Join me on my adventure through Tolkien’s Middle Earth as I build a guitar inspired by The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
"My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!"
"Never laugh at live dragons, Bilbo you fool!"

Loving the pyrography of the dragon on the cavity cover, so great to see so many different techniques and details executed so well 😀
Thanks! There were a few firsts on this one - luckily they all went to plan. 👍
I loved the T-shirt taping, you sir, are genius😂
Thanks! It was barely noticeable right? 😂
Dang, you sure make great videos. You make great guitars, also, but your videos are always among the most entertaining and well crafted of the ones that I see. Kudos
Thanks Gus! 👍
Good decision on the carving:)
I definitely made the right choice. 👍
I spoke to Treebeard (he now lives in Oregon); he agrees about the beauty of the wood and he should know.
He definitely ‘wood’ know.
That top looks like somewhere you'd dispose of a magic ring! Fiery and radiating out from the middle. I can understand why you'd leave it unadulterated!
I couldn’t bring myself to carve it on the front!
Loved the "on the fly" shirt adjustment to match decor choice version 2.0! Kudos for keeping the theme running through the build, and good luck bringing it to the finish line.
Thanks David. It’s been fun playing around with the theme! 👍
If all compromises would end this well, none would ever complain. The guitar top on its own spoke volumes, and the bit of you that us entish heeded it. Superb!
Thanks, it was definitely the right choice! 👍
I do love that you are using the illustrations from the books. I wholeheartedly agree with you on placement. Before you spoke I in same second went “oh cool” and don’t mess up that top! I would love to buy a shirt. One more thing. I look forward to your videos. The production is as good as the build.
Thanks Lisa! It was the right decision to do it this way. There is a link to teespring in the video description if you would like a t-shirt! 👍
Oh, epic. Such ingenuity and creativity. Such a flair for design and showmanship. I’m running out of words to describe how impressed I am.
Thanks Andrew. I really appreciate all the words you have used!
I was so happy when you said "I just can't bring myself to cover up this top with a big carving." 😎
I was very relieved making that decision. 👍
As a lifelong Tolkien fan I have to say its just Perfection! Massive respect. Imagination , video footage and skill is a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to the final vid.
Thanks Paul, very kind of you to say. 👍👍
As always, amazing work, my friend. Aboslutely amazing. Cna't wait for the final installment.
Thanks Cade! I’ve got everything crossed that it turns out the way I have planned!
Another entertaining instalment as always. Looking forward to the final unveiling. Best of luck in the competition.
Thanks Tim, not too long to wait now.
Arran.'this is a dragon'
Ray, 'no, this is a dragon!'
Fur, skin and bloody mess ensue.
Nice guitar by the way
Thanks Jurgen! Ray’s dragon is certainly impressive. I’m looking forward to seeing his guitar finished.
its going to be epic!
Thanks!
GGBO winers
Truly awesome. Love it being on the cover too. Congrats!
Thanks John!
Another great video as always keep up the good work👍👍👍👍
Jaydos! Thanks for watching! 👍
So friggin great man. Seriously.
Thanks Tye! 👍
Stunning ❤️
Cheers! 👍
great choice to put the carve on the back
I realised months ago that it was probably the best option, but I was still thinking about it up until the final moment!
@@adairguitars Well I totally support anyone that carves on the back... cos it validates me having to do it last year after a router mishap... tastefully done and a lot more deliberate than my effort!
That was a great recovery of yours last year!
@@adairguitars thank you, lady luck was certainly on my side, became some peoples favourite bit lololol... Yours is class and really ties it all together
I'm so glad you chose to put the Dragon on the cavity cover. I wouldn't have minded you having the Elvin script on the front as you designed it to be if carved in but the dragon looks smaller and on the control plate cover. On the front it would have been a bit too busy. O liked the ring inlay you put in below the dragon's body to indicate the treasure he is laying on. Nice touch. Also a nice touch with the tube through the top with the red light centered under it. Cool touch.
Thanks Robert. It’s definitely a bit more subtle this way, which allows the guitar top to shine.
RUclips needs more Like buttons, because only one is not enough for this awesome build video series!
Let’s see, I think RUclips needs…
Three Like buttons for the 7-ELEVEn Ding-Dongs under the sky,
Seven Like buttons for the Dwarves in their halls of stoners,
Nine Like buttons for mortal men doomed to watch RUclips until they die, and
One Like button for Arran, the Dark Lord on his dark throne;
In the land of RUclips, where the content lies.
One Like button to rule them all, one Like button to find them,
One Like button to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them;
In the Land of RUclips where the content lies.
Keep doing what you’re doing, Arran, because it’s awesome and you’ll soon rule the RUclips. :-)
Thanks Chris, nice comments! Unfortunately I can only like your comment once as well.
Hoping you replace the control plate mounting screws with flush mount or oval heads. As a player, I would not want to have the round heads or pan heads tops snagging on clothing.
The screws I used are pickguard screws. I need to get the right sized counter sink bit still to get them flush. 👍
What is that red timber?
It’s Red Rosewood (Amboyna) 👍
Hmm...the Head of the Dragon looks like a Duck oO
I will say, all other Parts of this Project looks like fantastic and so,but ... this Head...grrr
I used Tolkien’s original design, difficult to do on a small scale. Glad you like the other parts though!
According to JRRT, some dragons were called Firedrakes…
I’ve always preferred Tolkien‘s drawings, engravings & his designs to any other illustrator.
Great work Aaron 👍👏👏👏✌️
Thanks Dave. I love all of his artwork that he created as well.
@@adairguitars Yes, that's right, you're sticking with the original, but the dragon looks kind of, I don't know, not as perfect as the other "specials".
@@adairguitars ake a look at the whole thing again in a few days to see if it should be and stay the same way. Otherwise it's also a project that I like to follow and I think all these details are great (except for this Duck-Dragon) :-)
