turret can be fixed by pressing (stop) button few times.
Queen's been doing the turret trick for a year or so, im pretty sure you've seen it before.
Been playing USM for decades. Works with Shuttles and Dropships as well.
I saw a strange bug the other day when I played Fastest Map. My zealots kept running into an invisible wall, while my ally ran his units over the exact same area. It felt as if someone was able to control my units and turn them around from attacking.

This game was crazy though I'm not sure how much there is to learn from it, besides "Speed is a god!" The timing on the wraiths + missile turret defence was absolutely insane though. It felt like he was super close to dead there. Now we see that SK Terran is really just "mass vessels with MM for support" which I guess was the whole point all along

with observer you just right click and it stops exactly above turret
with muta you cant do that, it will stop nearby and shoot
btw rewatching the replay i noticed turret was shooting before muta bugged it, so it doesnt require a building turret
