ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Franz Augustine Mallari is a composition major student at the University of the
Philippines-Diliman studying under the mentorship of Prof. Josefino “Chino” Toledo. Franz's
dedication to his craft has earned him numerous prestigious awards and recognition within the
field of composition. Notably, he won in the Solo Piano Category of the 2022 NCCA
Composition Prize, and the Solo Trombone and Solo Horn composition categories in the 2023
National Music Competitions for Young Artists. Franz also reached the finals of the NMGCS II
Composition Competition in Azerbaijan last 2022. Apart from his composition pursuits, he is also
pursuing a minor in choral conducting. Recently, he was able to achieve the second prize for the
Junior Philippine Conductors’ Association’s “Kaleidoscope: A Choral Conducting Competition”.
Moreover, he has worked as an arranger and scorer for student films and other projects.
He is a member of the UP Composers of New Music (UP Conemus) and the Junior Philippine
Conductors Association (JPCA).
