Red also signifies passion. That's why Jane starts to wear a red scarf the day after the fire incident with Rochester - her passion/feelings for him were awakened. And Rochester only married Bertha out of sexual passion. The red flag is also used for viewers of this series who didn't read the book, to let them know there is something strange up there.
@Christiaan Baron yes, in the book his father arranged the marriage, but he agreed to it because he found her beautiful and "she allured" him, and "All the men in her circle seemed to admire her and envy me". However, I was talking about the movie which really emphasizes that he agreed to the arranged marriage just because he found her hot and he wasn't thinking with his brain.
@Christiaan Baron I love that you mentioned him saying he was once like her. I feel way too many people don't pay attention to that line and believe that Rochester was always full of corruption and sin, but it was really his marriage that spiraled him to be like that.
Favourites: "He's beauty, he's grace, he's got his wife locked in the attic!" "No wonder he forgot he was already married." "He sings?" cut to "She's a foxy ladyyyy, and I'm a foxy guyyyy" "Jane doesn't get paid enough for this" (i mean c'mon, isn't that just the entire book in a nutshell??) Just the back and forth with Catherine Tate screaming "THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY FRIGGIN LIFE" on top of the most deadpan but still kinda angry face also the end of this version is so pure and adorable that i kinda want to watch it just for that!
Oh myyyy, I loved this video!! I watched Black Sails recently for the first time and obviously now I´m in love with Toby and his damn smile. As I´m working my way through his filmography I just watched this adaption and needed some crack. What better than a video like this with so many references to his other roles! Also oh my gosh about the "She´s never washing that hand again" line -EXACTLY what I was thinking in that moment xD
that’s an EPIC VIDEO!!!! I laughed so hard😂So glad you made it, there are not so many reviews and videos on yt about this adaptation of Jane Eyre. And it’s a pity cause it’s DA BESTTT OF ALL❤️❤️ Toby Stephens is iconic!!
I love this so much!! Are you going to do the 2011 version? Ooh there’s Wuthering Heights too! The 2009 one with Tom Hardy is my absolute favourite. I hope you’ll keep making videos because these are so entertaining 💖
I love Toby Stephens as Rochester and I wasn't a fan of Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre at first tbh, but this series has grown on me and now I actually quite like it. but seriously, It's been 84 years! We need a new adaptation 😂
Hahaha, this is hilarious!!! 😂😂😂 _"I pay you a salary, do I? Well, of course I do."_ This man has the memory span the size of a goldfish. No wonder he forgot he was already married. 😂😂😂 _"Of course I must because you have a wife!"_ What??? _"Blanche Ingram, of course."_ That was a close one, wasn't it, Rochester? WASN'T IT??? 😂😂😂
Some of the clips are from shows in which Toby has starred, including: (1) Black Sails (TV pirate drama, 4 seasons) and promotional interviews for it, and (2) Vexed (BBC TV comedy, 2 seasons). I do love this video. The creator clearly has a sense of humor and a good intellect, loves Victorian shows and Toby Stevens in particular, and has an artistic eye for choosing great clips. She has picked some of the best and cutest "Toby smiles" I've ever seen, and I've seen a few!
Amei essa versão! Vi todas mas essa me enfeitiçou! 😅 Quando ele a chama de bruxa, olha pra ela de modo diferente e desvia o olhar como se quisesse evitar ser denunciado pelo mesmo. Uau! Esses dois são perfeitos. Ela tem mesmo um olhar… ❤
Me, when the scenes from Black sails appeared: *oh i see you are a woman of culture* Me, when the scenes from Much Ado About Nothing appeared: *oh i see you ARE the culture* This video is gold, thank you! P. S. Also I have a question: there were some scenes from the series i didn't recognize, like the one there servant woman tells Jane that she always knew that she'll grow up accomplished, but not very pretty, or the one about potion. This concerns me because i just finished watching and surely remember all that i saw. So tell me please - is there an extended version or smth?
In the streaming version (at least here in the US), there are a lot of scenes that are cut out and that’s one of them. I rewatched it on RUclips and saw all the cut scenes. I’m annoyed that I bought it on Amazon prime and it’s missing so much!
This version is the best adaptationnn. Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson were so iconic in it, love them. Great review, had me rolling!
"What does the red fabric even mean?"
It's the HUGE RED FLAG telling Jane to GTFO, duh

Definitely my favorite of all the versions. When you hit all the stars when he walked into the library I almost spit out my tea. SPOT ON! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤗🤗🤗🤗
FIVE BILLION OUT OF TEN I LOVE THIS ADAPTATION SO MUCH

The "He's beauty" line was a last minute addition. It almost didn't make the cut!

For the question at 2:46 - In the book, Mrs. Fairfax gave Jane a very detailed description of Blanche
This is my favorite Jane Eyre adaptation.
Your video made me laugh so hard. Thank you for sharing it.
I laughed way too hard at this! Very enjoyable! I still love this version with all the inconsistencies! 😊
I enjoy her sense of humor!
I LOVE this adaptation. The only thing that bugs me is that the first part about Jane's childhood was too rushed.
"
Oh That's nice dear." Just in case you thought Charlotte Bronte didn't have a sense of humor.
One of the few RUclips videos I watch over and over LOL

This is my least favorite version of Jane Eyre.
Одна из самых неудачных версий, особенно джейн.
I loved 2006 version of Jane Eyre but this clip of yours just fails to amuse.
👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
This made me smile so hard
