    I planted my Barbados cherry in June which was about a foot tall. It’s now doubled in size and really branching out. I’d like it to eventually be a tree and not a shrub so can I prune back the lower branches now or should I wait?

    • @JerrasGarden

      You can prune it really any time, especially while its young and your trying to train it.

  • @bethb8276

    They look delicious! Thanks for doing such a detailed explantion of everything, including the fruit! For example, I was wondering through the early part of the video what kind of seed or seeds it had, and then you not only told us, you showed us! Seeds that take up too much of the fruit are not appealing to me, so I was happy to see these only have three rather small to medium-sized seeds. Definitely interested in getting one now. I'm assuming they are self fertile?

    • @JerrasGarden
      @JerrasGarden  Год назад +2

      Yes they are self fertile. If there are 2 plants next to each other or more, then they cross pollinate which does increase yields. But your still ok with just only 1 tree. I try to think about the questions I had when I was researching the fruit/plants to get for my garden. There is not a whole lot of info on some of these more tropical and rare things so I try to show everything that I know.

Any ideas for improved production, or they are still recovering from last years die back? Cheers!

    • @JerrasGarden

      The tree will start fruiting more as it matures. Just have to wait. It does react well to fertilizer and lots of water in the spring to mimic a tropical summer season and that usually helps trigger flowering and fruit production.
