  • In August 2016, 22-year-old professional flat track racer Dominic Colindres was paralyzed from the heart down when he crashed landing off the jump at the famed Peoria TT in Peoria, Illinois. Here's an interview of Dom at his parent's home in San Francisco, nine months after his life-changing crash.

I'll never understand how his crash paralyzed him. It was quite a tame impact, I've seen many flat track racers and MX riders land much harder and in much more unnatural positions. It's like there was a small rock and that got a soft spot or some weird shit along those lines. Such an unlucky guy...
If I was him I'd try to go for the paralympics. He's 22, he's an athlete, he should check out a couple of sports and maybe he could become an Olympic champion in handbike, wheelchair racing, swimming... I'm sure he would still enjoy some competition even if it's different.

Hi Dom. I knew you weren't feeling well when the weekly updates stopped and have been kinda worried about you since. Nice to see you out getting some sun. We'll stay in touch - I'm off to find your FB page. Glad you're hanging in.
