Coming from a small European country ler me tell you that every smaller european nation sees EU membership as something that reinforces our sovereignty and independence. Smaller european nations have always been pushed around by the big powers. Conferences were almost always held by the big States with the smaller ones outside the room being told about their decisions after with no power whatsoever do change that decision. In the EU we are in the room. We can influence and often block those decisions or at the very least arrange for compensation or mitigation of decisions that harm us. Wales and Scotland would be in the same position, instead of just doing what the English tell them to do.

The thing I find amazing is these nationalists who want to leave the UK union where they say they get told what they can and can’t do in that union and then want to join the European Union where they will get told what they can and can’t do if they wanted to be TOTALLY independent then I would get it but not what they want I personally think it’s naïvety

The UK is dying on the vine : Scotland *will* vote for independence within the next five years - demographics strongly suggest that Northern Ireland will join the Republic of Ireland within the next 20/30 years ; as for Wales ? Politically , Wales is in the same position as Scotland was a decade ago .

Cwm Pennant Sheepdogs Your argument is weak. I’m sure 200 years ago there was a lot more Cornish speakers ffs. And how is the ‘English looting’ welsh land any different from the influx of Eastern European migrants as a result of being in the EU; I don’t have a problem with it but your contradicting an argument you’d put out.
And it’s a fact the welsh language has only been revived in the last 50 years look at the statistics .. it wasn’t even till recently the language had to be taught at schools... the language is irrelevant to the Brexit fiasco just accept Wales voted leave a correlation between welsh speakers and the vote is irrelevant.

@K J Your stupid. You have a labour government in the welsh parliament. Heard of devolution? You control most of the powers for your own country : education, transport I could go on, stop moaning and educate yourself

@K J your honestly the most stupid person I’ve ever came across on this app. You clearly don’t keep up with much politics and it’s showing so it’s better you keep your uneducated mouth shut. As you know the Welsh Labour devolved government has many powers, and as you know again the country of Wales voted for Brexit. The welsh voted for brexit :) . Voting for Brexit and the Conservatives wanting it is irrelevant. Labour politicians did too. You seem in denial about the facts, let me remind you again Wales voted Brexit and Has it’s own devolved powers and is happy apart of the U.K. :) xxx

Thankfully, this is a minority movement, and many are unaware of the extreme political heritage of the movement.
For as long as there are extreme far-right Welsh nationalists, there will never be Welsh independence.

Today, nationalists are spraying over English text on road signs - that's not socialist. NO such thing as a socialist nationalism - that I guarantee you. ALL nationalism is, or tends to be right-wing - whether you like it or not. Funny, since the decline of the Welsh language has occurred during the height of Welsh nationalism. Yet, no one seems to realize the correlation.

@@10hourslooney25 Not a Republic like the USA. More like Ireland. The 60s was FWA, they weren't socialist, correct, but their bombings with the MAC were due to the drowning of Capel Celyn and the investiture. The Meibion Glyndŵr burnt down holiday homes in the 70s-90s, but that wasn't to do with freedom fighting, that was in response to the still ongoing housing crisis. The majority of people that want Welsh independence are socialist republicans, or at least left wing. It's a fact.
