I’ve slowly collected the ones I feel are most useful for guitar building, and these are a good combination. They are definitely getting closer to being finished now!
Awesome work as always Arran, I really admire the precision in your builds. Theres simply no substitute for those Iwasaki files if you want perfectly clean carves! 👍
Both look fantastic - the black veneer is a classy touch. For the HS guitar, maybe a 4 way Tele switch, to give split bridge and neck as an extra tone???
Cheers Arran - I've posted my scheme on the Guitar Wiring Space on GBC. Interestingly, it doesn't provide for the full humbucker and Single Coil together.
Awesome carves Arran. wood choices are also interesting the black veneer in between really sets them off AND super defines the carve lines. Its a great accent. What color choices are planned?
Thanks! Yeah, the black veneer really helps to distinguish between the two timbers. Planning to have both natural, although I am slightly tempted to put some colour on the two pickup guitar. Might have to do some testing on offcuts.
I could certainly do it that way too. Just a habit doing it this way. I like the cavity just deep enough for the controls and don’t want the figured tops too thin I suppose.
I always measure the exact scale length for where I want the high e string saddle to be, and then work out the bridge holes according depending on the type of bridge I’m using.
@@saulgoodeguitars hopefully the blackbutt will turn out nice. It’s a real pain to work with as I’m sure you discovered too. Just kept clogging up the iwasaki files. Got a few more jobs done today on them, so I’m up to sanding now.
The use of different woods in the design, works well on all these builds. Also, I smile when I see the fancy Triton router
It’s definitely a beast of a machine and I’m very lucky to have it!
Blues music and expert guitar building. Not a bad way to spend my morning coffee at all!
Thanks Cade. Always a good combination!
Excellent Saturday night viewing.
Good timing then!
You mean, excellent Saturday morning viewing. Sun is coming up, in Oregon✌
The earth just loves to rotate. :)@@cubfanmike
Some meticulous rasp work going on there with those champhers. That was relaxing to watch.
Thanks Chris. It was relaxing to do as well!
I'm back in Arran! These are looking really good, too. Can't wait to see them - and hear them!
Excellent news! Up to sanding on both of them now. Just have to push through this stage!
I'm very jealous of your Rasp collection! They were put to very good use too. Looking forward to the finished guitars

Brilliant work as ever. These are looking fabulous
Thanks Graham. 👍

Thanks Gio. The iwasaki files are so much fun to use!
They are looking very good!
Thanks Dane, they are getting close to being finished now!
Both of those guitars are just superb brother. The masking tape on the lines is really a great way to do the carves! ✌️🤍
Thanks Todd. The tape certainly helps to keep a straight line around the edge of the body. 👍
@@adairguitars I use that same method for neck carving which I picked up from Gio. I'm going to start marking my body carves now too!!😀✌️

Thanks, that would be a good idea for a 4 way switch.

@@SimonCustomGuitarscool, will check it out. 👍
Anyone brave enough to take a grinding tool to a guitar is alright by me 😅 Both are looking amazing already!
I like the irony of using a fine iwasaki file on the front before taking to the back with an angle grinder. 😂

Is there a specific reason why you don't just cut out the cavity before glueing on the top?
I could certainly do it that way too. Just a habit doing it this way. I like the cavity just deep enough for the controls and don’t want the figured tops too thin I suppose.
I have a question.. do you drill your bridge holes exactly at the scale line of slightly before or after?
I always measure the exact scale length for where I want the high e string saddle to be, and then work out the bridge holes according depending on the type of bridge I’m using.
Already know this will be good, well it better be, clicked off a Fletcher video 🤣
😂 I’m channeling my inner Corey in this one with some timelapse.
@@adairguitarscarves look great and that blackbutt looks so different to its sibling, can’t wait to see them under finish

@@adairguitars yeah blackbutt is a pain
I’m glad to be done with it
