    This is super helpful! I've had trouble relearning this song when I used to sing soprano and this really helps

    Thank you so much for this. But can you tell me how this was created as I would like to know which software helps to produce this youtube video.

      Finale is the music editing software. Then I simply do a screen capture using Camstudio (though there are many other screen recording softwares out there) while Finale plays the song back.

      I'm so thankful that this was a blessing for such an important event. I hope it was a blessing for those gathered and may God's peace be with those who need comfort. Thank you for sharing.
(google translate)

    Is it a mistake in bar 39? It writes B"A"G in my score instead of BCG

      Phenylalalanine, thank you for catching that, you are absolutely correct. I'll have to upload a fixed version after I get through my Christmas Music

      It really is a tricky spot. The trick is switching your counting. You have to immediately start counting in 3/8, 1,2,3, 1,2,3 1,2 Our joyful hymn of praise... and resist the urge to count in 1. Or even better read vertically and enter based on the Soprano, which is what a lot of Rutter's music assumes, the layering of parts in the rubato endings should be sung listening to and playing off of each other's entrances rather than just strictly counting. Glad this could be of some help.

      that os cemetery frustrating, isn't it ? Soprano I learn so easy then my director put me in Alto! For so many songs I sing perfectly in soprano ~ each season in Alto I can't 100% learn the Alto rythyms for a few measures!

    Why would you make the altos go up to a high G in the beginning?

    • @DisciplesChorus
      @DisciplesChorus  6 лет назад +2

      Seth, good comment. Actually, the music denotes only Sopranos to sing the beginning phrase, so you are correct it is an error on my part to include the altos there and should not be considered as part of the original composition. For my very small choir I had no choice but to include altos but those who couldn't do it dropped it. Good catch!

      DisciplesChorus but can any of them hit it?

    • @DisciplesChorus
      @DisciplesChorus  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, you're absolutely correct they could not. But having them sing the whole line and then falsetto out the G was enough to support the line, without it, it was too bare--such was the size of my choir... my children's choir is a totally different story, there soprano, alto are arbitrary terms, they all have about the same range till their voices change and so it's easy to interchange as necessary but that's a whole different point.

      I don't know. I've seen some arrangers ask the Basses to go up to an F on a rare occasion.
      What's good for the gander..😁
      More seriously, as a director, my rule would be that if any 1st Altos that feel comfortable doing so, they would be welcome to join the Sopranos, if they'd like. Not all Altos have the range of Bea Arthur, you know.
