How amazing it will be to return to the concert halls once COVID is behind us. What a brilliant clip. It is one of my dreams to see the Berliner Philharmoniker in action. Bravo.

Simply gorgeous in a manner that defies description. All I can say is I love you all. PS At the 2:16 minute within the 3:05 minutes of this clip, the strings show the degree to which they are all playing exactly at the tone point of their strings: the sound is just so lovely, with full vibrato which is wonderfully intense , that it pierces through all the sound from the other sections and is not overwhelmed by them, as does happen with some other orchestras, and carries great emotional force only enhanced as all the string sections sing together with one beautiful voice. The exactness of the brass is also clean and sharp in a way that adds to the drama and the exquisite feeling of intense directed spiritual resolution, as just one aspect, within this great and sublime masterpiece.

Wow! What a perfect ending. The rhythm of the timpani at the very ending notes is like an audible signature by Rachmaninov himself!

Rachmaninoff Symphony no. 2 is not under performed. His Third Symphony is under performed and perhaps an even better piece than his Second.

The audio and video quality sounds and looks different (mostly for the better) than previous concerts! The zoom out view in the strings and generally quicker angle changes fit the music well imho - please show more horns though!

Did the Berlin Philharmonic hire a new camera director? I've been getting Karajan era nostalgia with some of these close-up shots on the brass (which honestly, I missed! this approach enhances the performance with a more appealing, theatrical experience).

The closing minutes of the last mvt are too breathless. Almost everyone does it - harrying the gorgeous melody in the strings and not letting the end of phrases breathe. A lot of other detail also gets lost when the conductor is pushing the tempo all the time. I attended a live performance in 2022 in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall at which a violinist stood up before the conductor came on to say that the orchestra would be allowing all these details to come through. It was a superb performance and the conductor was Thomas Sondergard. Here’s another recording that get’s it right: ruclips.net/video/a8LMpc5MscU/видео.html

This new conductor has changed the brass drastically, and not for the better. Hurts to hear the composer's sound intentions lost.
Update:I just hope it's not a new Tonmeister.
Listen to the LSO with Rozhdestvensky for the right brass section sound.
