as horrifying and how truly dreadful the thought of trying to P rank P-2 on brutal is, i've done it, and I kid you not, im still feeling the aftershock of how great it felt to this very day. (i've had it P-ranked for about a month)
I actually just P-ranked Gabriel on brutal since it was requested by somebody, and holy shit the difference in difficulty is HUGE. I had trouble just trying to get through one of the normal levels to get to 3-2, like this difficulty is like... a HUGE STEPUP in difficulty from standard, violent, lenient, etc.
Imagine trying to parry with the knuckle buster (i only own the ultrakill demo and have p ranked every level on it and still struggle with parrying ranged attacks)
I don't actually think they're *immune,* per se, the instakill actually isn't 'intended' even on Violent, but Hakita kept it in cause it's cool I guess (based). The reason it doesn't work on Brutal is because the faster projectile speed makes the window to do it extremely tight if not outright impossible (as I understand at least, I could be wrong). But I don't actually think Hakita removed the instakill on purpose I think it's just a consequence of other changes.
@@DumpsterManTVBrutal mindflayers do actually have immunity to their own explosion-deflected projectiles (parries and non-mindflayer friendly fire are still fair game), the instakill can get really consistent and would end up trivializing them at high-level play, and the nerf to radiant mindflayer hp when Violence released meant they could be instakilled too (and people definitely felt 60-hp rad mindflayers were too much so that wasn't going to get reverted), so this change keeps them threatening without removing the instakill from the game completely.

I love how dumpster's muscle memory tells him to overpump the shotgun once and then he projectile boosts anyway lol (when you pro boost only one pellet gets parried and when it hits an enemy the rest get blaster off so overpumping basically does nothing)
Feel like I should clarify why I do this: It's not muscle memory, or just "cause I don't know how it works". Overpump is kinda my fallback, comfort weapon, I like to pull it out when I don't really know what else to do, and if I'm not gonna immediately go pop someone with it, I pump it. Cause why not? If I do then get up in someone's face and just blast em with it, then it's extra damage, if I end up pro-boosting with it, oh well, it's not like I wasted much more than fraction of a second and a right click or two.
