    Who knew that Costco would honor a warranty like that! WOW. Like you say, most big box stores wash their hands of you if something goes wrong. I've seen these Firman brands and haven't been in the market for a small one but if ever in the future, I'll look at Costco. Comprehensive advice here for those looking to get themselves a generator. Have a good weekend, Steve!

    You have got to be kidding! Read a manual! What's up with that? I am a full-blooded American male! Are you trying to insult your neighbor from America? Great information, Steve. Reading a manual on power tools or mechanical equipment is a must! Now directions on assembly might be another thing. Males don't need an assembly manual! LOL!
    Thanks Steve!

    I have a 7000 watt predator generator that isn't inverter type. I have used it when ever the electricity goes off for close to 10 years with no problem. Use it to run everything within its capacity. Computer, smart TV, electric stove, water pump, furnace, lights. Everything in the house without problems. The only thing it has trouble running is a 5 horse air compressor. not because the generator isn't inverter type. It is because it takes so much power to start at 120 volts. Probably would do it if I switched it over to 240 volts. I would advise getting one that has a voltage regulator. Unregulated generators have a greater voltage drop under load. The weakest link in inverter generators is the inverter. When the inverter fails it is so expensive to replace the inverter, in most cases it is cheaper to replace the generator.

      I have the same one I purchased in 2016. We have only used it in earnest a few times. However I test run it every 3-months or so. So far so good.

    Great information
    I've bought a couple of cheap generators and usually do is get the first 25 hour break in period out of road. Run it for the weekend with a load on it do the oil change and then the next weekend repeat the process. If it's gonna have a issues it'll be in the first 25-30 hours of operation. Plus this way you get the break in period out the road and don't forget to change the oil

    How's she goin'? You make some good points here Steve. Costco is a great place for returns. I have never been questioned when returning items there. Inverter generators are the 'only' way to go these days!! And reading the manual, especially for something like the generator that will help you in an emergency, is always a good plan!! Take 'er easy!!

    Make sure it's a brand, that you can get parts for. I've run into some brands, where I couldn't even get a replacement air filter! What if you need a new ignition coil, voltage regulator, or a pull-starter assembly? Do you just consider the generator "disposable"?

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  2 месяца назад

      I always buy well known brands that have been around a long time for parts and service , if not you can expect to be buying a disposable and not a serviceable item.
