How do you go from viewfinder, to starting your first lines on the canvas?
In other words, how do you retain the "perfect view" that you decided on, when you went for your walk? Do you hold up the view finder with one hand, and take a picture of the scene thru the finder, with your camera on your phone, with your other hand?
And would that imply that you need to hold your camera perfectly in line with the viewfinder, since the camera lense is going to have a different perspective of what it captures thru the viewfinder, than your own eyeball?
Or do you peer thru the view finder with one hand, and sketch immediately with other? (but obviously if you're standing, you won't be able to sketch because if one hand is holding up the view finder, there's no one to hold your notepad up for you to sketch! And if you sit down to sketch, you just lost the view!
Confused.
How exactly to you save your view once you've decided?
I hold the viewfinder up and look through it while I sketch in the underpainting :)
If you hold it out at arms length it's easier to find the shot again and I would use it to make a real small sketch as a reference for a bigger one
That was very nice, I would have loved to do something like this if I would have found myself when I was younger, you seem to be a kindred spirit. Loved it.
