I am so excited about this brilliant documentary. I feel like Guy Clark is more comparable to Dylan Thomas or T.S. Eliot… he had such a literary mind, hence his brilliant song writing. I saw the film last week. I thought it was very well done. The narration part was genius. I’ve been a fan of Guy Clark since Jerry Jeff recorded Viva Terilingua when I was a junior in high school. As a 35 year Austin resident, I have known some people who knew Guy and Townes very well, but I learned so much I didn’t know from the film, especially about Susanna.
Guy was and is my favorite songwriter. I enjoyed this presentation immensely. I don't know if this is the proper format to ask but, I was wondering when the movie will be released. "Progressive" country was basically folkies writing in a literary style & adding rock and roll chord structures & licks to the country genre. I once dropped the term in the presence of Dave Brubeck, prompting him to ask, ironically: "Is there a retarded country?"
