DJI documentation says it warns you and then gives you 30seconds when in flight mode before it shuts off (if temp isn’t reduced). Wouldn’t be flying over water with it.
The installation guidelines for the O3 unit state: In the flight state, there will be a prompt alert after overheating and the video recording will end. At this time, the video transmission will remain connected and the aircraft must return and land within 30 seconds. If the temperature of the internal IC board continues to rise, the protection system will be activated to shut down the air unit automatically.
I’ve been flying it for a week in a 5” in 4K 120 recording on and it’s not too hot when I land since the airflow from flying cools it fine. The video quality is so much better then the vista or og air unit. Def would the upgrade IMO.
I’m not absolutely sure about this but I think the O3 air unit may heat up noticeably less if the goggles have not connected. I noticed this first during setup but have also tested on some flights. My last flight, I was able to get a GPS fix on the first flight with the air unit only getting a little warm. Would be interested in seeing tests to see if I am right about this as it could have just been the cold weather. If this is true then it would make sense to wait on powering up goggles until after a GPS fix has been established.
My take-away from this video is that even with lower power mode enabled, I probably have only around 6-8 minutes to get my O3-equipped drone out of the tree before it starts to cook itself.

My o3 dropped image yesterday... as if it overheated.. I did not see a warning.. or the message like it will auto shutdown. This happend while flying.. but it was thr first time I had recording 4k 60fps on.. So im guessing between a loose contact.. or overheating.. It took a full 2 seconds of no image.. just black.. I did manage to save my quad.. but now I am trying to figure out what happend. Both dvr as on board stopped recording.. so it did shut down complete. But therefor I have no proof of the blackout and the safe.
I'm trying to get some of these stickers like things that are used on rebuilt engines, All it's good for is Max temperature but it would be nice to know after installation and during/after the maiden
Does the cooling openings help more with airflow than the more sealed vista? Would a moving o3 be cooler than a moving vista?? And thoughts on aluminum vtx plate for cooling?
@@combinacijus I forgot the smiley. I lift off before sat fix and come back after 10 seconds to disarm and rearm for set homepoint. I think I can set a switch for midair use of this. Never tried, but I remember something about that. Thanks.
the Cine-80 is a interesting plattform, also the price is in range for hobby and private pilots testing cameras above Gopro like Black Magic Pocket which is entry Level i think in this area. BUT, i think there is a missing link. i remember the days when we had those 10inch systems long time ago with hoovering times around 20 minutes with 3S 2200. :-) i think a AOS 7 will be too small, and the cine 80 will be to heavy for that. are there plans for a size above the AOS 7?
So, the O3 and Airunit are not send in full power, if not armed - so for what is that video? its absolutely useless to know, how a full power, uncooled airunit will need to shutdown ^^

When you arm that’s not a practical test because your about to take off. Resting prearm is the results we need
