    Dear Tara, I am noticing your vlog output rate is increasing. I am amazed. Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to each of your vlogs. Thank you for each one of them. By the way, I have written a PhD by publication. From my viewpoint, there are two challenges: Compressing much research into short articles + integrating the articles through the introduction and overall discussion / conclusion. Please note that I had not done any publication before deciding to do a PhD by publication. In other words, all of the publications were tailored to the dissertation as a whole; they were not selected from an existing body of work, but were created for the dissertation specifically. Kind regards - Sascha Grusche

      Hi Sascha - lovely to hear from you! Sascha - when I am away I try and use the environments I am in - you won't hear from me for several weeks after this when I'm back in Australia :) Sascha - you did a PhD by publication - that is publications on the way through the enrolment. That is a different enrolment -and degree - from the PhD by prior publication. The PhD by publication also has some significant challenges and issues, particularly in the year after the candidature concludes. So the PhD by publication and the PhD by prior publication are very different modes of PhD. Different students. Different mode of examination. Different mode of presentation. Well done to you for raising those differences! Txxx

      Dear Tara, yes, I was not aware of that subtle difference in definition. In Germany, it is simply called publication-based dissertation; which seems to include both PhD by publication and PhD by prior publication :) Best regards - Sascha Grusche

    very interesting and through-provoking indeed. I have been offered admission into PhD by publication method.
    So first I need to submit two manuscripts for acceptance into a peer-reviewed / refereed journal having a high impact score, and later the university wants me to convert the journal articles into a thesis, and defend the findings again use an oral exam which is viva-voce.

    As a new student trying to do a PhD by prior publication, thank you so much for this video, your advices are priceless! May I ask you what in your opinion distinguishes a review being accepted as a publication from one not accepted? Or do you think that it just shouldn't be accepted at all ?

    Hello, i am teaching here at a University in Estonia and i have been doing research on refugees in Estonia and i got five articles published on the similar topic and i am the author of these articles and they are all published on good Journals. I have also written a synthesis ( contextual statement to combine my articles). Will it be possible for me to apply? Would you mind letting me know that?

      Hi Aminul - you are an ideal candidate for this mode of PhD. Yes - that's a strong application. A supervisor would help you with that contextual statement - but yes - great project and it is nested well! txxx

    Great video...I already got one PhD from a university and now the PhD work has been published in 10 plus articles/chapters. Can I use these interrelated articles/chapters (sharing the same theme) to do another PhD degree by publication at another university?

    I dropped out of an undergraduate degree and wrote a book which is published by an academic publisher.
    My undergraduate course was in engineering and my book pertains to psychology.
    Could I apply for PhD by publication?

    Awesome insight into PhD by publication, what if I am working on a DBA, but my publication is on a different areas from my DBA thesis, does that allow me to qualify for PhD by publication.

    • @TaraBrabazonLegacyContent
      @TaraBrabazonLegacyContent  3 года назад +1

      Daniel - students have completed a PhD - or a DBA or other doctorate - and then enrolled in a PPP. The key point is this. The PPP articles and / or book/s must not have been submitted for any other degree. So if the PPP articles cluster and were not submitted for another degree - you've got it... :) txxx

    If one is a PhD candidate who one year after having submitted a complete first draft of their dissertation is getting no feedback from their supervisors is this an alternative? Can one publish their manuscript and then seek to get a PhD by publication?

    • @TaraBrabazonLegacyContent
      @TaraBrabazonLegacyContent  4 года назад

      Hi Cameron - you have lots of options mate. One of them is the transfer of your PhD to another University. I did a later vlog on 'transfer.' I think that would be faster and easier than withdrawing from the programme, trying to publish articles as quickly as possible, and then returning. Take care of yourself! txxx

      @@TaraBrabazonLegacyContent Thanks Tara, after much frustrating silence and waiting (and prodding from my end) I finally started getting feedback. I successfully defended my dissertation in February and I'm working on publishing it.
