This song is a "twin" to Flame Trees. Written by Don Walker about his home town of Grafton- the lyrics reference the Copmanhurst rodeo- it also uses the phrase "I'm gonna set fire to this town".
Watched a recent interview with Cold Chisel when they announced their Big 50 tour and apparently this is the song they love to do first when they all get together after a while.
Jimmy tells stories of him as a young teen, catching the train to Adelaide and sneaking in the back doors of the Event Centre, pushing his way to the mosh pit and watching Tina blast her heart out. Yep, she definitely had an influence on him.
Thanks Nic and Dr_Kap. Adding the lyrics in time with the words is no mean feat. This again was from the Germany concert in 1982. Added bonus for Jimmy on the guitar, but Mossy says......hold my beer 😂 Jimmy is a rock God, but with blues and soul 💙 🙌 🎶
Yay thank you Nick for doing my request and for the shout out! If anyone has a video they want cleaned up a bit, or I can take any instrument out of the mix, turn up vocals when they’re drowned out by instrumentals - or make the song acapella, add lyrics, upscale to HD video and high quality audio etc. just give me a shout out on my channel. I’m getting much better content out now that I’ve discovered one of my speakers was actually faulty and so I was overcompensating thinking the distortion was in the audio itself 😂 There’s so many old recordings floating around that just come to life with a bit of (very amateur 😂) editing! Love love this song and Jimmy on guitar too which is not common ! Thanks again ❤
Hey Dr KAP, very specific request but could you make an instrumental version of “northbound train” and an acapella of the live 1977 “Mona and the preacher” by Cold Chisel if you can. I would love that! Keep up the good work
@@viperfanaccount688 i was thinking- if you’re just after the acapella for one song and instrumental for the other, you can do this for free online. They’re called stem files. Normally one would split the song into stems and then work with each separately then re- mix them back together, master, apply effects etc. If you don’t want any remixing, then it’s a simple mechanical “save as” job - just go to fadr website and you can extract your vocal and instrumental files there!
It’s just a total shame that you only get to see jimmy live on RUclips- if only you (singer reactions) could have the privilege to see him once or twice a year performing live in a venue as us Aussies do your life would be complete I think 🤣🤣
Hunter Valley winery Roche Estate NSW Barnsy will be playing with others like living end! Jimmy also going to do a concert on Fremantle prison. Google!
Just when I think this is too Hard Rock for my tastes, Cold Chisel do the most interesting break down and build back up that drags me right into the song. Here I am liking it by the end of the song.
Forget whether he is the best rock singer or not, how good is this band? You gotta check out "Conversations " from the early 70s and see Jimmy and Ian with "Afros". And how could anyone overlook Phil Small's mullet...impressively bad...and the fact that Don Walker never ages. lol

One of my favourite Cold Chisel songs, and the band’s favourite to play
Cold Chisel has re-formed and has gigs in October in Australia
One of my Chisel faves!
One of my favourites. Haven’t heard it for so long. 👍🏻
Fabulous. One of my favorites. 💛
Jimmy is the Rock God bro!! ❤ya work.
beautiful like always, thanks for that matey
Moss is killing it.
Dr KAP does an amazing job resurrecting these.
Great track from a great album (Breakfast at Sweethearts). I still have the vinyl LP I bought in 1979 - and I still play it from time to time.
It's sad that the rest of the world missed out on Chisel and Barnsey.... but many are turning on to them now. Better late than never I guess?🎸🤘
and they deserve the coin.......nice little earners

You're right with the comparison between Jimmy and Tina. They are the king and queen of in your face rock and roll.
Cold Chisel down under amazing band. JBs voice, back vocals and band are definitely up there on my list of ROCK...Peace🔥☝️🤓

Yeah Jimmy is a true Rock singer but don't forget Billy Thorpe his song Mama is a classic!

You need to request it if u want him to do it !
@@Dr_KAP I’m aware of that
@@strongy76 Good-o just sounded like you were making a request on here and I was just trying to point you in the right direction.
@@Dr_KAP all good. I use to request but some never made it through
@@strongy76 oh sorry to hear that. Nick’s usually pretty good if you follow it up with him. Yeh I love that song too and also the Last Frontier!
