I just got a Zills black Surinam cherry starter, it will probably have to live it's life in a container since it gets too cold for it in the winter even though they are supposed to handle down to 20F or so , they only way I would put it in the ground is if I can develop or find a way to keep it safe from the cold.

Wow, great question LSanti. No, it is different. However, the size of the tree and fruit is very similar. I have 2 acerolas and 3 Surinam, I like them both. In terms of flavor, Barbados cherry wins. In terms of fruit production, the Surinam wins.

Just planted 2 about two months ago. I have always seen them as a hedge.
I think a hedge is the typical thing. I just like to try to tree form everything. Any way you go, the fruit rain will occur.
