  • On August 23 1962 a Canberra twin-jet military bomber aircraft manufactured by English Electric crash landed in field in Lissybroder just outside the town of Dunmore, County Galway.
The Ecuadorian Air Force plane was one of two flying from Quito in Ecuador to Warton in England for a scheduled service. The three men on board were uninjured.
Local cinematographer the late Jim Finnegan and owner of the Green Cinema in Dunmore was responsible for the footage we now have of the aftermath of this dramatic event.
In time this footage was passed on to another local videographer the late Micheal O’ Liodáin (MOL) who converted it to DVD form and is pride of place in what has come to be known as the MOL collection.
