- I'm a little bit better at this game compared to the last one.
Reimu has some uninvited guests. In a ruthless maneuver of Moriya scare tactics, a newcomer threatens Hakurei shrine with inevitable takeover. Who does she think she is? In order to find out, Reimu must climb the Mountain of... well, y'know. In this 10th entry in the Touhou Project, Gensokyo gets a bit more crowded!

Sanae, who is a minor deity in her own right, would like to object to that second number.
Sanae didn't ascend to demigodhood due to faith. She's part-god by Birth. She is a descendant of Suwako. The faith just awakened her god-side in her blood already and her ability to invoke miracles. When Sanae's life ends, she could ascend to full Godhood if she has enough faith. Also; Suwako is therefor LITERALLY family for Sanae. [Albeit like great; great; great; great ect grandmother]. This also makes Suwako one of few confirmed mothers in the series.
And yeah; "selfish" defines Kanako. Every action she ever takes is ultimately selfish.
Man, I can't wait for more of this series, it is by far the best introduction to the games I've seen yet. Such a good onboarding vehicle for new touhou fans like me. Thank you for your work!

I like some fan ideas that Sanae actually had to struggle a lot with coming to terms with going to Gensokyo, she basically had to leave her life, and everything she knows behind, and she struggled a lot with being In gensokyo as seen in the games, she only really properly feels more at home by the time of LoLK
Idk, shes just a very interesting character, and it helps that her theme is a very melancholic rock song, with even a quiet moment that pitches down the main melody and tempo
Anyways, amazing job with these videos, theyre very well researched and its nice seeing these surprisingly deep plots put in a more digestible and fun format, looking forward to seeing more of these, hopefully you lightly cover some of the fighting games too, seeing as SWR, HM, and especially ULiL come into being important to the main game plots

With the Memory Phantasm fan anime version of Mountain of Faith, I thought Mountain of Faith, story wise, is almost “Pizza Tower with Touhou Characters”. 😅

I remember watching a cute animation depicting Sanae's origins and the Moriya Shrine family. It basically went like this
Sanae's parents died and left an orphan mourning their deaths, Kanako stumbles upon her and decides to take her home so she can be sheltered from the rain. There she's introduced to Suwako and despite the latter's words, little Sanae is convinced that they're her new mamas.
It's a pretty sweet tale. I have it in my own headcanon.
OUGH as someone whose building a cospaly for FLan, these videos are a lifesaver! PLEASE never stop making them! I swear your videos are the only way i can consume touhou lore and understand it, good job!

I just want to thank you for your work, I love these videos, you are really underrated. SA is hard as fuck though so maybe you will have a new video out by the time I manage to clear it.

Kinda interesting how the role of 'master manipulator/schemer/planner' has been passed down. Yukari->Kanako->Okina?. Sure I'm missing some, will be interested if Tsukasa plays a prominent role moving forward. Would be interesting to see more interactions between these types. Glad Kanako made a resurgence in 17.5. Feel Kanako's presence is underfelt by the community, glad this series will shed some light.

The MoF Marisa Portrait is the only Touhou art that feels "professional", whatever that means. Though my favorite character portrait is probably that one Chen sprite.

I think that MoF has my favorite character art overall. PCB and IN come close, but it looks more clean here and it still has that unique hand made style of ZUN.

Aya for some reason gives me the impression that she is still stuck in the 30's (Because of the Solo Piano segment from the Eastern World theme in Stb.)
Sanae somehow gives me the vibe of a city girl trying to be like one of her Manga Hero's, while the others just want to resolve a Incidient, she seems like the one taunting her opponents or giving a Cheesy One-liner whenever the Opportunity gets to her.
Also for some reason it feels more like Kanako being Sanae's Father Role, while Suwako is Sanae's Mother Role.
Rinnousuke definitely ikes to collect outside world artifacts at Kourindo, and with Nitori's engineering skills, I bet the two were bound to become pals at some point or another :)

Ive been holding on watching this video until i beat MoF and i finally did it after a month! Kanako was the hardest stage 6 boss so far. She definitely earns her title.
Also Aya has my favourite portraits in this game, she just looks so gangsta in it.
