I swear by the One Size!! I work 12 hour shifts in hospital and when I wear a mask, there is minimal transfer. I am 57 and have dry skin and don't find this drying. I also use very hydrating skin care and somewhat glowy foundation. But I LOVE IT!!

Hyaluronic acid is in almost every skincare product I use. I had to stop using a separate hyaluronic acid serum. BUT, I then discovered The Ordinary's Amino Acid serum. Now that one is a game changer!! I've been using it for many years now, and I will never be without it. This product adds hydration below the top layer of skin, and aids is repairing the skin barrier making the skin more supple!

@@stephaniejoobern1001 Yes! And too much HA can cause skin issues. Most people don't need a dedicated HA serum. I follow the amino acids with the Cerave toner, applied like an essence product. That way I know I'm getting ceramides, which also help with the skin barrier and hydration!

I am an avid lover of manta sleep masks! I have the original, the cool one and the new sound one. I only use the sound one now because I love listening to audible whilst I float off to sleep. They are the most comfortable sleep masks I’ve ever used and an absolute must for night shift workers 🥳🥳 I want to try the aromatherapy one and the weighted one next!!

I also love their masks and have all but the sound one (I prefer just my fan and air purifier, personally). Honestly, while I love weighted masks, I wasn't that into the manta one. It's very secure, but because it has the cups, you don't get the pressure you'd want from a weighted eye mask, imo. The aromatherapy dots are great, but they aren't something I've repurchased. I just dab a bit of my own essential oils onto the dot to "renew" it. It's nice, but they're nothing special. You could just put essential oils on the band (I put it over the eyes, but on the bands, no cups, so the oils don't touch my overly sensitive skin) and it works the exact same.

Don't wet your face before using products because you're diluting active ingredients, and those are what you're paying for. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1000x its weight in moisture. It helps with TEWL. Also, if products aren't sinking in and just sitting on top of the skin, it might mean you're over moisturizing, which can lead to breakouts. I've been an esthetician for 8 years.

I love the manta mask so much! Got it not too long ago after seeing in in the comments of your videos. I can't sleep if there's any light but I'd never found a mask I'd liked before the manta because I can't stand the pressure on my eyes. I've used it every day since I got it and will defiantly replace it if I need to. I think I'll get the pro next time because the original can be a little weird since I sleep on similarly to the way you said.

Or I push the pillow up a bit. It's hard to explain, but I totally see where you're coming from in that regards!

I've used the Manta sleep masks for years. I just recently upgraded to the pro, as well, and I love it! I have ever version except the headphone one (I don't like music or anything while I sleep, so not for me personally) and I'd highly recommend! They wash well and last for years. For real, my original one had to be replaced only vecause the velcro eventually stopped sticking, and I used it religiously. Can't live without them!

@@blaireshoe8738 I wouldn't think terribly hard if you have some basic sewing skills. It looks like you could easily seam rip the old velcro out and sew a new strip on no problem. I'm sure it wouldn't look as nice, but it'd still be functional, for sure. I think it took like 5 years of (nearly daily) use before I even got to that point, so all in all, I'm pretty happy, and this is a brand I'll continue to support.. although I'm probably good for another couple years after my recent order lol

I had your same issue with the Manta mask; the eye cups dug into my face and made my sleep impossible. And also that blackout seal around my eyes just made my eyes unbearably hot. However, I ended up taking out the eye cups entirely and pretending like it was a regular sleep mask and that worked great for me. So, to each their own, I guess.

I don't know if the model you got has stiffer cups than the classic, but I'm also an eye-socket sleeper and it doesn't bother me much. Mine is also a couple of years old now, so the cups have softened up. Maybe Chris can break this one in and then hand it down to Rachel. I love that it's COMPLETELY black out. Like, one time I got up in the middle of the night and discovered that I'd left my bedside reading lamp on the entire night, totally oblivious because the mask blocked out the light so well.

I feel exactly the same way as you about the mantra sleep mask. I was so excited for it but sadly it didn’t work cause I like the feeling if something on my eyes and I also Felt like when I tried to sleep on my side it put pressure around my eye socket.

Hey, I’m a beauty therapist and just thought I’d let you know that your thought and opinion on hyaluronic acid is right ( being a humectant it attracts moisture unless it’s very hot then it can take away moisture from your skin) you should be applying a very little amount and just pressing it into the skin and leave to absorb… with serums you shouldn’t be rubbing into your skin just press them into your skin☺️

I like to cleanse my face with witch hazel on a cotton pad. Then while my face is still moist from the witch hazel, I like to apply some hyaluronic acid serum. And then I rubbed that in completely. Then I apply moisturizer to my face that also contains hyaluronic acid. So my face is super moisturised and it feels amazing. My skin has never looked better since I've been using hyaluronic acid. I get the serum from the Dollar Tree. It's made by a company called abi. It's unscented and it's a clear gel type. The moisturizer that I use on my face afterwards also contains hyaluronic acid and it's made by Neutrogena. It's actually for the body but I use it on my face because it's unscented. The formula that they make for the face has a scent and I'm allergic to scented products. So I use Neutrogena hydro boost body gel cream. I want to add that it took awhile for me to get positive results with using both hyaluronic acid products. So you should at least give a new product 30 days to see if there's any improvement. My skin got better over time. It didn't happen overnight

I really like it! ive used it for about a month and it really helps to sooth my irritated eczema. only down side is that its not a lot of product so if you have a lot of eczema spots, it'll be used up fast

I’m sorry you didn’t have the best experience with the Manta Pro mask; I have both the OG (+ deeper eye cups) & the Pro, and I like to interchange between the two based on my sleep preferences that day/night. I love them both (paired with my loop earplugs). Can’t live without them. Hate how expensive they are but it’s worth it. I also keep both straps on each mask secured with a safety pin.
I also sometimes don’t like my eyes not being smushed against my eyes - I get what you’re saying. I often use weighted sleeping masks for that and they’re the best. Manta also makes a weighted version.

Rachel, use the La Roche Posay serum on damp skin! Hyaluronic acid works best when it has water to bring into the skin. If you do it on dry skin you risk it pulling water from deeper in your skin, so it could be drying.

    • @momma2thewilds88
      @momma2thewilds88 9 месяцев назад +2

The company says to not have damp skin (from water) under it. Which is the opposite of what most do with that type of product.

It's not true. That myth. Watch any chemist they will tell hyaluronic acid don't need water on skin to work

Licensed esthetician here! 100% agree with @sarahvaughn3116
Hyaluronic acid holds up to 1000x its weight in water. You definitely want to be adding that water with damp hands rather than taking from within. If you put it on dry skin it won’t hurt, but your skin won’t benefit nearly as much.
