This is one of those moments when you thank God and RUclips algorithm for finding something worthy and beautiful to watch to. I just want to give a big THANK YOU for this arrangement!
Thanks for watching, Jose. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Listening to this in 2023. Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring performance.
Kind regards from the Netherlands
This was one of my favorite songs we did in high school choir and it still almost moves me to tears. Music is so powerful I can’t even explain it.
This is such an exquisite rendition of this piece. The musicianship is so sincere and full of love for their craft. Applause to all 5 performers.
Thank you for watching and for your kind comments, Trevor!
Angelic voices singing a song of positivity amidst a world afflicted by a pandemic.
a pandemic of manipulation
Gorgeous version of this amazing song!!!
My fav song.. I remember first heard it on my sister's choir competition in elementary school.. Now i'm at the end of my college semester working on my thesis.. This music helps me to calm down and remind me of God's blessing through out my life
Love Rutter’s version of this hymn and these four singers (and pianist) do it beautifully. The bearded guy doesn’t look too happy though.
I kinda look like I’ve been kidnapped, I think 😀. But I liked the audio take so I kept it. 🤷🏼♂️
@@brianpappal sorry, my comment looks a bit rude now that I look back on it. I didn’t intend any offence. I have the same issue when I sing: I’m focusing hard on getting it right and forget to do the smiley thing.
@@nickbaxter8797 thanks for that, but I wasn’t offended at all. I have the same thought every time I watch it, but it is as it lives now 😀. Next time I’ll try to look less grumpy. Thanks for watching!
That's what I thought about the bearded guy as well!!
@@brianpappal Well, you kind of were kidnapped...by the pandemic. But this was beautiful. When I watch again, I will not think of you as grumpy :)
This is one of the most beautiful worship songs ever written.

John's "Kalinka Song"...
This is a beautiful arrangement -= thank you. I wonder if you might give me permission to use it in our Sunday on-line worship one week?
Paul (St Matthias in Torquay)
Hi Paul. Feel free to use it. Thanks for asking.

Makasih!

The alto ???
❤❤❤❤ you can make cantique de jean Racine.
The original song says "Friends on earth, and Friend above."
Not "friends on earth and friends above."
Hi Jan. Thanks for watching and commenting. You've piqued my curiosity. We recorded the text as the composer John Rutter set it. Your comment made me think that maybe Rutter altered the hymn text to allow for a more universal meaning. After perusing about 20 different hymnal settings published over the last 100 years, I can't find a single one that lists the text as you describe it, nor can I find anything online. Can you share your source for the original text as published by Pierpoint? I'd be curious to know what other revisions, if any, have happened to the text over the years. Thanks in advance!
@@brianpappal i mean no disrespect in my comment.
Pierpoint's "Friend above" version pertains about Jesus.
While Rutter's "friends above" version pertains about dead friends which believed mostly by Roman Catholics. That when a person dies, his soul goes to hell, purgatory, or heaven.
different arrangement
Out of curiosity, what is the belief, what faith do you all hold? I ask this, because the bible does not say anywhere that women use lipstick, etc ... On the contrary, her head should be covered when she does a job, especially since her hair is cut and dyed. 1 Corinthians 11: 5, 6, 13, 15
Just enjoy the músic
Dreadful with all that vibrato and sung like on a funeral..
