This movie came so close to the conversations I have in my own head too it’s actually kind of bewildering. The thing about the thoughts of the other characters around Jake still being audible and sometimes mixed up and confused makes sense since I often think about what others are thinking.
Definitely got me crying and hoping that there is kindness in the world, or if not that it’s within us. Jake is a lovely person that I can relate to.

I think psychological films like this can be "chilling" and "spine tingling" until you realise that all the film's devices are being used to convey deep psychological narratives, then it becomes a pure work of art, the chills and fear-factor just transform into the shear ecstasy of bearing witness to genius film-making. Now Time seems to have speeded up so profoundly and the years are flying by and life is just continual day after day trying to stay on top of the tasks and problems that keep flying in and you’re just getting more and more behind no matter how hard you try! Jamie Dailey depending on age it just gets more somber and melancholic. For the ones in their 20-40s I can see it playing out as a horror movie for them especially. For the older ones, they start progressing towards senility and are prolly already done with pondering over the same questions repeatedly. They perhaps know everything’s a trap, there are no answers and one can live or survive anyhow. Ultimately nothing really matters.

And his own brutally honest introduction to the Being John Malkovich screenplay book revealed a writer who wrestled with crushing depression even back in the 90s. Even when he was writing some of the best films of all time. As someone who knows depression myself, I can imagine that the idea of "ending things" might be something he's contemplated more than once.
