One way to use the spyglass when on a flyer I find is to have the flyer point away from the dino you want to spyglass with and you turn around using the spyglass. Flyer view from behind is much better and you have a better field of view looking behind. Even better if you can point your flyer upwards when using the spyglass and then look behind.
