  • Moza Racing has done it again. They have released a new steering wheel for the entire Moza Racing Eco System. This time it is like no other wheel on the market. Its the TSW Wheel. A purpose built truck sim steering wheel. It is gigantic coming in at almost 16 inches wide and the biggest wheel I have ever used in sim.
During this review Shaun tells you everythign that you need to know about this wheel. He also introduces the new truck wheel base mount offering a better wheel mount position for trucking.
On top of that he announces the new Windshield Wiper Stalk - This is yet another first in sim racing and a long overdue component.

I bought a set of wiper/indicator stalks from a company called obokidly off ebay. The indicators are self cancel, comes with an optional start button, cruise control stalk (in my case retarder brake), cover and comes with fittings for both Logitech and thrustmaster wheels. It is a well built kit and after honing a little aluminium off the back of a wheel from a Volvo XC90, a few micro switches, thin wire, led bulbs, a touch of magic, but substitute the wand for a soldering iron, bish bash bosh having Volvo written on the wheel makes it feel more like I am driving a Globetrotter, and yes the buttons on the wheel add to the illusion. These expensive wheels that have pin point accuracy are completely pointless if you don't play game's which require that pin point accuracy like ats, ets2 and bus sim. Wheels from Logitech and Thrustmaster are perfect without costing a stupid amount and because these cheaper wheels are so popular, it means there are more accessories like the indicator/wiper stalks or shifter knobs from Almar skrs or Eton fuller. I am surprised it has taken a wheel manufacturer this long to notice the millions of truckers both ets2 and ats have and the potential niche in the market for a wheel of this calibre. The biggest put off for me is the price. £459 for the cheapest R5 bundle, then add the £299 for the truck wheel and although you can buy a clutch pedal for £39 there is no shifter and I like driving my 12+2 gearbox. The logitech G27 is still the go to wheel for me. Why the G27 and not a modern equivalent? The G27 has 6 buttons + 2 paddle buttons which are easy to replace with the buttons from the volvo wheel. Work smarter not harder.

As someone who helps to sell buses: A wheel like this can be very ergonomic, you just have to feed it into the turn from the bottom. If you do this you can adjust your seat in such a way that you don't have to pull your shoulders from the backrest. If you can keep your shoulders in the seat backrest, it's very comfortable, just like a normal sim wheel.

Can you spring for the R9? I don't know that it would be necessary, but what I can tell you is that people who have used the Thrustmaster wheel bases and swapped in full sized automotive wheels have said that the force feedback was significantly damnpened by having such a big, heavy wheel on those units. I know the R5 is a bit stronger but I wonder if it is really strong enough to handle a big wheel like this.

It’s cool that finally at least someone came up with the idea of creating a gaming steering wheel for a truck, for several years I wondered why the American Thrustmaster and the German Fanatec wouldn’t do this, and I recently started learning about the Chinese company Moza and in just a few months they surprised me several times, I’m really looking forward to when this steering wheel and that module with levers appear on open sale, but it’s strange to me that they made so many extra buttons on the steering wheel, which probably make it additionally more expensive, and at the same time they are working on a module with levers that will have a lot of functionality that is on the steering wheel, if you removed the functions on the steering wheel that are on those levers, it would look more realistic, but in any case it’s cool, greetings from Russia and thanks for the review!

If I had not just added a Trak Racer side mount for my Fanatec 8 Nm GT DD, with a 14" I bought off ebay and my universal adapter, my 18 speed Eaton shifter knob that is at leas6 years old, my Inverted pedals with a heavier Menards spring, the stock spring broke. I am all kitted out in Fanatec, or I would look at the MOZA, but then it still does not do PS without a Drivehub and then your controller is hooked in... Mine makes the transition from PC to PS quick and easy. I leave my wheel at one angle, I am jealous of that adapter... But I am in both worlds and enjoying it. Mostly shifter karts in GT7 and some other games on PS, then ATS and EA Sports Rally... I am pretty busy. There are some blinkers that can work but that is pretty awesome looking. You can still go Simagic if you want, you just need to get the Moza universal hub with it.

@thesimpit, did you find the Moza R12 base good enough for the truck wheel? or would you reccomend something stronger for trucking? bearing in mind the person buying only has a logitech G27, so would also be buying the base as well to get into the eco-system. money isn't an object even thinking of going with the R21 base type of mind-set, especially when people online years ago saying that anything larger than a car wheel would give weak feedback, and the wiper/indicator/retarder switch set when released.

So , i would love for you to do a video of how this truck wheel works with the universal hub.
I believe I have spotted quite the design flaw with the length of the cable , considering that you most certainly will we doing at least 2 revolutions of this wheel during gameplay.
Id like to see your solution to this problem.
I bought a long RJ-12 cabke and it works better, but the wrapping of the wire seems iffy.

I just got mine in and it’s awesome, however pit house won’t let me change the button colors. I have even uninstalled and re installed. Is there something by special I need to do? It looks like you hover over the button and it gives you color options. Mine doesn’t do that.

You hold down 2 buttons on teh wheel to get it into change color mode. It isnt done through pithouse. Check your manual for which buttons I cant remember. I think it was covered in the video.
